Through the efforts of the Abortion Pill Rescue Network\u00ae (APRN) and a pregnancy center in Miami, Florida, she and her pre-born child did not undergo the devastation of abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Googled \u2018abortion regret,\u2019 and immediately found the Abortion Pill Reversal,&#8221; Katianna said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Heartbeatofmiami\/videos\/678453093472583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a>\u00a0produced when she was 25 weeks along. \u201cI was skeptical \u2013 I had never heard of this before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She visited the APRN website and took the next step: she called and spoke with a nurse. After asking several questions, the APRN staff member put Katianna in touch with a physician in her area of Miami, who, in turn, contacted the Heartbeat of Miami pregnancy center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FHeartbeatofmiami%2Fvideos%2F678453093472583%2F&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=267&amp;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"591\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cKatianna was devastated after she realized what she had done,\u201d said Martha Avila, executive director of Heartbeat of Miami.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe had already taken the first two doses of the abortion pill,\u201d Avila said. \u201cShe was desperate to get help to save her baby\u2019s life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Staff at the Heartbeat of Miami center provided an ultrasound to ensure the young woman\u2019s baby still had a heartbeat. Katianna continued the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) protocol, and last month she delivered a healthy baby girl, whom she named Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the bottom of my heart, I want to say, \u2018thank you,\u2019\u201d Katianna said. \u201cI\u2019m extremely blessed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it weren\u2019t for their help, how quick, how knowledgeable, and how effective the treatment was, I would be sad and depressed,\u201d she said, \u201cand my baby would not be alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionpillreversal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">APR<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/abortion-pill-reversal-a-record-of-safety-and-efficacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">newer application<\/a> of a treatment used since the 1950s to prevent miscarriage. It involves prescribing a bioidentical version of progesterone, the natural hormone found in a woman\u2019s body during pregnancy, to counter the effects of the first pill in a chemical abortion, mifepristone.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2018 peer-reviewed study APR had positive results, with 64%-68% of the pregnancies saved through the protocol, no increase in birth defects, and a lower preterm delivery rate than in the general population.<\/p>\n<p>If a pregnant woman has taken the first abortion pill and has regret and she acts quickly enough, it may be possible to save her pre-born child though APR.<\/p>\n<p>Successful reversals have taken place as long as 72 hours after the first abortion pill was taken, but results are best within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FSK9ptRccYM\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/our-work\/apr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">APRN<\/a> consists of roughly 1,000 providers who facilitate APR and is managed by <a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/%20https:\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Heartbeat International<\/a>, the largest network of pregnancy help organizations in the world. The APR Network reports that to date, 3,000 lives and counting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/aprn-lives-saved\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have been saved through APR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Like many women, Katianna felt pressured to abort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe stated that she felt pressured to do the abortion by her partner who did not support her and did not want anything to do with the pregnancy,\u201d Avila said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeep down she always wanted her baby but was pressured by boyfriend and family to do an abortion,\u201d Avila continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt I had no choice,\u201d Katianna said.<\/p>\n<p>Pressure to abort is common.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/forced-abortions-in-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">special report<\/a> from Heartbeat International reveals 64 percent of women who have abortions are coerced, whether by their partners, family, or employer. Such pressure can escalate into violence. Homicide is a leading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-021-03392-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cause of death<\/a> for pregnant women, and <a href=\"https:\/\/wreg.com\/news\/local\/man-charged-with-double-murder-after-killing-pregnant-woman-police-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">such deaths<\/a> have occurred across the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-life-obgyns-launch-abortion-pill-reversal\/\">Pro-life OB-GYNs launch initiative to increase abortion pill reversal providers<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Katianna took a brave step to reach out to the APRN. Heartbeat of Miami assisted her with follow-up ultrasounds, keeping in contact with her physician and guiding Katianna with securing healthcare coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Katianna received counseling, encouragement, and the Word of God, Avila said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was so grateful that she was willing to share her testimony so that other women could also have an opportunity to save their baby\u2019s life,\u201d Avila told<em> Pregnancy Help News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Katianna is one of many APR cases Heartbeat of Miami has seen during the past few years, according to Avila, who founded the Florida organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank God Almighty!\u201d Avila said. \u201cOf all the cases that we have seen, the Lord has just given that opportunity of a second chance (for the women and their unborn).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat an awesome blessing to witness God\u2019s miracles,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>During the COVID-19 shutdown of 2020, Avila said she convinced officials to allow Heartbeat of Miami stay open, providing essential services. One of those services was APR.<\/p>\n<p>Avila recalled another APR case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mom was pregnant with her seventh child,\u201d she said. \u201cShe was so regretful (after taking the abortion pill) that she started looking, and she found APR (online).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the middle of everything that was happening with the pandemic, it would have been so easy to have said, \u2018Okay, whatever \u2013 it\u2019s a done deal,\u2019\u201d Avila said. \u201cBut no; she continued to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was super grateful that she continued to seek a way out and how God allowed this beautiful baby to be born!\u201d said Avila. \u201cIt was just like taking a tool at every level, to know first of all that APR was there, and then that we were open during that difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first Heartbeat of Miami center opened in 2007. What began as one pregnancy help clinic grew to four over the years, with all locations offering medical services, including APR.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have two doctors that we work with very closely,\u201d Avila said. \u201cThey immediately send the client to us and then we do the ultrasound. We continue to follow up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Offering APR brings joy to Avila, her staff, board members, and donors.
