The generic manufacturer of the abortion pill \u2014 GenBioPro \u2014 claims to have captured a significant share of the nationwide market for mifepristone,\u00a0according to a letter<\/a>\u00a0submitted to a U.S. District Court. The letter, submitted last year in GenBioPro, Inc. v. Dobbs<\/a><\/em>, indicates that GenBioPro is shipping its mifepristone abortion pill tablets to providers in 45 states, and is partnering with Planned Parenthood “to provide mifepristone to Planned Parenthood Southeast\u2019s clinics” in Alabama as well as Georgia.<\/p>\n

The April 2021 letter<\/a>\u00a0written by Latham & Watkins, LLP\u00a0states in part, “GenBioPro sells and ships its mifepristone tablets to providers in 45 states and the District of Columbia. GenBioPro does not currently sell mifepristone in Mississippi, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, or Wyoming. Since GenBioPro received FDA-approval in April 2019 to market and sell mifepristone, GenBioPro has captured a significant share of the nationwide market for mifepristone,” the letter states.<\/p>\n

“While GenBioPro has yet to sell mifepristone in Mississippi, GenBioPro currently has a Prescriber Agreement in place with Planned Parenthood Southeast, Inc. to provide mifepristone to Planned Parenthood Southeast\u2019s clinics. Planned Parenthood Southeast has four clinics in Georgia, two clinics in Alabama, and one clinic in Mississippi. Planned Parenthood Southeast has authorized GenBioPro to ship mifepristone to all of Planned Parenthood Southeast\u2019s clinics except the Mississippi clinic,” it also states.<\/p>\n

In 1994, with the\u00a0encouragement<\/a>\u00a0of the Clinton administration, French\u00a0pharmaceutical manufacturer Roussel-Uclaf assigned the\u00a0U.S. rights<\/a>\u00a0of marketing and\u00a0distribution<\/a>\u00a0of the abortion pill, known then as RU-486, to the eugenics-founded Population Council<\/a>. The right to distribute the drugs was\u00a0later<\/a>\u00a0handed over to Danco Laboratories, a\u00a0sub-licensee<\/a>\u00a0of the Population Council and the manufacturer responsible for the production of the branded version, Mifeprex, after approval<\/a> by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2000.<\/p>\n

The FDA later\u00a0approved<\/a> GenBioPro, Inc.\u2019s abbreviated new drug application<\/a> for a generic Mifeprex on April 11, 2019, which, when used with misoprostol, is approved as an abortion pill regimen. The FDA\u00a0states<\/a>\u00a0(emphasis added),\u00a0\u201cThis approval reflects FDA\u2019s determination that GenBioPro\u2019s product, Mifepristone Tablets, 200 mg, is therapeutically equivalent to Mifeprex and can be safely substituted for Mifeprex.\u00a0Like Mifeprex, the approved generic product is indicated for the medical termination of intrauterine pregnancy through 70 days gestation<\/strong>\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investors<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just like the originally approved and highly\u00a0secretive<\/a>\u00a0abortion pill manufacturer\u00a0Danco Laboratories<\/a>\u00a0was seeded\u00a0with $14.2 million<\/a>\u00a0in investment dollars from the pro-abortion David and Lucile Packard Foundation,\u00a0GenBioPro has also been seeded\u00a0with funding from this abortion philanthropy group. According to a recent\u00a0IRS document<\/a>\u00a0(below) obtained by Live Action News, the Packard Foundation has\u00a0invested<\/a> millions in\u00a0GenBioPro<\/a>:<\/p>\n
