President Biden responded<\/a> to the enactment<\/a> of the Texas Heartbeat Act yesterday in a statement, calling abortion a constitutional right and ignoring the scientific fact that preborn children are living human beings with hearts that begin beating 16-22 days after fertilization.<\/p>\n

“Today, Texas law SB8 went into effect,” said Biden. “This extreme Texas law blatantly violates the constitutional right established under Roe v. Wade\u00a0<\/em>and upheld as precedent for nearly half a century.\u00a0The Texas law will significantly impair women’s access to the health care they need, particularly for communities of color and individuals with low incomes,” he continued. “And, outrageously, it deputizes private citizens to bring lawsuits against anyone who they believe has helped another person get an abortion, which might even include family members, health care workers, front desk staff at a health care clinic, or strangers with no connection to the individual.”<\/p>\n

Biden said his administration “is deeply committed to the constitutional right established in Roe v. Wade<\/em> nearly five decades ago and will protect and defend that right.” It is a tragedy that the United States government is pushing so hard to allow innocent human lives to be killed through violent acts of abortion.<\/p>\n

Abortion is not a constitutional right<\/strong><\/p>\n

Using a so-called right to privacy in the Fourth Amendment, which doesn’t include the word “privacy,” the Supreme Court created a false constitutional right<\/a>\u00a0to abortion.<\/p>\n

“[T]he Supreme Court literally conjured [the right to abortion] out of thin air,” explained<\/a> Brian Clowes, Ph.D. He added, “When people claim a ‘right’ to privacy in order to cover illicit and sinful actions, as in a constitutional right to abortion, justice always<\/em> suffers grave damage, because the rights of God and of other persons are simply disregarded.”<\/p>\n

No one can morally use a “right to privacy” to kill another human being, but that is what the faulty decision of\u00a0Roe v. Wade<\/em> has allowed to happen to 62 million innocent American preborn children.<\/p>\n

As for whether or not Roe v. Wade<\/em> is precedent that can’t be undone, Biden is wrong again. Any Supreme Court ruling can be overruled if it is found to be bad<\/em> precedent. This happened in 1954 when the Brown v. Board of Education<\/em> ruling overturned<\/a> the precedent set in Plessy v. Ferguson<\/em>, which had determined segregated schools to be constitutional.<\/p>\n

Abortion is not health care<\/strong><\/p>\n

Biden called abortion “health care” that women “need.” However, there is no medical reason for a woman to undergo an abortion, a fact to which countless doctors have attested. One thousand doctors signed the Dublin Declaration<\/a>, affirming that abortion is never medically necessary.<\/p>\n

As neonatologist Dr. Kendra Kolb explained in a video<\/a> for Live Action, “In situations where the mother’s life is truly in jeopardy, her pregnancy must end, and the baby must be delivered \u2014 these situations occur in cases of mothers who develop dangerously high blood pressure, have decompensating heart disease, life-threatening diabetes, cancer, or a number of other very serious medical conditions. Some babies do need to be delivered before they are able to survive outside the womb, which occurs around 22 to 24 weeks of life. These situations are considered a preterm delivery and not an abortion.”<\/p>\n

If a pregnancy needs to end because of a medical emergency, the preborn child can be delivered prematurely and doctors can try to save the lives of both the mother and the child. An abortion, however, is the intentional killing of the preborn child prior to delivery \u2014 a violent act that would take longer and be riskier to the mother than an emergency C-section would be.<\/p>\n

Singling out women of color is discriminatory<\/strong><\/p>\n

Biden singled out women of color and women with lower incomes when discussing why he believes abortion should be readily available. This is discriminatory. The abortion movement has its roots in the population control and eugenics movements that targeted minorities \u2014 and it is still targeting them.<\/p>\n

Leaders in the Black community have been warning<\/a> about the use of abortion as a tool of genocide for decades. Still, Black Americans account<\/a> for a large number of abortions in the United States with an abortion rate of 21.2 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44 in 2018, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For comparison, the abortion rate for white women in 2018 was 6.3 abortions per 1,000 women.<\/p>\n

“Blacks suffer more from abortion because what looks like help is actually striking against them,” said<\/a> Dr. Mildred Jefferson, the first Black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School and the first woman employed as a general surgeon at Boston University Medical Center. “Blacks are fewer. They will disappear sooner…”<\/p>\n

Dr. Jefferson also said that “[a]bortion is class war against the poor.” She told the Pittsburgh Press in 1977, “Abortionists argue, ‘Let the poor have abortions like the rich can.’ Then abortionists should make a list of the other things rich women have that they’re going to give to poor women.”<\/p>\n

She called abortion “genocide” and said those who support abortion for low income women were doing so “to keep down the costs of caring for the poor” and “get rid of those who are going to run up the costs.”<\/p>\n

Abortion is not a constitutional right, good precedent, or health care. As a personally pro-life Catholic, Biden knows that abortion is morally wrong, yet he is willing to allow legalized abortion to continue to kill innocent humans and destroy women.<\/p>\n
