{"id":253685,"date":"2021-09-20T12:43:57","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T17:43:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=253685"},"modified":"2021-09-19T21:55:34","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T02:55:34","slug":"florida-abortion-facility-injured-women-shut-doors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/florida-abortion-facility-injured-women-shut-doors\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida abortion facility that injured multiple women has shut its doors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this month, Florida abortionist Ali Azima\u2019s Venice Woman&#8217;s Health Center permanently closed following a yearlong investigation led by the pro-life watchdog group, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reprotection.org\/post\/breaking-news-florida-abortion-business-closed-for-good\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reprotection, Inc.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0According to his website, the abortionist has retired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working in collaboration with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thomas More Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the group drew attention to the facility\u2019s unscrupulous practices by filing multiple complaints with the Florida Department of Health&#8217;s Division of Medical Quality Assurance and Division of Health Quality Assurance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One such <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eadn-wc01-1479010.nxedge.io\/cdn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Redacted-Azima-Complaint.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">complaint<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, filed in October last year, alleges that Azima and his staff initially refused to call an ambulance for a patient who experienced difficulty breathing after receiving anesthesia for a surgical abortion. Before the ambulance arrived, witnesses also described seeing blood running down the woman\u2019s thighs after she ran out of the clinic, screaming, \u201cCall 911! Call 911!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It appears the incident was not an isolated one, with Reprotection noting that Azima has a \u201chistory of medical negligence.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Florida abortionist\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abortiondocs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Ali-Azima-License-Suspension-Jan-15-1985.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical license<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was suspended in 1985 for a year due to repeated medical malpractice. As the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/florida-abortionist-unchecked-in-endangering-women-despite-history-of-complaints\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thomas More Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> noted, Azima\u2019s license was suspended due to multiple incidents \u201cin which he placed patients at great risk with sometimes disastrous results.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the ways that Azima was found to have mistreated women included not even bothering to review his patient\u2019s medical history or check the Rh blood factor before conducting a surgical abortion (which can affect future fertility). Other complaints accused Azima of using alcohol strong enough to burn a patient\u2019s cervix and vagina, failing to counsel abortion-minded or post-abortive patients, and failing to ensure all fetal body parts had been removed during the abortion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In another horrifying incident, a woman had to have emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy after Azima failed to realize the abortion was incomplete.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/florida-abortionist-9000-falsely-advertising-indiana\/\">Florida abortionist pays $9000 for falsely advertising abortions in Indiana<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Reprotection, Azima \u201cdisplayed signs of mental and physical impairment\u201d and shaky hands due to his age, which may have been a factor in his negligent treatment of women.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, that raises the question as to why the state allowed such a dangerous abortionist to continue his operations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are so glad that Ali Azima has retired and stopped harming women and killing children in Florida,&#8221; said <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2021\/09\/17\/florida-abortionist-with-a-history-of-botching-abortions-is-shut-down-for-good\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Missy Stone<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Senior Analyst at Reprotection. \u201cWith one more abortion business shut down, lives will be saved and women\u2019s health will no longer be endangered. Reprotection will continue to investigate dangerous doctors and abortion businesses nationwide and hold them accountable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is cases like this one that makes the work of Reprotection so important. I assume Azima shut his shop at least in part because Reprotection kept documenting his atrocious failures,\u201d stated Senior Counsel Matt Heffron of the Thomas More Society which often works with Stone and her team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBut this highlights a question that must be answered: Why do so many governmental units avoid their duties to regulate abortion facilities?\u201d asked Heffron. \u201cIf Azima had been in any other business, you can be assured there would have been swift action to protect the public.
