As pro-life legislation continues its upward tick<\/a> around the nation, the abortion industry is working to strengthen its position in states that are considered abortion-friendly. Pro-lifers in these states should be aware of efforts from Planned Parenthood and other providers, because even when states allow abortion, citizens still have the power to prevent abortion facilities from opening in their communities.<\/p>\n

According to a recent story by WHBL<\/a>, Planned Parenthood is doing what it can to enlarge current facilities and open new ones in abortion-friendly states like California, Nevada, Illinois,\u00a0Minnesota, New York, and Virginia. One example is a logistics facility<\/a> in Illinois, near the Missouri border. The abortion giant hopes to use the facility to attract out-of-state women seeking an abortion. And so far, it seems to be working<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are getting ready for this post-Roe world and getting ready to continue to be the safety net for patients from all over the country,\u201d said Dr. Jessica Hamilton, associate medical director for abortion services at a Planned Parenthood chapter that covers much of California and Nevada.<\/p>\n

While a state’s extreme abortion laws may mean that Planned Parenthood will seek to expand its services there, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will succeed. Often, boots-on-the-ground activism from local citizens plays a big role in determining whether or not an abortion facility is able to move in. Just recently, pro-life activists were successful<\/a> in preventing a 6,500 square foot Planned Parenthood from opening in Brighton, New York. Right now, others are fighting a facility that hopes to open in Visalia, California<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As with the Visalia location, Planned Parenthood isn’t always forthright when submitting its applications for business. In fact, city council members were unaware that the “medical facility” they approved was a Planned Parenthood until a local real estate developer brought it to their attention. Once it was revealed, the community took action and is now fighting to prevent the abortion provider from opening up shop.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood told WHBL it is also considering opening an expanded location in Reno, Nevada \u2014\u00a0however, that location’s address is not being disclosed for “safety and security reasons.” In reality, the address is likely being kept under wraps because Planned Parenthood knows the power of pro-life advocates who have been successful<\/a> at stopping previous facilities from opening.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood isn’t the only abortion provider looking to expand. Whole Woman’s Health also plans to increase its services in Minnesota in the hopes of attracting business from states with heavier restrictions on abortion.<\/p>\n

While these actions may appear alarming, it is\u00a0clear that the abortion industry senses the changing tide in the hearts and minds of the American people. Many states are passing legislation to restrict abortion and the Supreme Court is considering the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization<\/em>, which may lead to the overturning of\u00a0Roe v. Wade.<\/em> The abortion industry is on the defensive.<\/p>\n
