Thanks to the autopilot mode of their Tesla, dad Keating was able to help mom Yiran give birth in the front seat while he drove.<\/p>\n<p>Yiran&#8217;s water broke while she was doing the laundry and preparing to take their three-year-old son Rafa (who was born via a C-section) to school on the morning of September 9. She thought they had time to drop Rafa off before heading to the hospital but her husband headed straight for the hospital, but her husband knew that &#8220;time was of the essence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FIndependent.ie%2Fposts%2F10160183539853470&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"487\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cWe assumed we were going to make it,\u201d Yiran told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/parents\/pregnancy\/mom-gives-birth-baby-tesla-autopilot-rcna9220\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TODAY Parents<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cI remember telling Keating, \u2018I think her head is coming out. I think her head is coming out.\u2019 But I was so focused on the map, where we are on the screen. Also, I\u2019m like, \u2018Should I push or hold it? Should I push or hold it? What should I do?\u2019 I just felt like I think I\u2019m supposed to push with each contraction. That\u2019s how all the movies and TV shows do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/preemie-weighing-bag-chips-home-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Preemie born weighing as much as a bag of chips comes home in time for Christmas<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The family hit rush hour traffic and Keating would intermittently put the car on autopilot so he could focus on his wife and check on Rafa in the backseat, and he is grateful the car has that feature. \u201cI figured my responsibility as a husband was to get my wife to the hospital safely. That was the number one objective.
