Weeks after the Colorado baseball team The Rocky Mountain Vibes canceled<\/a> its Family Night sponsored by two pro-life organizations, those organizations have announced that they are rescheduling the event at a different venue.<\/p>\n

Save the Storks<\/a> and Pikes Peak Citizens for Life<\/a>, both pro-life non-profits based in Colorado Springs, had teamed up to organize a Family Fun Night at the minor league Rocky Mountain Vibes game on August 26. The event was set to feature a performance by Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Matt Hammitt and his son Bowen. However, the Vibes abrubtly canceled the event just hours before it was slated to start, telling Live Action News that they did so “because they felt that the partner would hinder the team\u2019s mission in providing fun and affordable family entertainment.” The baseball game was not canceled. While the cancellation was a blow to the local pro-life community, a press release from Save the Storks notes that since that time, they have received an outpouring of support from around the United States. Because of that support, they have been able to team up with a local business, Lost Island Adventure Park, to schedule a new family night to take place on September 24.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of support across the nation and in the Colorado Springs community has been very encouraging,\u201d said Save the Storks CEO Diane Ferraro. \u201cWe are grateful for the generosity of the owners of Lost Island Adventure Park and their willingness to openly support Save the Storks and Pikes Peak Citizens for Life. We believe despite the harm done to our original sponsorship, this act demonstrates to the city of Colorado Springs that faith and family values are still respected and celebrated in this community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The release notes that this new “evening of family fun” will be held on Saturday,\u00a0September 24 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entry cost will be $10 per person for anyone 13 and over; 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The event will feature activities, including outdoor inflatables, mini golf, Ninja warrior gyms, an indoor playground, and food trucks, as well as a performance by Matt and Bowen Hammitt. Activities inside the park are included with admission, except food.<\/p>\n

As the release specifically notes, “Colorado Springs residents who believe women facing unplanned pregnancies deserve love and compassion, no matter what, are invited to attend this event.”<\/p>\n
