Saskatchewan is now officially and universally\u00a0paying for the abortion pill<\/a> and paying the abortionists who distribute the deadly abortion pill regimen. Because of this, it is expected that the use of the abortion pill will expand in the province, mostly among underprivileged women.<\/p>\n

According to Global News<\/a>, abortionists who have been committing surgical abortions were being directly paid by the province to do so. However, abortionists who prescribed the abortion pill, called Mifegymiso in Canada, had to bill it as counseling or consultation. This allegedly caused abortionists to avoid dispensing the abortion pill because it required too much time.<\/p>\n

“Now that it can be billed properly, and physicians can be compensated for the amount of time that it takes, we’re hoping it will increase the number of physicians all over the province who are willing to offer that service to patients who need it,” said Dr. Carla Holinatry.<\/p>\n

She told Global News that the goal is to make it easier for women living in rural areas who would otherwise have to travel for surgical abortions to undergo abortions.<\/p>\n

“That means if you have money in your bank account, sure you have access to abortion. But if you don’t, then good luck,” said\u00a0Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Chabot, director of health promotion at Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, signaling that the real target of abortion pill expansion is underprivileged women and their babies.<\/p>\n

The abortion pill will save the province about $450 per abortion compared to surgical abortion, cutting costs of abortion for Saskatchewan by about $42,000 a year, according to Global News. But it will also put women at an increased risk of abortion complications. The abortion pill has been found to be four times more dangerous<\/a> for women than first-trimester surgical abortion. Prescribing the abortion pill to women who have not undergone an exam puts them at risk of hemorrhaging and death if they are experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. If they are further along in the pregnancy than the approved nine weeks in Canada for taking the abortion pill, there is also an increased risk of incomplete abortion which can lead to infection and death as well as the need for a surgical abortion to remove the deceased baby.<\/p>\n

When the government funds abortion, the number of abortions increases<\/a>. A 2017 survey<\/a> published by the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute found that women who have abortions at the expense of taxpayers tend to have more abortions.<\/p>\n
