{"id":252327,"date":"2021-09-02T14:33:50","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T19:33:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=252327"},"modified":"2021-09-01T22:53:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-02T03:53:15","slug":"texas-abortion-provide-family-threatens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/texas-abortion-provide-family-threatens\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas abortionist: New abortion law &#8216;threatens my ability to care for my family&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Texas Senate Bill 8 went into <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-proponents-supreme-court-halt-texas-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">effect<\/a> on September 1, 2021, restricting abortion once a preborn child&#8217;s heartbeat is detectable \u2014 typically at about six weeks gestation (four weeks past fertilization). The heartbeat actually begins 16-22 days after fertilization. Now one Texas abortionist is claiming the law will prevent her from caring for her family.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This law threatens my livelihood,&#8221; Dr. Ghazaleh Moaydei, a board member with Physicians for Reproductive Health told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/08\/29\/1032259863\/texas-ob-gyn-my-existence-is-in-violation-of-the-new-abortion-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NPR<\/a>. &#8220;It threatens my ability to care for my family. It threatens my career simply for doing what I was trained to do right here in Texas. You know, I went to medical school here. I went to college here. And I went to residency here. This is my state, too. And it&#8217;s unbelievable what physicians are \u2014 and health care providers, our nurses, our staff are \u2014 having to endure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Texas law allows private citizens to sue abortionists who break the law, as well as others who aid in an abortion after a preborn child&#8217;s heartbeat can be detected. Moayedi said she intends to comply with the law, but admitted she plans &#8220;on traveling to take care of Texans wherever they go and wherever they need abortion care.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Moayedi may want to convince Americans that she can&#8217;t care for her family or continue working in her career if abortion is heavily restricted, this isn&#8217;t true. <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-doctors-force-abortionists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research<\/a> has consistently shown that most OB\/GYNs <em>do not commit<\/em> abortions, and yet their careers remain intact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/texas-pro-abortion-pastors-social-moral-good\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas pro-abortion group trains pastors to promote abortion as a \u2018moral and social good\u2019<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TyfwwF80WFk\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/news-release\/2017\/most-us-obstetrician-gynecologists-private-practice-do-not-provide-abortions-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">83% of OB\/GYNs<\/a> in private practice do not commit abortions. The pro-abortion American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists likewise found that fewer than <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-no-longer-between-woman-doctor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one in four OB\/GYNs<\/a> are willing to commit abortions. Yet, they still have careers. While the abortion industry claims that these statistics are reflective of the fear of being stigmatized as an abortionist, a more likely reason is because these doctors are fully aware of life in the womb, and they know that abortion ends a human life. The Dublin Declaration was signed by over 1,000 healthcare providers, affirming that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=13&amp;v=0NsLbOS_eKY\">abortion is never medically necessary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;[T]he vast, vast majority of OB\/GYNs do not participate in [abortions],&#8221; private practice OB\/GYN Dr. Alicia Thompson <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/doctor-most-obgyns-dont-do-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> the Coming Home Network. &#8220;One study came out and said it was 85% of OB\/GYNs do not perform abortions, and then one came out even later, more recently &#8230; [that] said&#8230; that of private practice OB\/GYNs&#8230; 93% of us do not offer abortions in our private practices. And of those 93%, a majority of them don&#8217;t even refer [for abortions].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added that her experience has been that pro-life OB\/GYNs are &#8220;actually much more well-received than you would expect, because while the common stereotype is that all OB\/GYNs are vehemently pro-choice, that doesn&#8217;t translate into what we&#8217;re doing in our lives. So when you actually say, &#8216;I don&#8217;t want to,&#8217; you&#8217;re met with a large group of companions and peers who agree with you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Abortion is a lucrative business. Moayedi may have decided to dedicate her OB\/GYN career to killing preborn babies instead of caring for them and their mothers, but she could have a financially stable career even if abortion were completely outlawed.
