A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prweek.com\/article\/1738675\/aclu-reframes-abortion-bans-forced-pregnancy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statement released with the most recent video<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stated that the group&#8217;s goal in using such loaded (and dishonest) terminology was to fight back against the growing number of abortion restrictions being proposed or enacted across the country, and to push back against the potential for the Supreme Court to overturn <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a decision in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dobbs v Jackson<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<em>Women&#8217;s Health Organization<\/em> case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PR spot is portrayed in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/668721035\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">style of a pharmaceutical TV ad<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and shows a woman examining a pregnancy test and then conversing with a doctor. \u201cAre you seeking an abortion? Talk to your doctor today,\u201d the spot begins. In the style of a pharma ad\u2019s medical disclaimers, the ACLU spot lists the potential barriers to obtaining abortions. To sympathetic, swelling strings music, the voice-over falsely states that abortion is \u201cessential healthcare,\u201d and that \u201cunnecessary restrictions and politically-motivated bans may apply.\u201d Fine print on the bottom of the screen reiterates that message, and the end of the ad threatens, \u201cabortion is subject to political attacks and may soon be unavailable.\u201d Finally, the screen darkens and bold text declares, \u201cBanning abortion is FORCING PREGNANCY.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/coerced-abortion-more-common\/\">Coerced abortion: It\u2019s far more common than you think<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the idea of \u201cforced pregnancy\u201d is a nonsensical concept. The vast majority of all pregnancies arise through consensual sex, one potential result of which is pregnancy. Pregnancy itself is a natural biological process with a natural and expected end (if all goes well): the birth of a baby. Once that process has begun, that new human being continues to develop in the womb naturally unless a miscarriage occurs, or <em>force<\/em> (abortion) is used to purposely\u00a0<em>end<\/em> that life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preventing the killing of a preborn child is not comparable to forcing a woman into a state of pregnancy to begin with. A pregnant woman is already a mother, with a child in her womb. Abortion\u00a0<em>forcibly removes a child<\/em> from his or her natural environment in the womb. As noted by Alexandra DeSanctis at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/the-aclu-doesnt-know-where-babies-come-from\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cLaws against abortion don\u2019t force women to be pregnant; they require parents who conceived a child after engaging in the act by which children are conceived not to enact lethal violence as a means of ending pregnancy or avoiding parenthood.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What the ACLU also fails to acknowledge is that the growing number of restrictions on abortion is a reflection of what the American people support. This is shown in recent Marist polls, as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-americans-abortion-restrictions-pills-mail\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live Action News has reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where 71% of people of any political affiliation want abortion to be heavily restricted and regulated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changing the language around abortion is an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/newspeak\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orwellian<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> attempt to change the way people think about it. \u201cForced pregnancy\u201d is a term that makes no sense in itself, and attempts to bypass the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ugly reality of abortion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in an appeal to a liberty while ignoring a human being&#8217;s right to life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a> for more pro-life news and commentary!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is attempting to reframe the abortion debate by labeling abortion restrictions as \u201cforced pregnancy.\u201d\u00a0 The ACLU has been pushing this phrasing in a variety of media, including video spots since at least last fall.
