An abortion pill pharmacy shipping drugs across the United States on behalf of virtual abortion pill dispensaries and Planned Parenthood appears to be operating out of the same facility as a used car dealership.<\/p>\n

According to pro-life researcher Lynn Mills, tax records<\/a> on file with the City of Warren, Michigan, show that the American Mail Order Pharmacy (AMOP<\/a>) and\u00a0Sams Motor Car Sales<\/a> (SMS) are\u00a0owned<\/a>\u00a0by licensed<\/a> pharmacist\u00a0Samuel Awada<\/a>, and are both<\/em> located inside the same location, a building constructed in 1924. A sign on the property visible from Google Street validates this fact.<\/p>\n

Recent published interviews reveal that\u00a0multiple unregulated virtual abortion pill dispensaries are utilizing AMOP in the\u00a0ever-expanding<\/a>\u00a0‘wild west’ of abortion pill distribution. All that is needed for these businesses that mail abortion drugs to women and minors<\/a> in various states is a computer, a telephone, and a partnership with a\u00a0pharmacy<\/a> like AMOP. The new frontier of mail order DIY chemical abortion is reminiscent of the early days of decriminalized abortion following Roe v. Wade,<\/em> when unscrupulous\u00a0abortion profiteers<\/a> \u2014\u00a0including used car salesmen<\/a> \u2014\u00a0waded into the abortion business, leaving injured and sometimes dead women in their wake.<\/p>\n

According to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy, Awada and AMOP are both listed<\/a> as holding current licenses. AMOP’s “privacy policy” located at the company’s website<\/a> verifies a location at 23290 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan, 48089. A check of licensed auto dealers at the Michigan Secretary of State’s\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0reveals that Sams Motor Car Sales<\/a>\u00a0has an active and current business license and is operating at the same location as the AMOP abortion pill pharmacy.<\/p>\n

Live Action News previously<\/a> documented that AMOP is the pharmacy of choice\u00a0used<\/a>\u00a0by Christie Pitney at\u00a0Forward Midwifery<\/a>, a\u00a0MYA Network<\/a>\u00a0member, to ship abortion pills to her clients. Likewise, Dr. Julie Amaon,\u00a0medical director<\/a>\u00a0for online abortion pill dispensary Abortion Delivered (a.k.a. Just The Pill),\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0Ms. Magazine they also use AMOP depending \u201con the state and shipping address.\u201d\u00a0Dr. Jamie Phifer<\/a>, founder of the online abortion pill site Abortion on Demand (AOD),\u00a0named<\/a>\u00a0just American Mail Order Pharmacy as their go-to. In addition, Whole Woman\u2019s Health (WWH) abortionist\u00a0Alison Case\u00a0admitted<\/a>\u00a0to Ms. Magazine that their abortion chain also<\/em> uses American Mail Order Pharmacy.<\/p>\n

In addition, Planned Parenthood appears to be using AMOP, as indicated by the PP of Metro Washington DC website<\/a>, which states, “The abortion medications are mailed in a discrete package to your address (the package return address will say the pharmacy name ‘AMOP’ and not ‘Planned Parenthood’) or you can choose to pick them up in the health center.”<\/p>\n

AMOP,\u00a0founded<\/a>\u00a0in 2006, was also recently acknowledged for its assistance in a\u00a0study<\/a>\u00a0conducted by Dr. Daniel Grossman<\/a>, a former NARAL and NAF board member who has been seeking to expand access to the abortion pill.<\/p>\n

According to a preliminary analysis by the Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood\u2019s former \u201cspecial affiliate<\/a>\u201d) the abortion pill has now \u201ccrossed the threshold to become the majority of all abortions\u201d committed in the United States.\u00a0Guttmacher now estimates that chemical abortion pills made up an estimated 54%<\/strong> of all US abortions in 2020.\u00a0Using reported abortions recorded by Guttmacher for\u00a02017<\/a>, we can estimate that about 465,000 abortions are now being committed annually in the United States using abortion drugs.<\/p>\n

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA)\u00a0December 16, 2021<\/a>, modifications to safety regulations for the abortion pill (REMS<\/a>) removed the in-person requirement for abortion drugs, enabling women and minor girls to access the deadly pills\u00a0virtually<\/a>, with little to no follow-up<\/a>. The FDA\u2019s\u00a0modifications<\/a>\u00a0now require\u00a0\u201c<\/em>pharmacies that dispense the drug be certified\u201d but does not specify what the certification process entails.<\/p>\n

While AMOP and the California-based Honeybee Health are openly shipping<\/a> abortion pills by mail already, the FDA has yet to publish its pharmacy certification process for Mifeprex online. A ruling by the FDA on that process is expected at any time.<\/p>\n

History seems to once again be repeating itself under the latest DIY, at-home abortion pill terrain, with the industry clearly\u00a0moving backwards<\/a>\u00a0by partnering with used car salesmen and by off-loading the cost, risk, and\u00a0emotional impact<\/a>\u00a0of this\u00a0lucrative business<\/a>\u00a0onto the backs of women and teenaged girls. And while the FDA caves to political pressure from the abortion lobby to expand access to the abortion pill, the industry is quickly morphing into little more than a group of\u00a0abortion drug dealers<\/a>\u00a0pushing their deadly pills \u2014 sometimes disguised<\/a> as “missed period” pills \u2014 outside brick and mortar facilities or in\u00a0virtual spaces<\/a>\u00a0to entice women and minors to buy their dangerous<\/a> product.<\/p>\n
