Rebecca Gomperts, a Dutch abortionist <\/span>who illegally ships<\/span><\/a> Indian abortion pills around the world<\/span>,<\/span><\/a> outrageously calls abortion a \u201chuman right\u201d and claims that governments restrict abortion to harm women\u2019s health and keep people poor.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent interview with <\/span>Ms. Magazine<\/span><\/a>, Gomperts said she founded Aid Access, her criminal organization which has provided abortion pills to over 30,000 American women since 2018, because she thinks abortion is a human right that empowers women.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a human right to get abortion pills\u2026This is really about empowering women and pregnant people who do their own abortions, which they have a right to do with medicines, and empowering them so they understand that they don\u2019t have to be intimidated by police or anybody else,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gomperts overlooks the fact that the human right to life is the basic foundation and source of all other rights<\/a>. As the American Declaration of Independence states: \u201cAll men are created equal\u2026 they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights\u2026Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The ability to kill with abortion could not be called a human right because it contradicts the primary human right to life. Governments exist to safeguard the right to life and all the rights which follow from it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Abortion not only destroys the life of the child \u2013 it is harmful and potentially deadly for mothers. Ambulance calls<\/a> to abortion facilities abound; many women have died from legal abortion, and far more have been injured, some severely.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gomperts claims that the abortion pills she sells are medicinal, and safe enough to be supplied in pharmacies.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI think this is a medicine that should be available over the counter,” she said. “It has the safety profile for that. It\u2019s safer than many of the painkillers that you can buy in any pharmacy or drugstore. The reason why it\u2019s not there has to do with politics and not medical science.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite her statements, recent studies have disproved Gomperts\u2019 and other abortionists\u2019 false claims that the abortion pill is as safe as medicines like Tylenol<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>One<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>study<\/a> found that 6% of women who took the abortion pill visited the emergency room or an urgent care center for abortion pill-related complications, and just over 4% required surgical interventions. Those findings <\/span>mirror<\/a> data from the UK. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, a 2021 <\/span>population-based longitudinal cohort study<\/a> on the abortion pill which reviewed 423,000 confirmed induced abortions from 1999-2015\u00a0<\/span>concluded<\/a> that the rate of abortion-related emergency room visits following a chemical abortion <\/span>increased over 500%<\/span><\/i> between 2002 and 2015 within the study population.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the fact that restrictions on the abortion pill are based on medical science, Gomperts, like many others, pretends that the restrictions are only for \u201cpolitical\u201d reasons. She<\/span>\u00a0claims that the U.S. Supreme Court, in particular, aims to control people by causing poverty with abortion restrictions.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIf you can prevent abortion, you can keep people poor. And when you keep people poor, you can control them,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abortionists like Gomperts make money from desperate disadvantaged women seeking abortion. But unrestricted abortion is not making women wealthier, and it’s not solving the problem of poverty.\u00a0<\/span>According to a 2013<\/span> study<\/span><\/a> by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, women of a lower socioeconomic status and women of color have higher rates of abortion than other American women. These women need better resources to support themselves and their families, not better access to abortion. In the 50 years since Roe v. Wade<\/em>, it’s clear that abortion hasn’t been the solution to poverty<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gomperts overlooks the fact that many of the people advocating for life are not wealthy themselves or in positions of power. Her abortion business, on the other hand, is not only making money off the disadvantaged \u2013 it is leaving women and their children in disastrous and potentially deadly situations, cut off from the legal and health institutions in place to protect the<\/span>m.<\/span><\/p>\n
