{"id":272615,"date":"2022-07-16T09:37:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-16T14:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=272615"},"modified":"2022-07-16T11:08:59","modified_gmt":"2022-07-16T16:08:59","slug":"sophia-bush-happy-husbands-ex-aborted-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/sophia-bush-happy-husbands-ex-aborted-baby\/","title":{"rendered":"AWFUL: Actress Sophia Bush glad her husband&#8217;s ex aborted his baby or they might not be a couple"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actress and activist Sophia Bush published an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glamour.com\/story\/why-the-right-to-an-abortion-matters-for-every-person\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">essay<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Glamour<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on July 14 entitled, \u201cWhy the Right to an Abortion Matters for Every Person.\u201d In it, she postulates many false ideas, including that the \u201cright\u201d to abortion stems from the 14th Amendment\u2019s promulgation of the right to liberty \u2013 conveniently ignoring the fact that the 14th Amendment establishes the right to life for all persons under U.S. jurisdiction, including preborn human beings, and that it does not establish a right to liberty from the natural consequences of one\u2019s actions. Bush claims that the rights to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/right-privacy-not-include-right-kill-human\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">privacy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/bodily-autonomy-women-violently-kill-humans\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bodily autonomy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> protect the right to abortion, too, but these do not provide for or imply a right to kill other human beings (homicide).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She also claims that miscarriages are now \u201cpotential crime scenes\u201d \u2014 something that was not the case before <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/treatments-miscarriage-ectopic-legal-state\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nor is it now<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But perhaps more disturbingly, Bush claims abortion was a necessary prerequisite for her current marriage (emphasis added):<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grant [Hughes] is my person. My best friend. A true partner. <strong>But I could have missed him, if it were not for the abortion he and a former partner had.<\/strong> <strong>Because the love of my life and a former partner of his had access to an abortion in his past, he and I have a future.<\/strong> Because a young couple in their 20s had access to reproductive care, the two of us are now actively planning a family.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, a child had to die <em>so that she could get her man<\/em>?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/moms-difficult-circumstances-support-help\/\">Moms in difficult circumstances need support and resources, not abortion<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bush makes a lot of assumptions in order to draw this conclusion. She assumes she and Hughes would never have gotten together if not for Hughes\u2019s past abortion. She assumes he wouldn\u2019t have been able to \u201cpursue the future[] of [his] dreams.\u201d But unless she wouldn\u2019t have accepted him as a partner if he also had a child, neither of these possibilities is necessarily true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWould his life change forever simply because he had explored the world of dating? Were they both to be punished?\u201d Bush asks, referring to Hughes and his former girlfriend. Implicit in these questions are two disturbing assumptions. First, she nonsensically equates dating and sex (as if the two must be inextricably linked). Secondly, she offensively equates the natural consequences of sex \u2013 the reproduction of children \u2013 with <em>punishment<\/em>. Obviously this isn&#8217;t the first time we&#8217;ve heard this, since a certain former president <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/10-of-the-worst-statements-made-by-pro-choice-politicians\/\">said the same<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children are a gift, not a punishment, and actions have consequences. Abortion does not amend some kind of cosmic injustice \u2013 it <em>is<\/em> injustice in and of itself, because it terminates an innocent human being&#8217;s life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a> for more pro-life news and
