The goal of Live Action News is to educate, inspire, and change hearts and minds with articles that inform readers about the dignity of all human life, beginning at the moment of fertilization. In 2021, Live Action News published nearly 2,200 articles and received nearly 12 million unique page views. Despite another year of a global pandemic, we attempted to keep our focus on abortion and other life issues in an effort to ensure that the fight for the most vulnerable human beings among us was not forgotten in the midst of the fight against COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Our 2021 articles helped to reveal the dignity and humanity of preborn children, as well as the elderly and those with special needs and disabilities. In addition, we kept readers informed about not only attempts to expand the culture of death around the world, but also efforts to promote a global culture of life.<\/p>\n

Below are our top 10 articles for 2021 based on page views, counting down from #10:<\/p>\n

10. Black pro-life leader on the crisis of abortion: \u2018If you can\u2019t get out of the womb, nothing matters\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Published in February, this article featured an interview with Pastor Walter Hoye, who discussed abortion’s impact on the Black community. It was viewed approximately 86,000 times. Pastor Hoye told Live Action News that he feels the Black community is self-destructing because of abortion.<\/p>\n

“Whether we want to admit it or not, we\u2019re killing ourselves \u2014 again, we\u2019re responsible,” he said. “When you look at all these problems with abortion, the problem isn\u2019t ‘Margaret Sanger fooled us.’ That\u2019s not the problem… the problem has always been us.” Hoye added, “We\u2019ve always known what abortion is and what abortion does. Actor and martial artist Chuck Norris’s comments from January were read by 88,000 visitors to Live Action News. Norris was responding to a poll of Canadians that showed just 26% believed abortion to be always or usually morally wrong, while 51% in the same poll felt that using plastic drinking straws was always or usually morally wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cAm I missing something?\u201d asked Norris. \u201cDo you value bamboo straws more than human life? In the womb?\u201d<\/p>\n

8. On 48th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Biden vows to \u2018codify\u2019 it, appoint pro-abortion judges<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Biden-Harris Administration is committed to codifying Roe v. Wade<\/em> and appointing judges that respect foundational precedents like Roe,\u201d said Biden, adding that his administration is “deeply committed to making sure everyone has access to care \u2014 including reproductive health care \u2014 regardless of income, race, zip code, health insurance status, or immigration status.\u201d<\/p>\n

7. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says pro-life voters give her \u2018great grief as a Catholic\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In a January podcast, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told former First Lady Hillary Clinton that it gave her “great grief as a Catholic” to know that many voters believe the right to life of preborn human beings is more important than many other social and economic issues during an election.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Y]ou take the abortion issue \u2014 and many of these people are very good people; that\u2019s just their point of view,\u201d claimed Pelosi. \u201cBut they were willing to sell the whole democracy down the river for that one issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

6. Biden set to immediately undo Trump administration\u2019s pro-life policies<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Also published in January, this article discussing President Biden’s intention to unravel every pro-life measure enacted during the Trump administration was read approximately 117,000 times. Biden, a self-avowed Catholic, promised to end the Mexico City Policy, which had prevented\u00a0U.S. funding from going to foreign organizations that promote, refer for, or commit abortions \u2014 and he did.<\/p>\n

Biden promised to make it a priority to end Hyde Amendment protections, which for decades had kept American federal taxpayers from funding most abortions. With the help of a pro-abortion Congress, this federal protection has been largely eliminated from spending bills.<\/p>\n

Biden also promised to undo Trump-era Title X rules requiring abortion providers to separate their family planning\/birth control operations both physically and fiscally from their abortion business \u2014 and he did.<\/p>\n

Biden also promised to work to force even religious employers with conscience objections to pay for potentially abortifacient birth control for employees — something the Trump administration had allowed them to opt out of.<\/p>\n

5. US House passes Equality Act, trampling on preborn babies and rights of conscience<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This article from February was viewed 117,000 times and discussed the U.S. House’s passage of the Equality Act, which alleged to “prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.” However, the bill actually discriminated against people who morally or religiously object to participating in procedures such as abortion. According to the article:<\/p>\n

The Act changes the definition of \u201csex\u201d to include \u201cpregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition\u201d and overrides religious freedom protections, forcing employers to pay for abortions through health insurance programs regardless of religious objections. The Act also forces state taxpayers to fund abortions through their Medicaid programs.<\/em><\/p>\n

Medical staff or insurance plans refusing to participate would be forced to do so under Medicaid\/Medicare Services requirements, and refusing to participate in abortion would be viewed as “pregnancy discrimination,” with pregnancy viewed as an illness.<\/p>\n

4. Pro-life ministry founder\u2019s daughter Ember is born, spends precious hour with family after birth<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This article, published in November and viewed approximately 128,000 times, featured the story of Joe and Ann Baker and their sons as they welcomed daughter Ember, who was prenatally diagnosed with a life-limiting condition.<\/p>\n

Before her birth, the Bakers traveled to numerous locations on an “Ember tour” and encouraged people to send them brightly colored artwork to hang in the delivery room. Ember arrived on November 4, weighing\u00a04 lbs. 14 oz. and measuring 15.75 inches. She spent a precious one hour and six minutes with her family after her birth before she passed away.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe loved her well, and it was life-changing for our whole family,\u201d Joe Baker told Live Action News. \u201cIt\u2019s just amazing to see this little baby. She was very peaceful, and it was just precious, just that little bit of time. She just felt loved.\u201d<\/p>\n

3. San Francisco archbishop rebukes Pelosi: \u2018No Catholic in good conscience can favor abortion\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone has been very vocal this year regarding the unacceptability of abortion, and often in direct response to statements made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is a self-described Catholic.<\/p>\n

Published in January and viewed approximately 130,000 times, the archbishop responded to comments made by Pelosi in a podcast with Hillary Clinton (see #7 above), writing:<\/p>\n

To begin with the obvious: Nancy Pelosi does not speak for the Catholic Church. She speaks as a high-level important government leader, and as a private citizen. And on the question of the equal dignity of human life in the womb, she also speaks in direct contradiction to a fundamental human right that Catholic teaching has consistently championed for 2,000 years….<\/em><\/p>\n

There are many issues of very grave moral consequence that Catholics must weigh in good conscience when they vote. But one thing is clear: No Catholic in good conscience can favor abortion. \u2018Right to choose\u2019 is a smokescreen for perpetuating an entire industry that profits from one of the most heinous evils imaginable. Our land is soaked with the blood of the innocent, and it must stop.<\/em><\/p>\n

2. Biden instructs HHS to review Trump\u2019s Title X rule, restore funding to Planned Parenthood<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In January, President Biden signed a memorandum instructing HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to review Trump’s “Protect Life Rule” which, as mentioned in #6, had required abortion businesses to physically and fiscally separate their abortion-related services from their family planning-related services. But the Trump administration did not cut funding from Title X \u2014 it actually increased it.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood chose to walk away from $60 million in federal funding when the Protect Life Rule was instituted, but has since been restored to the Title X funding program.<\/p>\n

Published in January and receiving 204,000 unique page views, Live Action News’ #1 article of 2021 detailed the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to rescind the Mexico City Policy (or the\u00a0Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Policy) as one of President Biden’s first acts in office. This action by an American Catholic president restored federal taxpayer funding to organizations promoting and providing abortions in foreign countries.<\/p>\n

Polling has shown that the vast majority of Americans oppose funding abortions overseas, including even a majority of self-described “pro-choice” individuals.<\/p>\n

During the Trump administration, the Mexico City Policy was not only instituted, but expanded to apply to more government agencies than ever before.<\/p>\n

Attempts are still being made by pro-abortion lawmakers to rescind the Mexico City Policy permanently through legislative action.<\/p>\n
