Here are four possibilities."},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)\u00a0has held in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-secrecy-women-deserve-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secrecy<\/a>\u00a0its process for originally approving the abortion pill two decades ago, and has likewise failed to show transparency in its recent decision to eliminate the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-removes-abortion-pill-safety-protocols-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in-person requirement<\/a>\u00a0for <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-permanently-loosens-abortion-pill-safety-measure\/\">dispensing<\/a> the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown what research the FDA relied on to arrive at its decision, but it is possible \u2014 even likely \u2014 that some of that research was authored by those on the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-abortion-experts-payroll-manufacturers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">payroll<\/a> of the abortion pill&#8217;s manufacturer, Danco.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_259354\" style=\"width: 453px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-259354\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-259354 \" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Questions-for-FDA-on-abortion-pill-by-mail-expansion-Image-Carole-Novielli-on-Twitter.jpg\" alt=\"Image: Questions for Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on abortion pill by mail expansion (Image: Carole Novielli on Twitter)\" width=\"443\" height=\"414\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-259354\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Questions for FDA on abortion pill by mail expansion (Image: Carole Novielli on Twitter)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/44-abortions-recent-cdc-report-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Studies<\/a>\u00a0from less questionable authors showed that the abortion pill has <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/analysis-fda-decision-ignores-data-on-complications-puts-women-at-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">potential risks<\/a>, with some research\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-rate-abortion-pill-er-visits-500\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicating<\/a> that a number of women and teens are visiting emergency departments with abortion pill complications.<\/p>\n<p>Just before the FDA&#8217;s review of the abortion pill&#8217;s safety requirements (REMS) was completed, the pro-abortion organization Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/can-we-trust-new-study-claiming-women-certain-about-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANSIRH<\/a>)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/research\/brief\/us-studies-medication-abortion-without-person-clinician-dispensing-mifepristone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">summarized<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;published results of U.S. studies of medication abortion that did not involve a clinician dispensing mifepristone in a clinic, medical office, or hospital.&#8221; According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2021-10\/Issue%20Brief_Summary%20of%20U.S.%20studies_MA%20w-o%20in-person%20clinician%20dispensing%20of%20mife_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANSIRH<\/a>, just &#8220;[f]our publications met our inclusion criteria.&#8221; Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-financial-conflicts-interest-politicians-media\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/studies-funded-abortion-supporters-attempt-disprove-women-regret-abortion\/\">here<\/a> about who ANSIRH is, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-manufacturer-training-flouts-fda\/\">what they do<\/a>\u00a0in their training of abortionists, and who <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/paying-millions-abortion-training-taxpayers\/\">funds<\/a> them (including abortion pill manufacturer Danco).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study #1: Expansion of a direct-to-patient telemedicine abortion service in the United States and experience during the<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>COVID-19 pandemic\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/telabortion-abortion-pill-study-increased-complications-er\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0included participants as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT02513043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">young<\/a>\u00a0as 10 years old and was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/article\/S0010-7824(21)00091-3\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0in the journal Contraception, which was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/article\/S0010-7824(15)30069-X\/pdf\">founded<\/a>\u00a0with a \u201cgenerous contribution\u201d from the Packard and Buffett Foundations, who are Danco investors.<\/p>\n<p>The study was conducted between\u00a0May 2016 and September 2020 at \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210901153438\/https:\/\/telabortion.org\/get-started\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10 institutions<\/a>\u00a0(4 independent clinics, 4 Planned Parenthood affiliates, and 2 academic medical centers)\u201d in 13 states and Washington, D.C. and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/action\/showPdf?pii=S0010-7824%2821%2900091-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">financed<\/a> by the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/?s=TARA+Health+foundation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tara Health Foundation<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bernard-and-anne-spitzer-charitable-trust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernard and Anne Spitzer Charitable Trust<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ldgfund.org\/grant-seekers\/interests-priorities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund<\/a>, and \u201cseveral anonymous donors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Contraception \u2014 unlike more reputable publications \u2014 allows \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-study-anonymous-medical-journal-allowing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anonymous donors<\/a>\u201d to fund abortion studies, leaving some to suspect potential conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n<p>Authors included Beverly Winikoff,\u00a0founder and President of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-study-second-trimester-minority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gynuity Health Projects<\/a> (GHP), which is heavily <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/expand-access-abortion-pill-tied-eugenics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a> by investors of Danco. <a href=\"http:\/\/gynuity.org\/about\/staff\/winikoff\/\">Winikoff<\/a>\u00a0has served on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prochoice.org\/about\/annual-reports\/2018-annual-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">board<\/a>\u00a0of the National Abortion Federation (NAF), which was at one time directly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20051003195946\/http:\/\/www.prochoice.org\/pubs_research\/publications\/downloads\/about_naf\/annual_report_2001.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a>\u00a0by Danco, as well as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/476032365-susan-thompson-buffett-foundation\/?query=national%20abortion%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffett<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/grants-and-investments\/grants-database\/national-abortion-federation-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Packard<\/a>\u00a0Foundations. Winikoff has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-secrecy-women-deserve-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">credited<\/a> the 9\/11 terrorist attacks with saving the abortion pill by drowning out the news of a woman\u2019s abortion pill death.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0Gynuity\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/expand-access-abortion-pill-tied-eugenics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conducted<\/a>\u00a0abortion pill trials, the company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gynuity.org\/donors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received<\/a>\u00a0financial support from\u00a0Ibis Reproductive Health, which was directly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200130190128\/https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\">funded<\/a>\u00a0by Danco <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200130190128\/https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for years<\/a>.\u00a0After Live Action News exposed this financial conflict of interest,\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200130190128\/http:\/\/www.ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funding connections<\/a>\u00a0were suddenly scrubbed\u00a0from the Ibis website. Ibis is also currently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\">funded<\/a>\u00a0by the\u00a0Packard Foundation and was previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20050310170528\/http:\/\/www.ibisreproductivehealth.org\/about\/funders.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a>\u00a0by the Population Council and Gynuity.<\/p>\n<p>Authors Erica Chong,\u00a0<i class=\"icon-gizmo-person faded\"><\/i>Tara Shochet, Elizabeth Raymond, Ingrida Platais, and Holly A. Anger are associated with Gynuity, and authors Kristina Tocce,\u00a0Christy M. Boraas,\u00a0Paula H. Bednarek, and Joey Banks are\u00a0associated with Planned Parenthood. Other authors were associated with the abortion facilities Maine Family Planning, the Emma Goldman Clinic, and Choices Women\u2019s Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>Author\u00a0Melissa S. Grant and Susan Haskell are both associated with Carafem, which appears to be an affiliate of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/funded-bill-gates-abortion-pill-worldwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DKT International<\/a>,\u00a0an international organization which distributes the abortion pill worldwide.\u00a0Carafem and DKT International have deep connections to some of the richest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/UnzbQzvGlSU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">billionaire<\/a>\u00a0abortion philanthropists in the world, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/bill-gates-funder-abortion-lockdown-restaurants-save\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gates<\/a>, Packard, and Hewlett Foundations. Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/funds-promotes-abortions-money-selling-porn\/\">here<\/a> about DKT, which\u00a0was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dktinternational.org\/about\/board-of-directors\/\">founded<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/funds-promotes-abortions-money-selling-porn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">porn tycoon<\/a>\u00a0Philip Harvey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UnzbQzvGlSU\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study #2: Medication Abortion With Pharmacist Dispensing of Mifepristone\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/greenjournal\/fulltext\/2021\/04000\/medication_abortion_with_pharmacist_dispensing_of.8.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>, which took place between 2018-2020, the two-drug abortion pill regimen (mifepristone and misoprostol) was dispensed &#8220;at a nearby brick-and-mortar pharmacy,&#8221;\u00a0ANSIRH wrote.\u00a0It was funded by a grant from Fidelity Charitable.<\/p>\n<p>Authors include Dr. Daniel Grossman, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/staff-members\/daniel-grossman\">director<\/a>\u00a0of ANSIRH who has unethically\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/grossman-er-hide-abortion-pill-complications-roe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested<\/a> that emergency room physicians should consider\u00a0<em>not documenting abortion pill complications<\/em> to hide information from law enforcement in a potentially post-<em>Roe<\/em> environment.<\/p>\n<p>While Grossman, an abortionist with multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-financial-conflicts-interest-politicians-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conflicts of interest<\/a>\u00a0regarding the abortion pill, disclosed that he &#8220;served as a consultant to Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/group-mississippi-abortion-fundamental-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Reproductive Rights,<\/a>&#8221; he failed to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20141013021502\/http:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/about-us\/staff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reveal<\/a> that he is Senior Director at <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20141013025357\/http:\/\/www.ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ibis Reproductive Health<\/a>, which was directly <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200130190128\/https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a> by Danco when Grossman began to publish his abortion pill trials.<\/p>\n<p>Additional authors disclosed that they are on the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-abortion-experts-payroll-manufacturers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">payroll<\/a> of either Danco or its generic GenBioPro, including Sally Rafie, &#8220;a consultant for GenBioPro,&#8221; as well as Karen R. Meckstroth and Mitchell D. Creinin, who are &#8220;consultants for Danco, Inc.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Authors with ANSIRH ties included\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/about\/staff\/finley-baba-mph\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">C. Finley Baba,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/m-antonia-biggs-phd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antonia Biggs,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/about\/staff\/tanvi-gurazada-ms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tanvi Gurazada<\/a>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/staff-members\/sarah-raifman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sarah Raifman<\/a>, who previously worked for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sarah-raifman-83403540\/\">Population Council<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/seraifman\/status\/1047612551557656576\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supported<\/a>\u00a0the idea of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/seraifman\/status\/1034940758153805824\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public colleges<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-california-college-campuses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passing out<\/a>\u00a0the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>Author\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/about\/staff\/erin-berry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erin Berry<\/a>\u00a0is listed in a separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S1049386721001420#!\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a> as with\u00a0Center for Reproductive Health Research and\u00a0Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands, while Shelly Kaller is a <a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/shelly-kaller-mph\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senior Research Associate<\/a> at Bixby.<\/p>\n<p>The study was <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/greenjournal\/fulltext\/2021\/04000\/medication_abortion_with_pharmacist_dispensing_of.8.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> by the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (JOG),\u00a0the official publication of the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists-pro-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pro-abortion<\/a>\u00a0American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) \u2014 popularly known as \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/greenjournal\/fulltext\/2021\/04000\/medication_abortion_with_pharmacist_dispensing_of.8.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green Journal.<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0ACOG was led into abortion advocacy by <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/exposing-acog-population-control-influenced-organization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">population control enthusiasts<\/a> and is, today, extremely in favor of abortion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study #3: Mail-order pharmacy dispensing of mifepristone for medication abortion after in-person clinical assessment\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ANSIRH <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2021-10\/Issue%20Brief_Summary%20of%20U.S.%20studies_MA%20w-o%20in-person%20clinician%20dispensing%20of%20mife_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described<\/a> this mail-order pharmacy study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/article\/S0010-7824(21)00384-X\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> in Journal Contraception as &#8220;an interim analysis&#8221; which &#8220;includes abortion outcome data for 224 participants recruited in 2020-2021 (5.5% loss to follow-up).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The work for this study was supported by the the Taylor Fund as well as the Society of Family Planning Research Fund (SFPRF). The Society of Family Planning (SFP) was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/article\/S0010-7824(15)30069-X\/pdf\">founded<\/a>\u00a0with a \u201cgenerous contribution\u201d from the Packard Foundation and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/990s.foundationcenter.org\/990pf_pdf_archive\/476\/476032365\/476032365_201612_990PF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receives<\/a>\u00a0millions from the Buffett Foundation.\u00a0Authors include the previously mentioned Daniel Grossman, Sarah Raifman, and M. Antonia Biggs as well as\u00a0Eleanor B. Schwarz a <a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.ucsf.edu\/chairs-corner\/announcing-appointment-eleanor-bimla-schwarz-md-ms-chief-division-general-internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former member<\/a> of the FDA&#8217;s Advisory Committee on Reproductive Health Drugs, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eleanor-bimla-schwarz-2295a925\/\">former deputy editor<\/a> at Journal Contraception.\u00a0Study author Curtiss Hannum, a <a href=\"https:\/\/abortiondocs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Philadelphia-Womens-Center-Testimony-of-Curtiss-Hannum-4-13-2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nurse practitioner<\/a> at a Philadelphia abortion facility, once\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abortiondocs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Philadelphia-Womens-Center-Testimony-of-Curtiss-Hannum-4-13-2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admitted<\/a>\u00a0the state&#8217;s &#8220;previous complaint system&#8230; did not facilitate or ensure the investigation of unsafe or illegal practices&#8221; in the Kermit Gosnell case.<\/p>\n<p>Authors\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.societyfp.org\/About-SFP\/SFP-awardees\/Dr-Marji-Gold.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marji Gold<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Stephanie Ho\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pharmacists-dispense-abortion-pills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oversaw<\/a> a site location in Grossman\u2019s mail order pharmacy trial.
