Each of these policies directly targets low-income women and their babies for abortion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Takeaways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New York Attorney General Letitia James wants $50 million in funding to pay for abortions as well as travel costs for women from out of state who travel to New York for an abortion.<\/li>\n<li>The New York Senate has proposed a bill to create an access fund to pay for abortions.<\/li>\n<li>New York Legislators have proposed a bill to force insurance policies that provide maternity care to also pay for abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>$50 million in abortion funding<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>New York Attorney General Letitia James has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/new-yorks-insane-plan-to-fund-abortion-tourism\/?utm_source=recirc-desktop&amp;utm_medium=homepage&amp;utm_campaign=right-rail&amp;utm_content=corner&amp;utm_term=third\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed<\/a> a $50 million fund that is now before the New York State Assembly where it was introduced by Jessica\u00a0Gonz\u00e1lez-Rojas. The fund would pay for abortions but would also pay the travel costs of women from out of state who travel to New York for abortions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/legislation.nysenate.gov\/pdf\/bills\/2021\/A10148\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Assembly Bill A10148<\/a>, or the &#8220;Reproductive Freedom and Equity Program Act,&#8221; is currently in committee and defines abortion as essential health care that is &#8220;integral&#8221; to women. The bill notes that on January 22, 2019, the state law on abortion was &#8220;modernized&#8221; to say that every person has a &#8220;fundamental right to abortion.&#8221; But the bill states that despite &#8220;a constitutional and state right to abortion,&#8221; barriers still exist and pro-abortion legislators want those barriers removed. It states that there are costs to traveling for abortion and that &#8220;immigrants, young people, people with disabilities and those living in rural areas&#8221; may not be able to afford the costs, so the state will cover the costs for them.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than use $50 million to help lift women and children out of poverty, New York legislators want to spend it on killing the babies of underprivileged women, which will help to ensure that certain populations are kept from reproducing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill to create abortion fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, <a href=\"https:\/\/legislation.nysenate.gov\/pdf\/bills\/2021\/S758\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate Bill S758<\/a> would amend the state finance and tax laws in order to create an abortion access fund that would allow taxpayers to donate money to the fund from their income tax returns.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, $50 million would not be enough for pro-abortion legislators in New York. They also want taxpayers to donate additional funds to help them kill the babies of the underprivileged through abortion.<\/p>\n<p>If signed, the law would take effect immediately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill to force insurance policies to cover abortion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another proposed New York bill would force insurance policies that cover maternity care to also cover abortions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2021\/s7002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate Bill S7002<\/a> states that &#8220;provision be made for pregnancy termination procedures in every individual or group policy or contract which provides coverage or indemnity for hospital, surgical, or medical care and which offers maternity care coverage.&#8221; This, states the bill, will &#8220;provide all New Yorkers with the opportunity to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But abortion is never medically necessary \u2014 not to save the life or health of the mother and certainly not when the child is diagnosed with a disability. And &#8220;fulfilling&#8221; one&#8217;s life by killing defenseless human beings \u2014 one&#8217;s own children \u2014 is a simply jaw-dropping notion.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion is not fulfilling, but actually increases a woman&#8217;s risk of mental health concerns such as depression and suicidal thoughts.
