The data comes from the most recent statistics <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/us-abortion-rate-lowest-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> by Planned Parenthood\u2019s former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special affiliate<\/a>,&#8221; the Guttmacher Institute for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/sites\/default\/files\/factsheet\/fb_induced_abortion.pdf\">2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That year, 862,320 abortions were committed nationwide, versus more than 3.8 million live births <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/vsrr\/report004.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recorded<\/a> that same year. This means that while 10.5K children were born each day, nearly 2,400 were legally, violently <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortionist-oath-first-trimester-babies-alive-intact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suctioned from<\/a>\u00a0their mother\u2019s wombs, starved of nutrients with pills, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/de-abortion-destructive-violent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dismembered<\/a>, or poisoned by lethal injection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7MrC6QpLJjI\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early abortions: Nearly 2,100 daily<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>There is\u00a0no federal requirement\u00a0to report abortions, and no requirement to report abortions by gestation<\/em>. Late-term\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/training-module-later-abortion-rarely-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortions<\/a>\u00a0are, in fact, rarely done for so-called medical reasons because deliberately killing a preborn child is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-never-medically-health-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not medically necessary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Using Guttmacher Institute\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/us-abortion-rate-lowest-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>\u00a0data, we estimate that 100,897 babies are aborted annually at\u00a0<em>13 weeks gestation<\/em>\u00a0(11 weeks post-fertilization) and later. This totals to over 276 babies aborted <em>every single day<\/em>\u00a0who are in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S-lQOooYAs8\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition,\u00a0recently reviewed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)\u00a0data from Guttmacher\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/article\/2021\/08\/mississippi-attacking-roe-v-wade-head-consequences-could-be-severe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimates<\/a>\u00a0that between 6.3% and 7.4% of abortions take place annually <em>at or after 15 weeks<\/em>, with the vast majority being the dismemberment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">D&amp;E procedure<\/a>. Later abortions are estimated somewhere between\u00a054,326 and 63,811 annually, bringing the daily death toll for babies killed <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/restricting-abortion-15-weeks-save-tens-thousands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at or after 15 weeks<\/a>\u00a0to between 149 and 175.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the CDC nor the Guttmacher Institute break down abortions past 21 weeks, but they both <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cdc-report-later-abortions-often-public-believe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acknowledge<\/a> that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortionists-media-late-term-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">late-term abortions<\/a>\u00a0committed at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/11000-babies-potentially-survive-aborted-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">21 weeks or later<\/a>\u00a0represent 1-1.3% of all reported abortions. Using Guttmacher&#8217;s 1.3% figure, we estimate that 11,210\u00a0babies are aborted at <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/state-reports-babies-aborted-days-due-date\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">21 weeks gestation or greater<\/a> in one year, a total of nearly 31 babies every single day \u2014 more than the average Kindergarten classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these babies <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/restricting-abortion-15-weeks-save-tens-thousands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could be protected<\/a> if the Supreme Court upholds Mississippi&#8217;s law in the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/scotus-justices-problems-viability-standard-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dobbs v. Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization<\/a><\/em> case, to be heard before the Court in December.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Black babies: Approximately 600 to 700 killed <em>daily<\/em> by abortion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guttmacher data shows that \u201cWhite patients accounted for 39% of abortion procedures in 2014, black patients for 28%, Hispanic patients for 25%, and patients of other races and ethnicities for 9%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The average <em>daily<\/em> number of abortions by race, using Guttmacher&#8217;s 2014 statistics, reveal that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>White women obtained over 921 abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Black women obtained nearly 662 abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic women obtained 591 abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Guttmacher publishes more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/understanding-abortion-reporting-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comprehensive<\/a>\u00a0abortion numbers than the CDC, which in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cdc-abortions-decline-black-women-extremely-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cdc-report-57-percent-drop-abortions-1990\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recorded<\/a> an estimated 657 white women,\u00a0570 Black women,\u00a0and 340 Hispanic women obtained abortions every day.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/washpo-dishonestly-downplay-abortion-eugenics-ties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tethered to eugenics<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 it is a form of reproductive\u00a0<em>injustice<\/em>\u00a0used to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/reproductive-injustice-eliminating-minorities-poor-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">target<\/a>\u00a0communities of color.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abortion outnumbers adoptions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sad reality is that while there are 2,363 babies killed from legal abortion every day, there were slightly over 302 daily adoptions recorded in 2014, the latest data published by\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/adoptioncouncil.org\/research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Council for Adoption<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the National Council for Adoption\u00a0reported that the total number of all adoptions taking place in the U.S. fell from a count of 133,737 in 2007 to 110,373 (41,023 related adoptions and 69,350 unrelated adoptions) in 2014. In 2017, the Guttmacher Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/sites\/default\/files\/report_pdf\/abortion-incidence-service-availability-us-2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0that medication abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-medication-abortion-nearly-40-percent-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accounted<\/a> for nearly 40% of all reported abortions in 2017, a total of\u00a0339,640 <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-21-years-secrecy-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chemical abortions<\/a> that year. However, later estimates indicate the abortion pill could be responsible for 50% of total abortions today, bringing estimated totals to somewhere near 431,160 annually (1,181 daily).<\/p>\n<p>While abortion advocates <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-abortion-experts-payroll-manufacturers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claim<\/a>\u00a0the abortion pill \u2014 which can be accessed by minors \u2014 is safe, a recently released\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gynuity.org\/resources\/expansion-of-a-direct-to-patient-telemedicine-abortion-service-in-the-united-states-and-experience-during-the-covid-19-pandemic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Telabortion study<\/a>, which implemented more stringent safety requirements than would be seen in normal use, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/telabortion-abortion-pill-study-increased-complications-er\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed<\/a> that\u00a0<em>six percent<\/em>\u00a0of \u201cknown outcomes\u201d from the abortion pill were severe enough to result in emergency room or urgent care visits, with additional women experiencing serious adverse events.<\/p>\n<p>If we extrapolate that number out nationally using the previously mentioned figures, this could result in between <strong>20,380<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>25,870<\/strong> women\u00a0<em>per year<\/em>\u00a0seeking care at ERs or urgent care facilities for abortion pill complications \u2014\u00a0a daily range of 56 to 71 women.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0the pro-life\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/newsroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Susan B Anthony List<\/a>, &#8220;The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is on the cusp of intervening in\u00a0<em>Chellius v. Becerra,<\/em>\u00a0a case out of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that could serve as the catalyst for the pro-abortion Biden administration to weaken or remove these safeguards altogether.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To counter this, SBA List reports that in 2021, &#8220;seven states enacted laws to stop dangerous chemical abortions and at least eight (8) additional states, and likely more, are poised to act in the next legislative session.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the federal level, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) have introduced the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/save-moms-babies-fda-safeguards-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAVE Moms &amp; Babies Act<\/a><strong>, <\/strong>which SBA List says would install federal safeguards to restrict chemical abortion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lRDnVSMr5j0\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/our-work\/apr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most recent statistics<\/a>,\u00a0<strong>more than 2,500 lives have been saved <\/strong>through the <a href=\"http:\/\/reverseabortionpill.com\">abortion pill reversal protocol<\/a>. And this year alone, states have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-life-laws-enacted-2021-triple-digits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enacted<\/a>\u00a0over 100 abortion restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action is dedicated to bringing the daily toll of abortion deaths down to zero.
