It was an attempt to showcase that abortion is common and therefore acceptable, and that restrictions on abortion are harmful. But the site likely didn&#8217;t get what it was expecting, as pro-life responses flooded in.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">At the ultrasound for my 2nd pregnancy we were told our baby had Down Syndrome and her heart was incompatible with life. She wrote, &#8220;At the ultrasound for my 2nd pregnancy we were told our baby had Down Syndrome and her heart was incompatible with life. They encouraged us to end the pregnancy. She&#8217;s completely healthy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another parent <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rzima\/status\/1475405852471402501\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>, &#8220;We had an NIPT test at 10 weeks which detected Trisomy 21. 20 week ultrasound revealed ventricular septal defect with aortic override. We were adamant we were keeping her no matter what. And she&#8217;s amazing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I found myself unexpectedly pregnant at the age of 22 in my last semester of college with my daughter. Her father and I decided to marry, and she is still the most unexpected blessing in our lives. I cannot imagine a world without her joyful presence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nekochan replied about abortion regret, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MediaTruthOrDie\/status\/1475166589494312961\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealing<\/a>, &#8220;I know three women that have had abortions. All three were talked into it by someone else. All three say it&#8217;s the biggest regret they have in their lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One heartbroken father <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Dave4Liberty\/status\/1474941102859984899\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>, &#8220;Does years of psychological pain, depression, regret, guilt, and anger because you had to stand helplessly by as someone legally murdered your daughter, count as an abortion story?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One woman <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SashaRedding\/status\/1475237308655882250\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed<\/a> her own abortions and the regret she has suffered. &#8220;Had multiple abortions,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;Convinced myself they were just &#8216;cells&#8217;. Got older, got married, had a child. When I saw my child being born, I realized what awful, horrific choices I had made. Forgive us God, for we know not what we do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another woman who underwent an abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RebekahFerro\/status\/1475210520357601280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared<\/a> her heartbreak as well. &#8220;Yes, I do,&#8221; she replied. &#8220;I experienced an unplanned pregnancy at 18 and chose to have an abortion. It was a traumatic experience and I still wonder all the time who my son would be today. Stop telling women abortion is their ultimate freedom. I never felt empowered by it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My mom was raped and faced family pressure to abort, but she chose to keep me and raised me alone. 5 months ago my wife and I just had our first child and none of this would have happened had she followed through with people\u2019s \u201csuggestions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Dean Cullinane (@DeanCullinane) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DeanCullinane\/status\/1475169024396779520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 26, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>A young man conceived in rape <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DeanCullinane\/status\/1475169024396779520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commented<\/a>, &#8220;My mom was raped and faced family pressure to abort, but she chose to keep me and raised me alone. 5 months ago my wife and I had our first child and none of this would have happened had she followed through with people&#8217;s &#8216;suggestions&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lupa Smailliw <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Luap2ll2\/status\/1475331493559996420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">replied<\/a> to FiveThirtyEight, saying, &#8220;I used to run routes for a biomedical reference lab, Triangle Park headquartered. I had several stops on my route that involved picking up aborted fetuses. [&#8230;] the staff would arrange the fetuses in funny positions and laugh, leaving them there so I would see before getting them ready for pick up. These were my friends. I laughed along with them. Years later, it occurred to me the horror of what they were doing. They made themselves laugh in order to dehumanize that that they knew were human, but wanted to believe otherwise. I hope they eventually came to the same conclusion I did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As these pro-life comments streamed in, abortion advocates became defensive, ridiculing and mocking the pro-lifers who spoke out against abortion. One pro-abortion man even <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/petrol_blunt\/status\/1475305175455830016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>, &#8220;Got a girl pregnant at 17. She aborted and now im walking around with a good job not paying child support.&#8221; His remarks are nearly identical to those parodied in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=o950k2HffWw&amp;t=1s\">#ProChoiceMen Live Action video here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Michael Egnor <a href=\"https:\/\/mindmatters.ai\/2021\/12\/political-websites-christmas-gift-to-readers-promoting-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> about the Twitter thread, saying, &#8220;[E]very day I treat kids (and adults) who were prime candidates for abortion, but by the grace of God escaped the abortionist&#8217;s tools.\u00a0[&#8230;] Even for children with serious diagnoses, the outlook is often much better than the abortion-happy medical profession tells families in crisis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added, &#8220;Shame on\u00a0<em>FiveThirtyEight<\/em>\u00a0for publishing this abortion endorsement on Christmas Day of all days.
