New York pregnancy resource centers provided $3.9 million in free services for tens of thousands of people in 2019, according to a collaborative project between the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) and CareNet. In contrast, that same year, the abortion industry killed\u00a074,211 preborn babies by abortion, with nearly 50,000 of those committed in New York City alone.<\/p>\n

The new report shows the powerful impact of pro-life PRCs just days\u00a0after the\u00a0CompassCare Pregnancy Services<\/a>\u00a0in Buffalo, New York, was firebombed. The PRC was then informed by the state that they would be the subject<\/a> of what is essentially an “unjust investigation.” That move comes as a result of\u00a0legislation<\/a>\u00a0passed earlier this year (SB470<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0HB5499<\/a>), recently signed into law, which authorized the state\u2019s commissioner of health \u201cto conduct a study and issue a report examining the unmet health and resource needs facing pregnant women in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words, the pro-life centers are being targeted and investigated simply for\u00a0not committing or referring for abortions<\/em>.<\/p>\n

NY PRCs offered $3.9 million in free services for\u00a0over 26,000 people<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Pregnancy Center State Impact Report for New York<\/a>\u00a0reveals that 84 pregnancy centers in the state provided $3.9 million in free services for\u00a0over 26,000 people in 2019. Those services included\u00a0free pregnancy tests, ultrasound exams, STD testing, parenting classes, abortion recovery, diapers, baby clothes, and more. The centers had 323 total staff \u2014\u00a025% of whom were licensed medical professionals \u2014 as well as 1,382 total volunteers, 6% of whom were licensed medical professionals.<\/p>\n

Value of services is based upon materials and services provided by these 84 centers, and at least one received state or federal funding in 2019, the report noted.<\/p>\n

The report also documented that PRCs provided over $1.4 million in medical services, which included 7,615 free pregnancy tests, 4,568 free ultrasounds performed by registered nurses\/medical sonographers, and 1,526 total STD\/STI tests performed by registered nurses (316 patients tested \u2013 82% female, 18% male).<\/p>\n

According to the report, eight out of every 10 pregnancy center locations in the U.S. are medical.<\/p>\n

In addition, the report indicated that NY PRCs provided nearly $1.6 million in family services, which included 14,051 free consultations with new clients, 12,112 students attending free sexual risk avoidance presentations, 5,101 clients receiving free parenting education (82% female, 18% male), and 631 clients receiving free after-abortion support & recovery (97% female, 3% male).<\/p>\n

Maternity services offered by New York PRCs totaled $553,923 and included\u00a079,737 free baby items to families in need.<\/p>\n

“The estimated savings does not include housing and other monetary assistance provided to some clients,” the report added.\u00a0 “We advocate for our clients by networking with hundreds of county, state and non-profit social service organizations around the country. We cannot quantify the value of emotional support given to the women we help through phone calls and caring volunteers.”<\/p>\n

Abortions in New York<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2019<\/a>, the State of New York recorded<\/a> 74,211 abortions, while\u00a0220,536 live births<\/a> were also recorded.<\/p>\n

According to the abortion data, white women obtained 15,504 abortions in 2019 while Black women obtained 23,935, and Hispanic women obtained 17,371. Medicaid (taxpayer-funded) abortions comprised 48% of all abortions \u2014\u00a0a total of 35,905 preborn children killed using taxpayer dollars.<\/p>\n

In addition, 49,784 abortions took place in New York City, according to 2019 Vital Statics data<\/a> published by the NYC Department of Health. Of that number…<\/p>\n
