Wade<\/em>, and many news organizations have been pushing false or misleading narratives about abortion and women\u2019s health care. But a group of pro-life obstetricians and gynecologists is working hard to disseminate the facts of the matter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/washington-secrets\/ob-gyns-correct-post-roe-media-disinfo\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Washington Examiner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reports that the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) is launching a national campaign over social media and through fact sheets designed to debunk various false claims that are widespread in the mainstream media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cToday, AAPLOG is launching a new campaign to address misinformation with facts using these tools. This is all part of our mission to empower women with information so they can make fully informed healthcare decisions and empower you with the evidence you need to defend your practice of life-affirming medicine,\u201d said an AAPLOG memo to the Examiner.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the misinformation and disinformation that AAPLOG seeks to counter involves mainstream media stories that portray the outlawing of abortion in some states as dangerous and potentially even fatal to some women. For instance, NPR broadcasted and published an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/07\/02\/1109557947\/some-abortions-are-necessary-to-save-the-life-of-a-patient\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">interview with an OBGYN<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who claimed that induced abortions are medically necessary to save the lives of some women \u2013 just one instance of many similar news stories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/590066319\/Aaplog-Myth-v-Fact#download&amp;from_embed\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AAPLOG\u2019s guidance<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> seeks to counter these false narratives with facts. In response to the common media narrative about dangers to women\u2019s health, the AAPLOG memo points out the fact that \u201celective abortion is not lifesaving medical care,\u201d and that \u201cno laws on elective abortion will impact\u201d the ability of OB\/GYNs to provide \u201clifesaving medical care to pregnant women.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The groups notes that 93% of practicing OB\/GYNs \u201cdo not perform elective abortions but have always been able to offer life-saving treatment\u201d regardless of any state pro-life laws, and that OB\/GYNs are \u201ctrained to discern when they need to intervene to save a mother\u2019s life.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some news organizations like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/no-question-us-maternal-mortality-rate-will-rise-post-roe-experts-say-rcna35741\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have reported that maternal mortality rates will certainly rise as a result of\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reversal.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AAPLOG counters this with more facts: \u201cThe data clearly shows that restricting abortion does not lead to an increase in maternal mortality.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the memo points out an important fact frequently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/health\/health-news\/roe-v-wade-anti-abortion-legislation-limit-miscarriage-care-rcna27349\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">obfuscated or incorrectly relayed by many media sources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: that miscarriages are <em>not<\/em> induced abortions, and saving the lives of preborn babies does not mean a delay or denial of treatment for miscarriages in states that have outlawed abortion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe difference between a miscarriage and an elective abortion is clear,\u201d the guidance reads. \u201cIn a miscarriage, the baby has already died and therefore any treatment of a miscarriage would not be an abortion. The procedures and treatments used for miscarriage management are not prohibited by abortion restrictions.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AAPLOG said it aims to be \u201cthe first major pro-life, medical professional network-based effort to correct the record on the effects of Roe\u2019s overturn in the medical sphere,\u201d according to the Washington Examiner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/?ref=br_rs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a>\u00a0for more pro-life news and commentary!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Misinformation and disinformation have become commonplace since the overturning of Roe v.
