{"id":2738,"date":"2011-04-08T16:18:04","date_gmt":"2011-04-08T21:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/blog\/?p=2738"},"modified":"2021-07-14T21:44:01","modified_gmt":"2021-07-15T02:44:01","slug":"great-moments-in-eugenics-history-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/great-moments-in-eugenics-history-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Great moments in eugenics history II"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Remember <strong>Margaret Sanger<\/strong>, the racist, elitist eugenicist who palled around with Nazi sympathizers and founded <strong>Planned Parenthood<\/strong>? <strong>President Obama<\/strong> and pro-abortion <strong>Senate Democrats<\/strong> would rather send the government into shutdown today than stop funding her organization. <strong>Weasel Zippers<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/weaselzippers.us\/2011\/04\/08\/flashback-1957-mike-wallace-sanger-interview\/\">blog<\/a> thinks today is as good as any to remind ourselves and our communities what kind of woman <strong>Sanger<\/strong> was:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"349\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/QEa_RkzMQOI?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"425\" height=\"349\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/QEa_RkzMQOI?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/weaselzippers.us\/2011\/04\/08\/flashback-1957-mike-wallace-sanger-interview\/\">blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have read this woman\u2019s views before, mostly on abortion and \u201cundesirables,\u201d but this interview really does show the arrogant spite the founder of Planned Parenthood has for life, struggle, and morality. Actually hearing her speak with her cold self-righteous snippiness deepens the chill. I can almost imagine her sitting on a death panel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Couldn&#8217;t have said it better myself. <strong>SBA List<\/strong> did their best this week to get the word out with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/sites\/default\/files\/content\/shared\/SBAList_Margaret_SangerAd4711.pdf\">brilliant full-page ad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Investigative journalist <strong>Randy Engel<\/strong> of <strong>U.S. Coalition for Life<\/strong> also did her part to draw attention to the Planned Parenthood-eugenics link last week, circulating <a href=\"http:\/\/uscl.info\/edoc\/doc.php?doc_id=49&amp;action=inline\">this disturbing memo<\/a> from <strong>Planned Parenthood VP Frederick S. Jaffe<\/strong> to<strong> Population Council President Bernard Berelson<\/strong> in the 1960s. <strong>Engel<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.impactwire.com\/a\/8217\/The-Memo-That-Could-Turn-the-Tide-Against-Planned-Parenthood-Tax-Funding\">writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Jaffe\/Berelson Memo was drawn up by Jaffe as a companion piece to Berelson\u2019s paper, \u201cBeyond Family Planning,\u201d published in the Population Council\u2019s February 1969 issue of Studies in Family Planning http:\/\/uscl.info\/edoc\/doc.php?doc_id=83&amp;action=inline .<\/p>\n<p>According to Berelson, federal family planning programs are \u201cthe first step to population control.\u201d Why? Berelson answers, \u201cProbably because from a broad political standpoint it is the most acceptable one: since closely tied to maternal and child care it can be perceived as a health measure beyond dispute; and since voluntary it can be justified as a contribution to the effective personal freedom of individual couples.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Is Berelson saying that Congress was duped into supporting Title X birth limitation programs in 1970 under the guise of maternal health care and volunteerism, when in fact, Congress was taking its first step toward population control, which unlike \u201cfamily planning\u201d includes a wide range of compulsory means of population reduction including compulsory abortion and sterilization and social constraints such as \u201cencouraging increased homosexuality?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If federal \u201cfamily planning\u201d programs are indeed stepping stones to totalitarian population control by the State, then it is time, indeed, that Uncle Sam got himself out of the birth limitation business.
