The pro-life movement celebrated a major milestone on September 1 when the Texas Heartbeat Act \u2014\u00a0which\u00a0restricts abortion<\/a> after a preborn child’s heartbeat is detected \u2014\u00a0went into effect, helping to put an end to the killing of preborn children in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n

On the heels of the enactment of that legislation, members of the Texas legislature who voted for the new abortion law became the target of a credible threat. Lawmakers were notified on Tuesday evening by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) about a threat reportedly posted online on Reddit in which a user threatened to \u201cend every one of you,\u201d and said the lawmakers \u201care not people to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Texas DPS specified that the threat only applies to the lawmakers who voted in favor of the heartbeat bill. The Texas Tribune reported<\/a> that the Texas DPS said in a statement that it \u201ctakes all matters of personal security and public safety very seriously and we do not discuss details of ongoing threats and investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Twitter, Texas Rep. Dustin Burrows commented on the threat, saying he remains \u201cundeterred\u201d in standing up for life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was served with 13 lawsuits this a.m. over the Heartbeat Bill and the FBI is investigating credible death threats,\u201d Burrows tweeted<\/a>. \u201cThe extent to which human beings will go to defend the killing of other human beings is astounding. I remain undeterred in standing up for every heartbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to the recent news articles on the credible threats targeting pro-life Texas legislators, some abortion advocates have taken to social media to post hateful remarks. In one post on The Hill\u2019s Facebook page<\/a>, a commenter wrote, \u201cThoughts and prayers? What comes round goes round.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other comments included, \u201cI don\u2019t care, do you?\u201d \u201cOh well,\u201d \u201cExcellent,\u201d and \u201cTurnabout is fair play.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is not the first time pro-lifers have been threatened over the Texas Heartbeat Act. Just 10 days after the legislation went into effect, Texas Right to Life in Houston received a bomb threat<\/a> that caused the pro-life organization to evacuate its headquarters.<\/p>\n

This is one of numerous instances of violence, harassment, and assault targeting pro-lifers. However, as Live Action News has repeatedly reported<\/a>, the abortion industry does not condemn these attacks, and even celebrates them. Previous examples of violence include an abortion facility staffer attempting<\/a> to pour manure on pro-lifers, a Molotov cocktail thrown<\/a> at an elderly pro-lifer in Montana in 2011, and a pro-lifer punched in the face as he prayed<\/a> the rosary outside of an abortion facility. These are only a few out of countless threats and assaults.<\/p>\n

Despite these attacks, pro-lifers remain steadfast in defending the nation\u2019s preborn children. Other states are already following in Texas\u2019s footsteps, including Florida, where a similar heartbeat bill was recently filed.<\/p>\n
