Hawaii Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono raised eyebrows last week when she declared<\/a> a “call to arms” in the fight for widespread abortion access.<\/p>\n

A member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Hirono made her remarks after Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced<\/a> a bill that would protect preborn children from abortion after 15 weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I hear my colleagues talking about how, you know, it should be states\u2019 rights, or government should not be telling us what to do, the word \u2018hypocrites,\u2019 it doesn\u2019t even go far enough to call them out on what they\u2019re doing,\u201d she claimed. \u201cThis is an outright attack on women in this country. That is how I see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is how more and more women and those who support our right to make decisions about our own bodies, that is how we see it,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd why? Because that\u2019s what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMadam president, I yield the floor, but clearly, you know, this is a \u2014 literally call to arms in our country, I yield the floor,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

This is not some sort of hypothetical debate.<\/p>\n

If Republicans take control of the Senate, we now know what they will do\u2014they will work to pass a national abortion ban. <\/p>\n
