As more and more states have implemented protections for preborn children, the American Medical Association (AMA) has responded by announcing it will do all it can to protect abortion, labeling protections for preborn human beings a “violation of human rights.”<\/p>\n

In a press release<\/a>, the AMA announced a newly adopted policy which would seek protection for abortionists against what AMA deemed as “government systems of control and punishment that criminalize reproductive health services.” The AMA said it would challenge any penalties against abortionists or their patients, although virtually every current pro-life law in the country contains no penalties for a woman who has an abortion.<\/p>\n

\u201cA growing number of current and pending laws insert government into the patient-physician relationship by dictating limits or bans on reproductive health services and criminally punish or penalize patients for their health decisions,\u201d incoming AMA president Jack Resneck, Jr. said. \u201cThe new policy also calls for AMA to seek legal protections for patients who cross state lines to receive reproductive health services, as well as legal protections for physicians and others who support or provide reproductive health services or referrals to patients who cross state lines.\u201d<\/p>\n

The AMA also said its policy recognizes “that it is a violation of human rights” to have pro-life protections implemented by state governments.<\/p>\n

The AMA has long advocated for legal abortion, even to extreme lengths. It has attacked pro-life\u00a0pregnancy centers<\/a> and the Trump-era\u00a0Protect Life Rule<\/a>, which required Title X recipients to fiscally and physically separate their abortion business from their family planning services. They also sued North Dakota<\/a> for requiring abortionists to simply state the reality of what abortion does: \u201cThe abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Donna Harrison, \u00a0CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, previously told Live Action News, this is nothing less than a complete denial of scientific fact in favor of pro-abortion advocacy.<\/p>\n

“The AMA has launched into pro-abortion advocacy, abandoning all scientific reason. Biology has for the last 200 years clearly stated that a new mammalian life begins at sperm egg union. Humans are mammals, and a complete, separate, unique human being is present in the womb of women who are pregnant. That is scientific fact,” Harrison said, adding, “By denying scientific reality, the AMA has launched into the realm of lying in order to promote abortion. The AMA has shamed its membership by such blind advocacy.”<\/p>\n
