At the same time, the task force is\u00a0receiving pressure from pro-abortion legislators from the Committee on Oversight and Reform, who wrote their own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=0000017f-92ab-d4fc-a1ff-beaf63250000\">letter<\/a> asking for <em>more<\/em> access to the pill with <em>fewer safeguards<\/em> in the name of expanding access to abortions, regardless of the effect it has on women.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-task-force-protect-bolster-abortion\/\">Live Action News previously reported<\/a> on the formation of the pro-abortion task force, designed specifically to \u201cprotect and bolster\u201d abortion in the country and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rep. Buddy Carter, who authored the pro-life legislators&#8217; letter, posted a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepBuddyCarter\/status\/1503742626381672459?s=20&amp;t=Kkhy-NxDxdPSBG7_4EbR2A\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tweet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> calling the task force \u201ca direct assault on states&#8217; work to protect innocent children&#8221; which &#8220;must be stopped.\u201d The letter starts by pointing out that \u201cOn the 49th anniversary of the Supreme Court\u2019s Roe v. Wade decision, your Department [the HHS] announced the formation of a new Task Force that has labeled terminating the lives of unborn children to be <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018essential sexual and reproductive health care<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u2019\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The task force, says the letter, is just another example of pushing abortion through U.S. health policy, other examples of which include making the abortion pill less safe, offering millions of dollars to abortion businesses, and attempting to undermine Texas\u2019 SB8 law, the Texas Heartbeat Act.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abortion is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-never-medically-health-care\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not health care<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, points out the pro-life legislators&#8217; letter \u2013 it takes the life of a preborn baby, and funding for abortion doesn\u2019t give women the support they <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">actually<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> need. \u201cSince 1973, 63 million innocent lives have been lost to abortion. Women deserve better than abortion. They deserve the support they need to care for their babies and themselves.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-fundamental-women-equality\/\">Op-ed peddles lie that abortion is fundamental to women\u2019s equality<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The letter goes on to cite statistics showing that a majority of Americans are against taxpayer-funded abortion at home and abroad despite the current administration&#8217;s policies. Given the amount of pro-life legislation passed in recent years, this policy against the will of the people of the United States. \u201cThe taxpayer dollars that fund HHS should be focused on promoting the highest quality of health information and care to all individuals, both born and unborn. They should not be used to promote a pro-abortion agenda in a shameless attempt to override the pro-life legislation that is being promoted in the states and defended in countries around the world.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live Action News\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/african-pro-life-activist-destroys-myth-that-poor-countries-need-abortion-its-colonization\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the pro-life leaders from other countries who aptly label this exportation of pro-abortion ideology as \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-activists-ideological-colonization-latin-america\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">colonization<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pro-life letter ended with a list of eight questions seeking to shed light on the task force, seeking to clarify the task force\u2019s funding source and whether it would appropriate taxpayer dollars to undermine a democratic process in potentially targeting states that have pro-life legislation on the books.
