Despite claims to the contrary, Americans largely support the Texas Heartbeat Act banning abortion after a heartbeat can be detected, at approximately six weeks gestation.<\/p>\n

A new Rasmussen poll<\/a>\u00a0in which likely voters were asked, “The Supreme Court has refused to block a new Texas law that effectively prohibits most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Do you support or oppose the Texas law?” found that 46% of respondents (a plurality, or most of those polled) agreed with the Texas law, while 43% opposed it.<\/p>\n

The abortion industry has been frantically peddling desperate myths<\/a> about the Texas Heartbeat Act, claiming that most Americans are outraged by it, and claiming that there is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks gestation (the embryonic heart begins to beat approximately three weeks<\/em> after fertilization). A recent tweet from Planned Parenthood Action tried to argue that nearly all Americans support widespread abortion, and that the Texas law is, therefore, extreme.<\/p>\n
