Young. Powerful. Taking over.<\/em> That\u2019s the slogan of <\/span>Advocates for Youth<\/span><\/a> (AFY), a non-profit organization with a benevolent-sounding name. What, exactly, are they “taking over”? If the organization has its way, and if it is allowed to proceed on its current trajectory, it will be taking over the sex-ed curriculum at your child\u2019s school. The organization has already done so \u201cin more than 100 school districts across the U.S., reaching more than 2.5 million students,\u201d according to its\u00a0<\/span>2020 tax return<\/span><\/a>, and it is poised to expand its influence on a massive scale.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps your child is one of the 2.5 million already being \u201cinstructed\u201d by this organization.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AFY\u2019s extremist agenda, which is no secret, is major cause for alarm. It pushes for more contraception and more abortion, probably because it endorses and promotes no-strings sex \u2014 <\/span>for virtually <\/span>all<\/span><\/i> age groups<\/span><\/a>. \u201cOne of the main goals of instituting sex education in schools is to help young people reduce sexual risk behaviors (e.g., early initiation of sex, multiple sexual partners, sex without contraception or condoms, [and] substance use before or during intercourse),\u201d states one of AFY’s\u00a0<\/span>fact sheets<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Discouraging children from having sex is <\/span>not<\/span><\/i> listed among AFY’s goals. It denigrates abstinence-focused education, claiming that this sort of instruction \u201cuse[s] fear and shame to control young people\u2019s behavior, often include[s] medically inaccurate information, [and] perpetuate[s] harmful gender stereotypes….\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cConfidential\u201d and \u201cConvenient\u201d Contraception<\/b><\/p>\n

Instead, AFY takes a hard-line pro-contraception stance, saying this on its\u00a0<\/span>website<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(emphasis added)<\/span>:<\/span><\/p>\n

Young people have the right to … access to condoms, contraception, and services. Young people in the United States and around the world need information about contraception <\/span>well before they become sexually active<\/b>. They need to understand how various methods of birth control work … and where to get them. They need support and <\/span>encouragement<\/b> from their peers, adults, and the media to increase their comfort level with condoms and birth control. Importantly, they need full access to <\/span>confidential<\/b>, safe, and <\/span>convenient<\/b> family planning services.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In other words, this organization believes children are <\/span>entitled<\/span><\/i> to get condoms and other forms of contraception with ease and <\/span>without their parents\u2019 knowledge<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To that end, AFY has launched two initiatives. It has partnered with the Trojan condom company to launch the <\/span>Condom Collective<\/span><\/a>, which it claims gives away over <\/span>one million<\/span><\/a> condoms per year. It has also partnered with <\/span>Ibis Reproductive Health<\/span><\/a> \u2014\u00a0the organization behind <\/span>LaterAbortion.org<\/span><\/a>, which exists to promote exactly that, and <\/span>MedicationAbortion.com<\/span><\/a>, which also promotes what it proclaims \u2014 to launch the <\/span>#FreeThePill Youth Council<\/span><\/a>, which lobbies to make oral contraceptives available over-the-counter. AFY\u2019s 2019 <\/span>tax return<\/span><\/a> reveals that it donated tens of thousands of dollars to campaigns aimed toward this and other pro-contraception goals:<\/span><\/p>\n

READ:\u00a0U.S. and UK studies: Sex education, birth control access don\u2019t reduce teen pregnancy<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Neither AFY\u2019s website nor its comprehensive K-12 sex ed\u00a0<\/span>curriculum<\/span><\/a> seem to mention the reality of contraceptive failure, which <\/span>occurs<\/span><\/a> up to 13% of the time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Corrupting Kids<\/b><\/p>\n

Sex ed is another major component of AFY\u2019s agenda, and in addition to the previously mentioned curriculum, it has launched another very ambitious project, which<\/span>\u00a0is designed to provide<\/a> \u201cmedically accurate, age-appropriate, affirming, and honest sex education.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That project is <\/span>AMAZE<\/span><\/a>. The parent site is targeted primarily at \u201ctweens,\u201d although the site\u2019s <\/span>FAQ<\/span><\/a> states: \u201cIt\u2019s never too early [to] start talking.\u201d The <\/span>AMAZE Jr.<\/span><\/a> companion site is aimed at children as young as 4. \u201cAMAZE also strives to assist adults \u2026 to communicate effectively and honestly about sex and sexuality with the children and adolescents in their lives,\u201d according to the site. It primarily utilizes short videos focused on specific, often-uncomfortable topics which parents are likely to seek help in addressing.<\/span><\/p>\n

AMAZE may initially appear relatively innocuous, and its brightly colored, fart-joke filled, cartoon character-driven videos are purpose-built to achieve precisely that effect. The content and agenda which propel AMAZE, however, are deeply insidious, propagandic, and profoundly harmful to the juvenile audience the site professes to serve.<\/span><\/p>\n

Promoting Abortion<\/b><\/p>\n

The third major branch of AFY\u2019s agenda is promoting <\/span>abortion<\/span><\/a>. The organization not only believes young people have a \u201cright to abortion care,\u201d but that youth should lead \u201cthe fight to ensure everyone has access.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is most assuredly the goal behind the <\/span>Abortion Out Loud<\/span><\/a> initiative. This portion of the AFY website contains personal pro-abortion narratives, suggestions for ways kids can \u201cget involved\u201d in pro-abortion activism, and fact sheets with titles like \u201c<\/span>Abortion Law and How it Impacts Young People<\/span><\/a>\u201d and \u201c<\/span>Abortion and Young People in the United States<\/span><\/a>.\u201d The latter condemns parental notification laws and the Hyde Amendment and claims that \u201cabortion stigma causes harm to young people.\u201d The Abortion Out Loud page also contains a box on its \u201c<\/span>resources<\/span><\/a>\u201d page entitled \u201c<\/span>I need an abortion<\/span><\/a>\u201d which links to sanitized, inaccurate descriptions of <\/span>abortion procedures<\/span><\/a> and a clinic-finder link, both of which are located on abortion giant Planned Parenthood\u2019s website.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, Planned Parenthood\u2019s fingerprints are all over both Advocates For Youth and AMAZE. AFY\u2019s <\/span>Professional Learning Standards for Sex Education<\/span><\/a> was sponsored by Planned Parenthood:<\/span><\/p>\n

… and fully a third of the core committee responsible for authoring those standards were Planned Parenthood staff:<\/span><\/p>\n

One current AFY <\/span>staffer<\/span><\/a> is a former Planned Parenthood employee. And mentions of the organization are <\/span>all over<\/span><\/i> the AFY site–a search on \u201cPlanned Parenthood\u201d returned <\/span>31 pages<\/span><\/i><\/a> of results.<\/span><\/p>\n

And what about that cutesy, innocuous-seeming multimedia extension of AFY\u2019s sex-ed curriculum, AMAZE? Its\u00a0<\/span>list<\/span><\/a> of international partners includes seven<\/em> members of the International Planned Parenthood Federation:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And remember that former Planned Parenthood employee at AFY? She <\/span>works<\/span><\/a> for AMAZE, as well. Two of AMAZE’s Project Advisory Board <\/span>members<\/span><\/a> are also Planned Parenthood employees:<\/span><\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s <\/span>this<\/span><\/a>\u00a0direct promotion of Planned Parenthood’s Roo Chatbot, which directly connects minors to the abortion corporation:<\/span><\/p>\n

Advocates For Youth and its subsidiary project, AMAZE \u2014 both of which are producing content which is currently being used in schools across the nation \u2014 are heavily influenced by Planned Parenthood, which has significant influence in both organizations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But in what ways and to what end are they influencing our children, and why should parents be concerned? These subjects will be addressed in the subsequent installments of Live Action News’ “Selling Sex in Schools” series.<\/span><\/p>\n
