{"id":258300,"date":"2021-12-04T08:56:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-04T14:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=258300"},"modified":"2021-12-03T17:48:50","modified_gmt":"2021-12-03T23:48:50","slug":"diverse-pro-life-rallied-supreme-court-everyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/diverse-pro-life-rallied-supreme-court-everyone\/","title":{"rendered":"A diverse pro-life movement rallied at Supreme Court: &#8216;Anyone can be pro-life, and everyone should be&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On December 1, 2021, The Supreme Court <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pivotal-abortion-case-supreme-court-justices-questions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">heard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> oral arguments in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dobbs v Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which concerns Mississippi\u2019s ban on abortions past the 15th week of gestation. This case explicitly challenges previous precedents established by the Court in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which stipulated that abortions must be legal up to the arbitrary, vaguely defined, and ever-moving point of so-called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/three-reasons-viability-rule-abortion-unsound\/\">viability<\/a>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A multiplicity of groups, organizations, and individuals gathered in front of the Supreme Court that morning to demonstrate support for the Mississippi law and for life in general, outnumbering the pro-abortion contingent by a large margin. The diversity of the pro-life side was striking \u2014 there were groups from conservative to anti-capitalist, of every (or no) religious tradition, of all professional and educational backgrounds, who had traveled from every region of the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some came from as far away as the West Coast. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolifesf.com\/about\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kristin Turner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Executive Director of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolifesf.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pro-Life San Francisco<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a secular, non-partisan, youth-led organization, was one of them. Asked for her perspective on the rally and the prospects for a pro-life future, she had this to say: \u201cElectricity was flying at the Supreme Court. The pro-life movement is continuing to build a diverse coalition who believe in rights for unborn people. I am hopeful that the Supreme Court will make the right decision and put the power back in the hands of the people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7kAzxKxoCHY\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rehumanizeintl.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rehumanize International<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an organization dedicated to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rehumanizeintl.org\/the-consistent-life-ethic\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">consistent life ethics<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0 Executive Director <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rehumanizeintl.org\/team\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Herb Geraghty<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> said he was proud to stand outside the Supreme Court with the pro-life movement. \u201cBringing our diverse coalition of people from all races, ages, religious backgrounds, and gender identities shows the pro-abortion side that the pro-life community is not the caricature of the \u2018old conservative Christian cisgender white man who wants to oppress women.\u2019 This is a human rights movement, and we will not be silenced.\u201d He concluded: \u201cAnyone can be pro-life, and everyone should be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Post-abortive women were a sizable, powerful presence among both the rally participants and speakers on Wednesday. One woman among the army of those in bright red shirts promoting the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.priestsforlife.org\/moraloutcry\/index.aspx?address=avisfletcher@embarqmail.com&amp;ap=608185&amp;ad=841633&amp;linkid=3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moral Outcry Petition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who prefers to remain anonymous, related her personal story of rape followed by a botched abortion, which left her sterile. \u201cI can\u2019t ever have children now. I\u2019m alone in the world,&#8221; she told Live Action News. &#8220;That\u2019s why I\u2019m here, so other women don\u2019t have to go through the same heartache.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Author and speaker Serena Dyksen, a post-abortive pro-life advocate and founder of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shefoundhisgrace.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She Found His Grace Abortion Recovery Ministry<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was also present on the ground. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a post-abortive woman who was hurt by abortion at age 13 after rape, this day is an answer to prayer, and left me optimistic for future women and babies,\u201d she said. \u201cI was so proud to see women who had gone through She Found His Grace abortion recovery, who had felt intimidated at the thought of sharing their abortion regret, boldly share how overturning <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> makes them feel empowered, and how it would give their children dignity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/capital-march-abortion-stood-life-supreme-court\/\">This time in our nation\u2019s capital, I didn\u2019t march for abortion. I stood for life at the Supreme Court.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eddie Perez, President, CEO, and Founder of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vansforlife.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vans for Life<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is in the business of providing resources to mothers to prevent them from becoming post-abortive. His organization operates a fleet of mobile pregnancy center vans, which park in front of abortion facilities and offer free ultrasounds and counseling on alternatives to abortion. They also provide resources for up to three years after the child is born. \u201cWe not only talk to women about how they are capable of being mothers \u2014 because they already are mothers as soon as they become pregnant \u2014 but how we can help support them in any crisis they may have, and give them confidence,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen women go into our pregnancy centers, about 90% end up choosing life.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perez came to the rally, not just to express support for Mississippi\u2019s law, but to raise awareness and build support for his organization. \u201cWe&#8217;re very hopeful for any decision that could help save babies, but it&#8217;s not just about that. It&#8217;s about how we help the women who are having these babies who have no resources or anybody to help support them and give them hope,\u201d he said, \u201cbecause they just need to know that somebody is in their corner.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drfrancisforlife.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Christina Francis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Chair of the Board of the American Association of Pro-Life OB-GYNs (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aaplog.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AAPLOG<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), is a doctor who has done her life\u2019s work supporting women. She was one of a large contingent of medical professionals in white coats who made a powerful visible statement in front of the Court, though pro-abortion media attempted to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/01\/ap-calls-pro-life-doctors-at-supreme-court-anti-abortion-protesters-wearing-doctors-uniforms\/?fbclid=IwAR1TO9eDhxRdcyGtAwCGs4O9hHGlcuKLdKlK7RIhJFrmD1ut9cVfTJwC_-s\">downplay their presence<\/a> and medical expertise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI&#8217;m just overwhelmed by today,\u201d she told Live Action News. \u201cWe had almost 80 physicians and other medical professionals here with us. And we were all here together to make a visual statement that abortion is not health care, and that, as medical professionals, we acknowledge that the science shows that preborn children are living human beings from the moment of fertilization, and that abortion is harmful for women. I talked with several other people from within the pro-life movement here today who said how encouraging it was to see 80 white coats in front of the Supreme Court.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asked about the future prospects of the movement, Dr. Francis said: \u201cI think I feel a tide of change coming in the country when it comes to the abortion issue. And this made me hopeful for that same tide of change to go through the medical profession, so that we can return to healing, rather than killing.
