The newly-elected leader, 44-year-old\u00a0Katalin Nov\u00e1k, previously served as the country&#8217;s\u00a0Family Affairs Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Novak, a mother of three, discussed the importance of families in her victory speech, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2022\/03\/10\/hungary-just-elected-its-first-female-president-and-shes-pro-life-and-pro-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noting<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cHaving children was one of the most important decisions of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am ready for this task, I am all prepared. I have to represent all Hungarians. I will remain who I am,\u201d she said. \u201cTo do this, I will not take the cross from my neck, but I will press it to my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Novak has made comments in which she established that having children is necessary for a flourishing world.\u00a0\u201cIf you don\u2019t have children, for whom do you preserve the planet for?\u201d she said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pro-life-pro-family-mother-becomes-first-female-president-of-hungary??utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwtwitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Wire<\/a>. \u201cYou want to preserve it because you want to give it to your children and grandchildren\u2026 you cannot argue with something like that in Hungary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-abortion-pill-22-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>TRAGIC: 22-week baby boy died after Planned Parenthood gave his mother the abortion pill<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At least one group is speaking out in support of the nation&#8217;s first female president. \u201cKatalin Nov\u00e1k has been a significant champion for families and the thriving of all Hungarians,\u201d Institute for Women President Valerie Huber said in a statement, according to The Daily Wire. \u201cThe family is the backbone of every healthy society, and is critical to the health and thriving of women, men, and children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to her victory signaling Hungary\u2019s continued commitment to the principles of the Geneva Consensus Declaration,\u201d added Huber. \u201cAs minister, she implemented family-friendly incentives and family protections, but she also stood as a courageous woman in the defense of every Hungarian through thriving families. I am convinced she will do the same as Hungary\u2019s first woman president!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hungary has taken steps in recent years to establish itself as a champion for families, initiating policies meant to protect life and encourage family growth. In 2011, the country enacted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constituteproject.org\/constitution\/Hungary_2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">constitution<\/a>\u00a0that reads,\u00a0\u201cembryonic and fetal life shall be subject to protection from the moment of conception.\u201d Some of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/declining-fertility-rates-worldwide-hungary-approach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pro-family policies<\/a> include significant tax deductions for parents with children, three years paid parental leave, state-funded day care, and subsidized vacations. These generous policies are also said to have contributed to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hungary-abortion-numbers-plunge-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drop<\/a> in the number of abortions within the country.
