Twenty years of sexual abuse and coerced abortion allegations have finally caught up<\/a> to disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly, who now faces multiple state and federal charges including racketeering, sexual abuse, bribery, and violating the Mann Act, which prohibits taking minors across state lines for prostitution. His trial is currently taking place in New York, where an array of bombshell information has been revealed through testimony from witnesses and victims alike \u2014 including that R. Kelly allegedly forced multiple underage women into abortions.<\/p>\n

Multiple Jane Does are testifying against R. Kelly during the trial, including one who alleged that the singer married the now-deceased singer Aaliyah at the age of 15 so he could get her an abortion<\/a>. As Aaliyah tragically passed away in 2001 from a plane crash, she couldn’t speak firsthand about any abuse she suffered at R. Kelly’s hands. But other surviving victims could, and did.<\/p>\n

The woman currently known as Jane Doe #5\u00a0testified<\/a> that she met R. Kelly at the age of 17, when he began grooming her almost immediately. Jane was a junior in high school<\/a> at the time, and hoped to pursue a career as an R&B singer, as well as earn a music scholarship to college.\u00a0Jane thought she would be auditioning for R. Kelly, but instead, he immediately began pressuring her for sex. “I was against it,” she said. “I told him I did not come to please him. He continued to persist.”<\/p>\n

Her parents, scared for her, called police to do a wellness check on her after they couldn’t get in touch with her, but they left, despite Jane showing them her ID which clearly showed that she was underage. Jane soon became one of R. Kelly’s “girlfriends,” and she moved in with him. However, with her senior year of high school approaching, she told R. Kelly that she wanted to move back with her parents and finish high school; she said Kelly responded by slapping her in the face. She was only allowed to contact her parents on Kelly’s phone, and if she tried to defend her parents to Kelly, he punished her. Eventually, she wasn’t allowed to contact her parents at all, and he told her that she had been sold to him by her parents for drugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe would say that we were worthless and that we did not mean anything to them,\u201d Jane said. \u201cHe would basically say they had sold us to him… and that we were in a better situation with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
