Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization<\/em> Supreme Court decision which overturned <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/avalanche-city-ordinances-target-pregnancy-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented the all-out assault against pro-life pregnancy centers at the local level. Now, city and county politicians in multiple states are seeking to pass measures supporting abortion in various ways, and are also seeking to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-us-resolutions-deprioritize-prosecuring-illegal-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deprioritize<\/a> police investigations of abortion.<\/p>\n<div><b>Arizona<\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Phoeniz, AZ:<\/strong> In October, the Phoenix City Council <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/phoenix-city-council-resolution-deprioritization-police-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/phoenix-city-council-resolution-deprioritization-police-abortion\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1666381128631000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2BmTDJqedq2_kkLeeEKXP9\">voted<\/a> 6-2 to support an abortion resolution which would seek to de-prioritize police investigations of abortion. The move follows the passage of Senate Bill 1164, a 2022 measure protecting preborn human beings after 15 weeks gestation from abortion, signed into law by Governor Doug Ducey.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tempe, AZ:<\/strong>\u00a0On <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-pro-abortion-funnel-millions-taxpayer-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-pro-abortion-funnel-millions-taxpayer-abortion\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw18mvjRMlXJ_eZZvu0r2J50\">September 8<\/a>, the Tempe City Council will\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tempe.hylandcloud.com\/Agendaonline\/Meetings\/ViewMeeting?id=1394&amp;doctype=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/tempe.hylandcloud.com\/Agendaonline\/Meetings\/ViewMeeting?id%3D1394%26doctype%3D1&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1bo2393msu6Hq6oiXq4rGi\">vote<\/a>\u00a0to \u201cAdopt a resolution declaring Council\u2019s opposition to the United States Supreme Court decision in\u00a0Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization\u00a0and denouncing Senate Bill 1164 and other provisions of Arizona law criminalizing abortion. (Resolution No. R2022.119)\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>California<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Irving, CA:\u00a0<\/b>In July,\u00a0Irvine City Council members <a href=\"https:\/\/cc.bingj.com\/cache.aspx?q=City+Council+vote%2c+reproductive&amp;d=4540128688209958&amp;mkt=en-US&amp;setlang=en-US&amp;w=9oXHpwqa_8oQnIOstFA-GjzsKiXAgk46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voted<\/a> to approve a <a href=\"https:\/\/irvine.granicus.com\/MetaViewer.php?view_id=68&amp;event_id=2020&amp;meta_id=129250\">resolution<\/a> declaring \u201creproductive freedom\u201d a fundamental right. The resolution &#8220;supports the State of California\u2019s efforts to add a Constitutional Amendment protecting a woman\u2019s right to choose and stop local municipalities from implementing anti-abortion policies&#8221; and they urged &#8220;federal elected officials to pass legislation codifying the full right to abortion.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Oakland, CA:\u00a0<\/strong>On September 20, City Council President Nikki Fortunato Bas, Vice Mayor Rebecca Kaplan, City Council President Pro Tem Sheng Thao, and Councilmember Carroll Fife plan to bring a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-pro-abortion-funnel-millions-taxpayer-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-pro-abortion-funnel-millions-taxpayer-abortion\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw18mvjRMlXJ_eZZvu0r2J50\">resolution<\/a> in support of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.californiafamily.org\/prop-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.californiafamily.org\/prop-1\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0Bc49Ai7lnw54Tu4O1qbhz\">Proposition 1<\/a>\u00a0before the City Council, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/sanfrancisco\/news\/oakland-city-council-resolution-reproductive-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/sanfrancisco\/news\/oakland-city-council-resolution-reproductive-rights\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3wlq8FblnzZNkxJ9WoHviq\">CBS News San Francisco<\/a>. According to the California Family Council, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.californiafamily.org\/prop-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.californiafamily.org\/prop-1\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0Bc49Ai7lnw54Tu4O1qbhz\">measure<\/a>, if approved by the voters of the state, would \u201censure all abortions WITHOUT limitation be protected right up to the moment of birth.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Connecticut<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hartford, CT<\/b>\u00a0In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hartford.civicweb.net\/filepro\/documents\/4361\/\">July,<\/a>\u00a0the Hartford City Council passed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hartford.civicweb.net\/filepro\/documents\/?preview=13285\">resolution<\/a>\u00a0in support of abortion, vowing to support individuals and medical professionals who provide abortion to people from out of state.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Florida<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tampa, FL:<\/strong> In August, the Tampa City Council voted 5-2 to pass <a href=\"https:\/\/atg.tampagov.net\/sirepub\/cache\/2\/zaf2bengmdcqwdtav1e0uvql\/510112608232022020545588.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution 2022-671<\/a> to &#8220;not approve the appropriation of funds for any action or activity that would abrogate or criminalize the rights of its residents to make reproductive health decisions, including abortion care, for themselves&#8230;&#8221; It was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cltampa.com\/news\/tampa-city-council-passes-abortion-resolution-but-councilwoman-says-it-doesnt-go-far-enough-14010286\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supported<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0council members\u00a0Guido Maniscalco, Luis Viera, Charlie Miranda, Bill Carlson, and Joe Citro. Councilperson\u00a0Lynn Hurtak claimed the measure did not go far enough, so she voted against the it after the\u00a0Council&#8217;s legal staff removed her proposal.\u00a0According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cltampa.com\/news\/tampa-city-council-passes-abortion-resolution-but-councilwoman-says-it-doesnt-go-far-enough-14010286\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cltampa.com<\/a>, Hurtak&#8217;s version, crafted with assistance from the Tampa Democratic Socialists of America, would have made abortions &#8220;the lowest level priority for local law enforcement to pursue&#8221; and &#8220;called for the city to not be involved in funding so called &#8216;pregnancy centers&#8217; that work to oppose legal abortion.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Georgia<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Atlanta, GA: <\/strong>In June, the Atlanta City Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/reporternewspapers.net\/2022\/06\/22\/atlanta-says-no-city-funds-will-be-used-to-investigate-abortion-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved<\/a>\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantacityga.iqm2.com\/Citizens\/Detail_LegiFile.aspx?Frame=&amp;MeetingID=3608&amp;MediaPosition=14209.343&amp;ID=30067&amp;CssClass=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution<\/a>\u00a0stressing that no city funds will be used to investigate abortion and that police will make investigations of abortion the lowest priority. The Council also requests that the &#8220;Atlanta Police Department ensure that the investigation or support for the prosecution of any allegation, charge, or information relating to the outcome of a given pregnancy, including abortion and abortion-related care, or any party thereto will be the lowest priority for enforcement&#8230;&#8221; A separate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/citycouncil.atlantaga.gov\/standing-committees\/meeting-agendas\/agenda\">resolution<\/a> allowed the city of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/tag\/us\/ga\/atlanta\">Atlanta<\/a> to donate <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantacityga.iqm2.com\/Citizens\/FileOpen.aspx?Type=15&amp;ID=3424&amp;Inline=True\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$300,000<\/a> to pro-abortion organizations. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/tag\/organization\/atlanta-city-council\">Atlanta City Council<\/a> passed the resolution on the consent agenda unanimously and without any objection. The money will go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/arc-southeast.org\/\">Access Reproductive Care-Southeast<\/a> and will be distributed to allow for things such as rides to abortion appointments, abortion travel, and accommodations for women seeking abortions, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/news\/atlanta-city-council-roe-v-wade-abortion-reproductive-health-women\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news reports<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><b>Savannah, GA<\/b><b>: <\/b>In July, the Savannah City Council\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agenda.savannahga.gov\/publishing\/ap-agendas.html\">approved<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agenda.savannahga.gov\/publishing\/july-14-2022-city-council-regular-meeting\/1353_8561.html\">a resolution to support abortion.<\/a>\u00a0A local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtoc.com\/2022\/07\/22\/savannah-city-council-adopts-resolution-supporting-womens-reproductive-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news report<\/a> indicated that, &#8220;While Savannah\u2019s only abortion clinic closed shortly after Roe v. Wade was overturned, the resolution says the right to privacy should protect doctors, patients and all others involved with medical treatment from any criminal investigation including an abortion.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Idaho<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Boise, ID<\/b><strong>:<\/strong> The Boise City Council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idahostatesman.com\/news\/local\/community\/boise\/article263635708.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passed<\/a> a resolution\u00a0by a 3-2 vote\u00a0to limit city resources from being used to take legal action against someone for seeking or committing an abortion.\u00a0<a class=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/boisecityid.iqm2.com\/Citizens\/Detail_LegiFile.aspx?Frame=&amp;MeetingID=4233&amp;MediaPosition=&amp;ID=18446&amp;CssClass=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The resolution<\/a>\u00a0states \u201cinvestigations for the purpose of prosecuting abortion providers will not be prioritized, and additional resources or personnel will not be assigned\u201d to such cases. It adds that city funds will not be used to store information or provide assistance to &#8220;any other governmental body, agency, or professional licensing board about any abortion performed.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Iowa<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Des Moines, IA:<\/strong> A proposed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/des-moines-city-councilman-prohibit-police-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution drafted<\/a> by Des Moines city councilman Josh Mandelbaum would prohibit police from investigating any matters related to abortion. It reads in part, &#8220;RESOLVED THAT\u00a0the City of Des Moines shall not use its resources to investigate anyone seeking reproductive health care services or health care providers facilitating access to such services.&#8221;\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">On October 3, 2022, the Council rejected the resolution by a vote of 5-2. Read more <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-resolution-voted-down-des-moines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-resolution-voted-down-des-moines\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1665642827175000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0BltxPbMqfcey6vaF7QS2J\">here<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Louisiana\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New Orleans, LA:<\/strong>\u00a0In July, the New Orleans City Council approved a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cityofno.granicus.com\/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&amp;clip_id=4131&amp;meta_id=589512\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution<\/a>\u00a0which, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wdsu.com\/article\/new-orleans-council-abortion-resolution\/40534804#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WDSU<\/a>, would \u201cdeprioritize abortion cases in the city.\u201d And an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cityofno.granicus.com\/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=42&amp;clip_id=4156&amp;meta_id=593317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordinance<\/a>\u00a0was approved to amend the Code of the City of New Orleans, clarifying that facial recognition technology shall specifically exclude those involving abortion and consensual sexual acts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Maryland<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Baltimore, MD: <\/b>In May,\u00a0the Baltimore City Council unanimously <a href=\"https:\/\/baltimore.legistar.com\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=5653726&amp;GUID=B8AECF7A-7C5E-4E2F-A741-442BB7156524&amp;Options=ID%7CText%7C&amp;Search=abortion\">approved<\/a>\u00a0a resolution that affirms abortion. First district Councilmember Zeke Cohen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wypr.org\/wypr-news\/2022-05-17\/baltimore-city-council-unanimously-approves-resolution-for-reproductive-rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> a key part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/baltimore.legistar.com\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution<\/a> is backing the Baltimore Abortion Fund and Baltimore Doula Project through city funds and donations. &#8220;Now, therefore, be it <a href=\"https:\/\/baltimore.legistar.com\/ViewReport.ashx?M=R&amp;N=Master&amp;GID=140&amp;ID=5653726&amp;GUID=B8AECF7A-7C5E-4E2F-A741-442BB7156524&amp;Extra=WithText&amp;Title=Legislation+Details+(With+Text)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolved<\/a> by the City Council of Baltimore, That the City Council calls the Mayor to work with the City Council to create a public fund that supports community-based organizations in Baltimore that are engaged in reproductive health care services.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><b>Montgomery County, MD<\/b>: Maryland County Executive Marc Elrich <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.montgomerycountymd.gov\/mcgportalapps\/Press_Detail.aspx?Item_ID=40523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requested<\/a> $1 million in supplemental allocation for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.montgomerycountymd.gov\/ccllims\/ResolutionDetailsPage?RecordId=11541&amp;fullTextSearch=abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased funding<\/a> to a Health and Human Services budget to, among other things, provide &#8220;grants to organizations in the County that provide abortion services,&#8221; to provide &#8220;aid to organizations that are fighting legal battles on behalf of those seeking access to abortion services; [s]ecurity for providers who offer direct abortion services or referral to abortion services,&#8221; and &#8220;[s]upport for organizations and providers who offer direct abortion services or refer to abortion services to begin practicing in Montgomery County.&#8221; On September 2,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MontCoExec\/status\/1565444447789252611\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/twitter.com\/MontCoExec\/status\/1565444447789252611&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2Z4GjhYoi03SVHkseh0vig\">Elrich<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/MDMONTGOMERY\/bulletins\/32a969f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/MDMONTGOMERY\/bulletins\/32a969f&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1Hg8yrwb5JucJBTk7CJfgO\">announced<\/a>\u00a0that the county is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/4e4k-GBWoQk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/youtu.be\/4e4k-GBWoQk&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0VhYx5UAWVzqD0PsL9CaeZ\">committing<\/a>\u00a0$1 million for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wtop.com\/montgomery-county\/2022\/09\/montgomery-co-commits-1-million-for-grants-to-abortion-service-providers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/wtop.com\/montgomery-county\/2022\/09\/montgomery-co-commits-1-million-for-grants-to-abortion-service-providers\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0ygPBPrBmAwzP7VlgO1Uq4\">grants<\/a>\u00a0to fund abortion providers, despite the fact that Maryland has not passed any pro-life measures. City Councilor Owen Zaret said that Planned Parenthood had suggested that he <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/avalanche-city-ordinances-target-pregnancy-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">propose a measure<\/a> to target their pro-life pregnancy centers, called the \u201cDeceptive Advertising Practices of Limited Services Pregnancy Centers\u201d ordinance, which would include $300 fines for violations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Missouri\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Kansas City, MO:<\/b>\u00a0The\u00a0Kansas City Council approved a measure that could provide $300 travel stipend for city workers seeking an abortion, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2022\/06\/30\/council-approves-measure-that-could-provide-300-travel-stipend-city-workers-seeking-an-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KCTV5<\/a>. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austintexas.gov\/edims\/document.cfm?id=387204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution<\/a>\u00a0called for \u201climiting the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/assets.austintexas.gov\/austincouncilforum\/E0-20220624105134.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">use<\/a>\u00a0of City funds for collecting or maintaining information concerning abortions\u2026 and de-prioritizing enforcement of criminal laws concerning abortions\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dallas, TX: <\/strong>In August, the Dallas City Council, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dallas-city-council-passes-abortion-resolution-underhanded-maneuver\/\">underhandedly<\/a>\u00a0eliminated a number of speakers opposed to that city\u2019s proposed abortion measure, <a href=\"https:\/\/cityofdallas.legistar.com\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=5750257&amp;GUID=A5C7AB59-0FE9-4514-9727-850A43E50BCA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Resolution.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reproductive Rights Resolution<\/a>\u00a0modeled after the so-called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-us-resolutions-deprioritize-prosecuring-illegal-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GRACE Act<\/a>.\u201d It states that it is the \u201cpolicy of the City that investigation of or support for the prosecution of any allegation, charge, or information relating to a pregnancy outcome or any party thereto will be the\u00a0<em>lowest priority<\/em>\u00a0for enforcement\u2026\u201dAsked by a Council member whether the resolution would be a violation of police officers\u2019 oath,\u00a0Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@jamiethisyoujeffries\/video\/7130359758636272938\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responded<\/a>, \u201cYes. Having the policy that says you will not enforce a law on the books would be in violation of our police officer\u2019s oath, if you will not enforce it. Using discretion is different than saying you will not enforce a law of the State of Texas\u2026 Obviously there\u2019s some uneasiness and I\u2019ll be frank, not only are just most of my rank-in-file, this has nothing to do with the issue, it has to do with the language.\u201d Watch the Council meeting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dallastx.swagit.com\/play\/08102022-977\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Denton, TX<\/strong>: In June, the Denton City Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dentontx.new.swagit.com\/videos\/176325\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/denton-tx.legistar.com\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=5708779&amp;GUID=5149B007-7826-4325-A89C-F0584414A495\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution 22-1275<\/a>, which states that \u201cinvestigation of or support for the prosecution of any allegation, charge, or information relating to a pregnancy outcome or any party thereto will be the lowest priority for enforcement\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>El Paso, TX:<\/strong>\u00a0Pro-lifers showed up in force at the El Paso City Council to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-us-resolutions-deprioritize-prosecuring-illegal-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defeat<\/a>\u00a0the pro-abortion resolution.<\/li>\n<li><strong>El Paso County, TX:<\/strong>\u00a0In July, the El Paso County Commission\u00a0voted to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/el-paso-county-commission-resolution-police-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pass<\/a>\u00a0a <a href=\"https:\/\/elpaso.novusagenda.com\/AgendaPublic\/CoverSheet.aspx?ItemID=38526&amp;MeetingID=1201\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution<\/a>\u00a0which calls for law enforcement to \u201cuse discretion to not initiate targeted investigations and prosecutions into the crime of abortion.\u201d In addition, the measure directs the County Attorney to \u201cactively seek participation, as a plaintiff or amicus curia, in on-going or future litigation to protect the availability of abortion medical services in El Paso.\u201d It also directs \u201cthat an item be added to the El Paso County Legislative Agenda that opposes any legislation that seeks to criminalize or penalize a person seeking medical care that may include an abortion.\u201d The move was supported by County Commissioner David Stout, who reportedly previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epcounty.com\/comm2\/biography.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">served<\/a>\u00a0as Communications Coordinator for the\u00a0United States Conference of Catholic Bishops\u00a0(USCCB).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Houston, TX:<\/strong>\u00a0On September 4, Mayor Sylvester Turner took it upon himself to thwart state law and has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-pro-abortion-funnel-millions-taxpayer-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cities-pro-abortion-funnel-millions-taxpayer-abortion\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1662599713058000&amp;usg=AOvVaw18mvjRMlXJ_eZZvu0r2J50\">called<\/a> for the police in the City of Houston to deprioritize investigations of illegal abortions. However, it does make a policy recommendation against spending city money \u2014 outside of what is \u2018clearly required\u2019 by state and federal law \u2014 to catalog, collect or share with other government agencies information on instances of abortion strictly to pursue criminal investigations.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Media reports <a href=\"https:\/\/dentonrc.com\/news\/local-progress-takes-progressive-reproductive-freedom-agenda-to-local-leaders\/article_b1ebe86c-b094-51e5-b475-1d4bbb2dbe8d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicate<\/a> that a group called <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LocalProgress\/status\/1557735470578434050\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Local Progress<\/a>\u00a0,which <a href=\"https:\/\/localprogress.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a> to be made up of &#8220;elected leaders who build power with underrepresented communities&#8221;
