Dr. Daniel Grossman, an abortionist<\/a>\u00a0leading the charge to expand access to the abortion pill, recently suggested that emergency doctors should avoid documenting abortion pill complications to hide information from law enforcement in a potentially post-Roe environment.<\/p>\n

The stunning suggestion was published<\/a> by Salon in an article by noted pro-abortion writer Amanda Marcotte, titled, “When SCOTUS guts Roe: The covert plan to provide abortion pills on demand \u2013 and avoid prosecution.”<\/p>\n

“Historians of the pre-Roe era warn that the dangers of being caught and prosecuted are likely to be much more significant in the post-Roe era. Antis are much more militant these days, and phones\/internet make it easier for law enforcement to surveil people,” Marcotte wrote in a Twitter thread<\/a> about her article.<\/p>\n

Should the Supreme Court gut Roe<\/em> and turn the decision to regulate and\/or ban abortion back to the states, Marcotte claims that “some activists are betting on the [abortion] pills as a way for abortion to not just be physically safe, but safe from law enforcement.”<\/p>\n

“Past images of the coathanger or the back alley abortionist<\/a> could very well be replaced in the near future with pictures of a brown paper package purchased discreetly online<\/a> \u2014 either from overseas pharmacies<\/a> or, possibly, states where abortion will still be legal<\/a>.\u00a0This goes a long way to explain\u00a0the right’s interest in creating an army of snitches who will turn in their neighbors and friends for a $10,000 reward,” Marcotte also wrote.<\/p>\n

Doctoring medical records to thwart law enforcement<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grossman, who recently advocated<\/a>\u00a0for the idea of shipping women (or teens) abortion pills in advance<\/em> of a verified pregnancy, suggested to Marcotte that it would be helpful to instruct emergency room doctors what to (or not to) document in a medical record to “protect patients” from potential prosecution in states that might ban abortion or restrict access to the abortion pill.<\/p>\n

“Doctors have a role to play in this. On Twitter, Dr. Grossman floated the idea of doctors providing advance provision of pills, in response to sex advice columnist Dan Savage suggesting stockpiling,” Marcotte wrote.<\/p>\n

“Advance provision of abortion pills before you need them makes a lot of sense,” he wrote.\u00a0“Mifepristone has a shelf life of about 5 years, and misoprostol has a shelf life of about 2 years,”\u00a0Salon wrote, quoting Grossman’s\u00a0tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In one tweet (pictured above), Grossman compares having the abortion pill on hand to end the life of a preborn child to “having Tylenol in the cabinet for a headache, cramps, or painful injury.”<\/p>\n

Marcotte wrote, “Dr. Grossman also suggested that doctors themselves need to be educated on how to better protect patients.\u00a0Once abortion is banned, [Grossman] notes, ‘some of this is going to fall on emergency department clinicians,’ because patients who show up with\u00a0rare complications \u2014 or, in some cases, are just worried \u2014 after taking abortion pills at home,” the Salon article states.<\/p>\n

Marcotte quotes Grossman in Salon as saying, “We need to get better about really figuring out what questions we need to ask and what we need to document in the medical record.” Grossman worries that “the medical record could be used against the patient to potentially prosecute them.”<\/p>\n

In other words, what is being advocated here is that emergency personnel should falsify the medical records of women experiencing abortion pill complications<\/em> to thwart law enforcement investigations.<\/p>\n

Who is Dr. Daniel Grossman?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Daniel Grossman,\u00a0a former\u00a0NARAL board member<\/a>\u00a0and current National Abortion Federation (NAF) board member, is a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) which openly trains<\/a> abortionists. UCSF is heavily\u00a0funded<\/a> by the Buffett Foundation.<\/p>\n

Grossman currently\u00a0serves<\/a> on California Governor<\/a> Gavin Newsom’s Future of Abortion Council.<\/a>\u00a0He is also a\u00a0senior adviser<\/a>\u00a0at Ibis Reproductive Health which \u2014\u00a0as recently as 2020 \u2014\u00a0was\u00a0directly<\/em>\u00a0funded<\/a>\u00a0by the abortion pill\u2019s manufacturer,\u00a0Danco Laboratories<\/a>\u00a0and is\u00a0currently funded<\/a>\u00a0by the Packard Foundation, a large investor in Danco.<\/p>\n

In addition, Grossman sits on the\u00a0editorial board<\/a>\u00a0of the Journal Contraception<\/em>, which publishes many of his abortion pill studies. Contraception<\/em> happens to be the official journal of the Society of Family Planning (SFP),\u00a0founded<\/a>\u00a0with a \u201cgenerous contribution\u201d from the Packard Foundation and\u00a0receiving<\/a>\u00a0millions from the Buffett Foundation, both large investors in Danco.<\/p>\n

Grossman’s studies are often cited by the media, failing to note his potential\u00a0conflicts of interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Dr. Daniel Grossman’s suggestion seems highly unethical, it is unlikely that his suggestion will be criticized by mainstream media outlets or medical professionals committed to abortion on demand at any cost.<\/p>\n
