Though the U.S. government is prohibited by the Helms Amendment from directly funding abortions overseas, a loophole allows the funding of organizations such as the UNFPA.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/deputy-secretary-shermans-meeting-with-unfpa-executive-director-kanem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Department<\/a>, Deputy Secretary Wendy R. Sherman met with UNFPA Supplies Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem on November 1, 2021, to discuss &#8220;empowering women and girls, including by promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights, advances human rights, gender equality, and global health.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Along with distributing the abortion drugs misoprostol and mifepristone, both separately and together, the UNFPA also distributes manual vacuum aspirator (MVA) kits \u2014 a portable abortion device. MVAs use suction to dismember and discard young preborn children in the first trimester. Abortion doctors have demonstrated how this type of abortion is carried out using <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/ucsf-trains-abortionists-fruit-seriousness-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">papaya<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/using-watermelon-abortion-activists-misrepresent-1st-trimester-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">watermelon<\/a>, as shown in the video below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-harris-gender-equity-equality-promotes-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden-Harris \u2018gender equity and equality\u2019 strategy heavily promotes abortion<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tpWOzzx2Pb0\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Misoprostol and mifepristone are used together as the abortion pill regimen to induce dangerous chemical abortions. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/c-fam.org\/friday_fax\/u-s-makes-first-contribution-to-un-distributor-of-abortion-supplies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">C-Fam<\/a>, though misoprostol can be used on its own to treat and prevent postpartum bleeding, mifepristone would have no other purpose for so-called &#8220;maternal health&#8221; other than to induce abortions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) added mifepristone to its core &#8216;essential medicines&#8217; list,&#8221; said C-Fam. &#8220;This list is held up as a global standard of which drugs governments should ensure are available in every country. Following their lead, UNPFA then &#8216;engages with national governments to ensure [sexual and reproductive health and family planning] commodities are included in national essential medicines lists&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sending women home alone with pills meant to induce an abortion is reportedly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-abortion-pill-four-times-dangerous-surgical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four times more dangerous<\/a> for women than undergoing a first-trimester suction abortion. Risks include hemorrhage, incomplete abortion requiring a second abortion, and death. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uofmhealth.org\/health-library\/tw1078\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Risks<\/a> of a first-trimester suction abortion include uterine perforation, incomplete abortion, infection, and blood clots.<\/p>\n<p>According to C-Fam, UNFPA Supplies also &#8220;operates in line with the Minimum Initial Service Package or MISP,&#8221; during crisis situations, which includes &#8220;safe abortion care.&#8221; It also works with The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and MSI Reproductive Health \u2014 the UK&#8217;s largest abortion business.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some IPPF Member Associations have reported that they are 100% reliant on the millions of dollars worth of contraception they receive from UNFPA Supplies, including M.A.s [member associations] in Nepal, Cameroon, Cote d&#8217;Ivoire, Mozambique, Yemen, and South Sudan,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ippf.org\/news\/aid-cuts-could-lead-more-two-million-unintended-pregnancies-end-year-continued-blow-women-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> IPPF. &#8220;For others, donations from UNFPA form a significant part of their budgets, such as M.A.s in Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Malawi, Nigeria, and Sudan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 1973 Helms Amendment to the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 <a href=\"https:\/\/c-fam.org\/definitions\/what-is-the-real-purpose-of-the-helms-amendment-to-the-foreign-assistance-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prohibits<\/a> the U.S. from directly funding international abortions, but the Biden administration\u2019s contribution to UNFPA Supplies allows the US to indirectly fund abortions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a>\u00a0for more pro-life news and commentary!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, the Biden administration announced an inaugural $5 million contribution to UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) Supplies, which uses donations to purchase and distribute contraception and maternal health supplies \u2014 including abortion-inducing drugs and devices.
