So he now is telling reporters he may declare a public health emergency as another way of expanding abortion access across the country, even though he had previously said it wasn&#8217;t a good idea.<\/p>\n<p>Biden stopped to talk to members of the press while on a bike ride near his beach house in Delaware. The Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-abortion-health-emergency-access-states-497aca6c30c79dd32a34cb2dfc923b81\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that though Biden said a public health emergency wasn&#8217;t a &#8220;great option,&#8221; it was still something he was considering.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we looked at the public health emergency, we learned a couple things: One is that it doesn\u2019t free very many resources,\u201d Jen Klein, director of the White House Gender Policy Council, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/biden-abortion-access-public-health-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said on Friday<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s what\u2019s in the public health emergency fund, and there\u2019s very little money \u2014 tens of thousands of dollars in it. So that didn\u2019t seem like a great option. And it also doesn\u2019t release a significant amount of legal authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-reproductive-rights-no-help-choose-life\/\">Biden Administration\u2019s \u2018reproductive rights\u2019 website offers no help to women who choose life<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When asked if he was still considering a public health emergency on Sunday, he said he wasn&#8217;t sure if he had the authority, but was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/biden-weighs-authority-declare-abortion-related-public-health-emergency-after-2022-07-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looking into it<\/a>, before launching into another push for more pro-abortion politicians to be voted into Congress this November.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MQCLBOXBO9Q\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Biden began by encouraging those angry about <em>Roe<\/em> to protest. &#8220;Keep protesting, keep making your point,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s critically important.&#8221;\u00a0Giving encouragement and solidarity to the protesters angry over the fall of <em>Roe<\/em> is dangerous and irresponsible, considering the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/state-experienced-pro-abortion-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">violence and vandalism<\/a>\u00a0of pro-abortion domestic terrorists groups currently sweeping the nation. There has been little to no condemnation from the Biden administration over these crimes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can do a lot of things to accommodate the right of women in the meantime,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;But fundamentally, the only way to change this is if we have a national law that reinstates <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. That&#8217;s the bottom line. Everything else would be pieces of it, and I&#8217;m trying to do that. But as president, I don&#8217;t have the authority to say that we&#8217;re going to, you know, reinstate <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> as the law of the land. The only way we do that is through an election of the United States Congress. In the meantime, states can make those judgments. But, so, my ultimate goal is to reinstate <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> as a national law by passing it in the United States Congress.
