Phil Murphy, who adopted recommendations issued in October by the State Board of Medical Examiners, which is appointed by Murphy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a time when our country is on the verge of severely limiting access to reproductive health care, New Jersey is prioritizing the expansion of these critical services,\u201d Murphy said in a statement. \u201cRemoving outdated barriers to care ensures that all New Jerseyans have equitable access to reproductive health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion Democrats, where New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney lost to a pro-lifer running on a shoestring campaign budget of a few thousand dollars and saw the Democrats\u2019 11-vote majority shrink to five\u00a0in the Assembly, took a step back, at least for now, from passing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.njleg.state.nj.us\/2020\/Bills\/S3500\/3030_I1.HTM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reproductive Freedom Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dustin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northjersey.com\/staff\/2647909001\/dustin-racioppi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Racioppi<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northjersey.com\/story\/news\/new-jersey\/2021\/11\/23\/n%20abortion-rights\/8669783002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>North Jersey News<\/em><\/a><em>,\u00a0<\/em>this radical pro-abortion initiative\u00a0<em>\u201c<\/em>would go beyond\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>\u00a0by\u00a0requiring health insurers\u00a0to cover abortions and birth control\u00a0at no cost out of pocket; easing regulations on late-term\u00a0abortions,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/reproductivehealth\/data_stats\/abortion.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which are rare<\/a>; and allowing professionals besides doctors, such as advanced practice nurses and midwives, to perform the procedure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/first-trimester-abortion-works-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>How a first trimester abortion works: The Suction Aspiration D&amp;C<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Actually it goes even further than that. Abortions after the 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0week would no longer be required to be performed in licensed hospitals and the Conscience Clause law for health care workers would be eliminated.)<\/p>\n<p>When the State Board of Medical Examiners authorized 15,000 nurses, physician assistants and midwives \u2013non-physicians\u2013to perform first trimester abortions,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>it paved the way to accomplish administratively what the Democrat-dominated legislature (for now) wouldn\u2019t do. But this is not enough for the abortion lobby in New Jersey, who are nervous about a decline in the number of physicians who will do abortions.<\/p>\n<p>That is why going beyond\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0is precisely the point, according to Alejandra Sorto, campaign strategist for the ACLU of New Jersey, which is part of a pro-abortion coalition called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thrive-nj.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thrive New Jersey<\/a>.
