In 2021, pro-abortion author and “certified feminist life coach”\u00a0Amanda Star Kingsley\u00a0<\/span>wrote a book<\/a>\u00a0intended to help people cope with abortion trauma.\u00a0<\/em>In it, she admits how emotionally devastating abortion can be.<\/p>\n

While some abortion advocates deny that women can suffer emotional and psychological effects from abortion trauma, Kingsley says that women do grieve following an abortion. She writes:<\/p>\n

There are moments when it all feels like a nightmare.<\/em><\/p>\n

Desperate for relief<\/em><\/p>\n

you beg for forgiveness \u2013<\/em><\/p>\n

anything that might make the pain stop. (p. 129)<\/em><\/p>\n

And:<\/p>\n

Unresolved feelings:<\/em><\/p>\n

grief<\/em><\/p>\n

shame<\/em><\/p>\n

guilt<\/em><\/p>\n

regret \u2013<\/em><\/p>\n

they seep into all parts of our lives. (153)<\/em><\/p>\n

And:<\/p>\n

After abortions, we grieve\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

Grief looks like:<\/em><\/p>\n

sadness<\/em><\/p>\n

shock<\/em><\/p>\n

numbness<\/em><\/p>\n

denial<\/em><\/p>\n

powerlessness<\/em><\/p>\n

fear<\/em><\/p>\n

anger. (19)<\/em><\/p>\n

She also wrote:<\/p>\n

After abortion, our thoughts can<\/em><\/p>\n

swirl<\/em><\/p>\n

cycle<\/em><\/p>\n

and torment us. (137)<\/em><\/p>\n

Pro-abortion activists usually deny that abortion hurts people despite the fact that there are many studies showing that it does. One study in the\u00a0British Journal of Psychiatry<\/a>\u00a0found that post-abortive women experience an 81% increased risk of mental health issues.\u00a0It discusses the methodological flaws in studies that seem to \u201cprove\u201d that women aren\u2019t negatively affected by their abortions.\u00a0Other studies<\/a> have also verified abortion trauma.<\/a>\u00a0Pro-abortion researchers<\/a> have verified<\/a> this as well.<\/p>\n

“Over the past several decades, hundreds of studies have been published indicating statistically significant associations between induced abortion and adverse psychological outcomes of various forms,” states the study.<\/p>\n

How does Kingsley suggest women cope with their abortion trauma? First, she reassures readers that “Grief after abortion is normal.”\u00a0(53) She says, “There’s nothing wrong with you if all you think about is your abortion,” (65) and tries to convince them, “Regret isn’t inherently bad\u2026 It’s okay to say,\u00a0I regret my decision\u2026\u00a0<\/em>Regret\u2026 has no power.” (39)<\/p>\n

But repeating this lie does not make it true.<\/p>\n

Pro-life post-abortion care, on the other hand, helps women to forgive themselves and others and to seek forgiveness from God. But Kingsley says:<\/p>\n

Solace… will arrive with acceptance<\/em><\/p>\n

not forgiveness.<\/em><\/p>\n

Abortion was always meant to be part of your story.<\/em><\/p>\n

There is no need for forgiveness in a perfectly executed plan\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

Forgiveness is an illusion. (129)<\/em><\/p>\n

Abortion, she insists, was the right choice and somehow part of a woman’s destiny, even if the woman regrets it, even if perhaps she was coerced into it.\u00a0She goes on to say:<\/p>\n

We don’t choose to thrive after abortion in order<\/em><\/p>\n

to fill a space left by an unborn soul.<\/em><\/p>\n

We choose to thrive for ourselves \u2013<\/em><\/p>\n

sometimes in honor of that unborn soul. (123)<\/em><\/p>\n

Pursuing goals, according to Kingsley, will somehow honor a woman’s dead baby. She freely admits abortion kills a baby. In fact, she even dedicated her book<\/em> to aborted babies, writing: \u201cTo the babies and the wombs they touched, your courage does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also claims that \u201cWe choose abortions to be better parents\u201d (11) and tells readers “Abortion is how you parented that child.\u201d (180)\u00a0In the pro-abortion twisted view, killing your child is a way to “parent” them. She says, “To be a parent is to choose love… Abortion is an expression of love. (181)<\/p>\n

In addition, she insists that abortion will make a person’s life better:<\/p>\n

Abortion showed you your beliefs<\/em><\/p>\n

your dreams<\/em><\/p>\n

your feelings<\/em><\/p>\n

your love\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

The book you wanted to write, it will be fuller now.<\/em><\/p>\n

The lips you dream to kiss, they will taste sweeter now.<\/em><\/p>\n

The legacy you want to leave, it will reach more people now. (139)<\/em><\/p>\n

Exactly how abortion will do this, of course, she doesn\u2019t say. She just keeps repeating lies like, “Abortion made you wiser. Abortion made you braver.” (173) Her constant refrain is that abortion improves a person’s life, despite the trauma it causes and the lives it steals.\u00a0She also repeatedly tells readers:<\/p>\n

Choosing abortion was not a mistake.<\/em><\/p>\n

It was a sacred use of your power. (145)<\/em><\/p>\n

Except, exhibiting “power” over a more vulnerable human being \u2014 in this case through violence \u2014 is oppressive. The strong should not exert “power” over the weak in a destructive way. Yet, Kingsley believes that women using power to kill their vulnerable children is “sacred.”<\/p>\n

There is almost a kind of desperation in the way Kingsley insists, again and again, that abortion is good. It’s as if she\u2019s desperately trying to convince herself along with her readers. Essentially, she encourages people to lie to themselves – tell themselves they don’t really<\/em> feel bad, and if they do<\/em> feel bad, that’s somehow good<\/em>. She tells post-abortive people to repress their true feelings and deny their trauma. In other words, she suggests they keep telling themselves they made the right choice, and maybe, eventually, they’ll believe it.<\/p>\n

Finally, Kingsley says, “There’s a gaping hole in after-abortion care.” (193) What she really means is that there is a gaping hole in pro-abortion<\/em> after-abortion care. There are hundreds of pro-life post-abortion support groups<\/a>, Bible studies, healing retreats, and organizations supporting post-abortive people.<\/p>\n

Pro-lifers have been saying abortion hurts people for decades. Now, so many people are suffering from abortion trauma that even pro-abortion activists are forced to admit it.<\/p>\n
