A Thai woman was arrested in Tokyo on Monday and charged with abandoning the body of her newborn after a repairman found a baby’s body stuck in a condominium toilet. The child’s remains caused a clog that prevented the building’s toilets from working properly for days, according to the Latin Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Penpanassak Supaporn, 28, told investigators that she gave birth on Friday to a baby boy on the toilet but she was “upset after seeing blood and the body of the dead baby and flushed the toilet,” according to Kyodo News<\/a>. Supaporn did not report the birth and death and police were only alerted to the body when residents of the building complained about the toilets not functioning. That’s when the repairman discovered the body.<\/p>\n

Police said an autopsy will be performed to determine if the baby was stillborn or if he was born alive before dying.<\/p>\n

The baby boy was about 27 centimeters long (10.6 inches) and weighed 635 grams. He was estimated to have been about 25 weeks at the time of his birth, which means he would have been capable of surviving outside of the womb. Babies born as young as 21 weeks<\/a> are sometimes able to survive when given proper medical care.<\/p>\n

While a baby being flushed down a toilet is inhumane and heartbreaking to the average, compassionate human, it is actually a common practice in the United States to flush aborted babies down drains and toilets.<\/p>\n

“I just remember standing there thinking, ‘All those babies are in the Des Moines sewer system,'” former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer told<\/a> Live Action in 2017 of aborted babies being flushed down an abortion facility sink.<\/p>\n

Another former abortion worker named Kathy Sparks gave similar testimony<\/a> in the video “Meet the Abortion Providers<\/a>.” She explained that when an older baby was aborted illegally, the abortion workers would hide the crime by flushing the body rather than disposing of it with medical waste. She said:<\/p>\n

[O]ftentimes, second-trimester abortions were performed and these babies we would not put in the little jar with the label to send off to the pathology lab. We would put them down a flushing toilet. They had a toilet that was mounted to the wall, and it was a continually flushing toilet; it didn’t have a lid or a handle. That’s where they would put these babies.<\/em><\/p>\n

With the steady rise of DIY at-home abortions with the abortion pill, the practice of flushing babies down the toilet could become the norm. Dr. Calum MacKellar of the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics argued against making DIY abortions permanent following the COVID-19 pandemic, saying these babies should not “be discarded as worthless waste.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWith home abortions […] appropriate and sensitive respect for the disposal of the remains of the embryo\/foetus does not generally take place since these are usually flushed down the toilet or discarded as waste in another manner. An outcome which may cause considerable distress to some vulnerable women having an abortion as well as the persons supporting them at home,” he explained<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThis may happen because of their possible grief, especially when they see the dead embryo\/foetus, which is up to 3-6cm in size at about ten weeks of gestation and which ends up in the sewage.”<\/p>\n

He went on to argue, \u201cIt may also create very significant trauma to other professionals, such as sewage and plumbing professionals, if they ever encounter these dead human embryos\/foetuses in the course of their work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flushing human beings down drains or toilets is inhumane and disrespectful. But as pro-abortion advocates push for more at-home abortions<\/a>, the number of babies flushed will only increase.<\/p>\n
