That is, that the public is firmly and decidedly in their corner.<\/p>\n<p>To summarize from a\u00a0Washington Post-ABC News\u00a0poll released Tuesday, we\u2019re told the public supports\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>; does not want \u201climitations\u201d on abortion; and (stop me if you\u2019ve heard this before) believes \u201cwhether to have an abortion should be left to the woman and her doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But is that all there is? A Marquette University Law School poll offers a fascinating result that I\u2019ve not seen highlighted anywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>On December 1, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in\u00a0<em>Dobbs vs. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>. At issue is Mississippi\u2019s \u201cGestational Age Act\u201d which prohibits abortion after the 15th week with narrow exceptions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/15-week-old-human-being-womb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>What does a 15-week-old human being in the womb look like?<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What does the public think about this? According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/POLITICS\/STORY\/2021-11-17\/AMERICANS-SUPPORT-THE-RIGHT-TO-ABORTION\">Los Angeles Times\u2019<\/a>\u00a0David Savage, a poll conducted by the Marquette University Law School asked respondents \u201cif they would favor or oppose a ruling to \u2018uphold a state law that (except in cases of medical emergencies or fetal abnormalities) bans abortions after the 15th week of a pregnancy,\u2019 37% said they favored upholding it, while 32% said they would oppose such a ruling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Savage added, \u201cIt is a result that pollsters have long observed if respondents are asked several questions about their views on abortion.\u201d \u00a0The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/poll\">Marquette University Law School poll<\/a>\u00a0put it this way: \u201cThis is in line with much national polling on abortion over the years, which consistently finds support for maintaining\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0and a right to an abortion but accepts including on the timing of abortions, as in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That is precisely why, year after year, the Movement is able to pass legislation \u201crestricting\u201d abortion. There are a host of measures already passed and other categories of protective legislation that will pass when the public is fully informed about the sweep of\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a step back. The Marquette University Law School poll also found more than twice as many opposed to \u201cstriking down\u201d the 1973 decision [47%] then ending it [21%].<\/p>\n<p>But note this. In a nationwide survey of 1,004 adults in the period November 1-10, the poll also found<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><strong>Despite the intensity of political arguments over\u00a0Roe\u00a0for nearly 50 years, 32% say they haven\u2019t heard anything or haven\u2019t heard enough about this issue to have an opinion.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Keeping the public in the dark about how radical\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>\u00a0is a key weapon in the pro-abortionist\u2019s arsenal. To this day, polls on abortion not infrequently frame\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0as \u201clegalizing abortion in the first trimester.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the Justices about to hear the Mississippi abortion law, we have an unprecedented opportunity to clear away long-standing ignorance about\u00a0<em>Roe v.
