(Pregnancy Help News<\/a>) It was unusual.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of times they just don\u2019t roll down the window,\u201d Susan admitted. \u201cThey just look away from us.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Susan would know. She\u2019s volunteered with\u00a040 Days for Life\u00a0<\/a>– an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through peaceful vigil in front of abortion businesses – for more than 10 years.<\/p>\n

Between September 22 and October 31 of this year, Susan stood, waited, and prayed on the public sidewalk in front of a Sacramento Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n

And on\u00a0this particular day<\/a>, the car leaving the parking lot didn\u2019t roll past Susan. The driver didn\u2019t look away.<\/p>\n

Seeing Susan, the driver stopped and rolled down the window.<\/p>\n

Susan relayed the events of that day in an interview with\u00a0Pregnancy Help News<\/em>\u00a0(PHN).<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you know anybody who\u2019s pregnant and needs help,\u201d Susan offered, holding out a pamphlet toward the driver.<\/p>\n

Distraught, the driver\u2019s daughter spoke from the passenger\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m the one who was pregnant and I\u2019m still pregnant,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to abort this baby and it didn\u2019t die,\u201d the 29-year-old continued. \u201cI took the two pills to abort this baby and then when I went in today they said the baby\u2019s still alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then came the question from the driver.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do you think that baby is still alive?\u201d the pregnant woman\u2019s mom asked Susan.<\/p>\n

Susan spoke to the mother and daughter about Jesus and His desire for babies to live. The mother agreed with Susan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want her to have the abortion,\u201d she told Susan.<\/p>\n

As the conversation continued, the young pregnant woman began to calm.<\/p>\n

Susan encouraged the mother and daughter to go to a local pregnancy medical center for an ultrasound and pregnancy support. She gave the young woman her phone number and offered additional assistance should she need it after leaving the center.<\/p>\n

This young woman\u2019s story is not isolated.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlanned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortions in the U.S., admits failure rates for these dangerous medications,\u201d noted Christa Brown, director of Medical Impact for Heartbeat International.<\/p>\n

But chemical abortion failures don\u2019t always end in pregnancies surviving. Instead, failures can\u00a0result<\/a>\u00a0in women needing emergency care or a second abortion.<\/p>\n

\u201cTypically, when the abortion pills fail the abortionist provides more doses of medication or a surgical abortion,\u201d Brown added. \u201cAbortion providers continue to supply second or third abortion attempts with medication and surgery in order to end these pregnancies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor some women, especially those who chose chemical abortion in order to avoid a surgical procedure or for those who do not want to increase their exposure to these chemicals, repeated abortion attempts can be distressing,\u201d Brown continued.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood\u00a0acknowledges<\/a>\u00a0chemical abortions fail in up to 13% of chemical abortion attempts.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsidering the thousands of chemical abortions being performed every single month,\u201d Brown noted, \u201cthis constitutes a lot of babies who survive the initial abortion attempt. Yet abortion providers continue to offer these dangerous chemicals later and later in pregnancy without regard to the wellbeing of their patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Susan spoke to the pregnant passenger, the daughter acknowledged that Planned Parenthood\u2019s response to the failed abortion was to send her away.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re sending me home\u2026they couldn\u2019t help me anymore,\u201d she told Susan.<\/p>\n

For this still-pregnant woman, though, the pro-life community stood ready and willing to provide the support that Planned Parenthood would not.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can provide diapers and wipes and clothing and any supplies that the mother and baby may need,\u201d Susan noted. \u201cWe also help with cars, housing furniture, and motel stays\u2026we stay with the moms as long as they feel they need us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Susan is adamant, \u201cWe do take care of the moms and babies after they\u2019re saved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Susan continues to offer support for life, even though it has not always been safe for her to do so.<\/p>\n

Through her 10 years of volunteering, she\u2019s received \u201clots of strange emails,\u201d including threats to her safety. Because of these threats, she has asked that PHN only identify her by her first name.<\/p>\n

Despite the danger, she continues to volunteer, though, for women just like the passenger in the car. And for pregnancies just like this one that survived.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have said, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re a protester,\u2019\u201d Susan relayed with laughter.<\/p>\n

Instead, Susan painted a different picture, saying, \u201cI always tell them I\u2019m not a protester, I\u2019m a beggar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here with my sign that says, \u2018Please Choose Life\u2019 and I\u2019m begging for you to give this one more listen\u2026give one more chance to this baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

And for this pregnant woman, a failed abortion attempt and a faithful volunteer provided just that. One more chance for this mom to choose life for her baby.<\/p>\n
