When a judge in <\/span>Arizona upheld pre-statehood protections for pre-born babies<\/span><\/a>, the media and some pro-abortion politicians predictably went wild. The <\/span>text of the law<\/span><\/a>, codified in 1901, grants only one exception in which abortion is allowed: if the mother\u2019s life is in danger. On <\/span>The View<\/span>, host Alyssa Farrah Griffin <\/span>declared<\/span><\/a> the lack of more exceptions regressive: \u201cWhen you don\u2019t have exceptions for rape and incest and life of the mother, you are going so far backward.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Pro-abortion Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly also blasted the absence of \u201ceven an exception for rape or incest\u201d as extreme, according to <\/span>ABC News<\/span><\/a>, and he pledged to \u201cnever stop fighting to restore these rights for Arizona women.\u201d <\/span>The White House released a <\/span>statement<\/span><\/a> saying that pro-life protections \u201cwill set Arizona women back more than a century.\u201d <\/span>National abortion chain Planned Parenthood called the ruling \u201c<\/span>unacceptable<\/span><\/a>\u201d and decried the denial of \u201cmedical care\u201d to the people of Arizona. Even Vice President Kamala Harris <\/span>tweeted<\/span><\/a> about the decision, calling rape and incest exceptions \u201ccritical health needs.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But a closer examination of the issue reveals that there is no legitimate need to kill an innocent human being in such circumstances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Preborn babies are human beings, no matter how they were conceived<\/b><\/p>\n

Rape is a horrific tragedy and an unspeakable violation \u2013 on this simple fact, all can agree. Rape causes immense suffering and deep trauma on almost every level, and victims need compassion to begin to heal from the violent trauma<\/span> that was so unjustly inflicted upon them<\/span>. Abortion activists \u2013 and even some <\/span>politicians who describe themselves as pro-life<\/span><\/a> \u2013 support policy exceptions allowing abortion for rape survivors, with the implication that abortion is a part of their healing process, and as a way to \u201cget rid\u201d of the result of the woman\u2019s victimization. <\/span><\/p>\n

But that proposition, no matter how well intentioned, is deeply flawed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
