Former Population Council director Dr. Stephanie Psaki has been appointed<\/a> by the Biden-Harris Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the position of Senior Advisor on Human Rights and Gender Equity in the Office of Global Affairs<\/a>. Psaki, the\u00a0sister<\/a> of White House press secretary\u00a0Jen Psaki<\/a>, previously served<\/a> as the deputy director<\/a> of the Population Council\u2019s Girl Innovation Research and Learning (GIRL) Center<\/a>. The Population Council is a well-known organization focusing on population control, founded by eugenicists. A recent employee claimed the organization is, to this day, “endemically racist.”<\/p>\n

Psaki is yet another in a long list<\/a> of Biden-Harris administration appointments filled by abortion advocates.<\/p>\n

Population Council is a eugenics-based population control organization<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Population Council is a eugenics-founded<\/a> organization credited with bringing the abortion pill (RU-486) to the United States and setting up<\/a> the pill\u2019s manufacturer, Danco Laboratories, LLC<\/a>. The organization was founded<\/a>\u00a0in 1952 by John D. Rockefeller III and has been led by many notables in the eugenics movement such as Frederick Osborn<\/a> (a founding member<\/a> of the American Eugenics Society) as well as Dr. Alan F. Guttmacher, a former Planned Parenthood president and VP of the American Eugenics Society, and others. Council members have been exposed for advocating\u00a0forced sterilization<\/a>\u00a0and racism, with a former Population Council employee recently\u00a0calling<\/a> the organization “endemically racist.”<\/p>\n

According to an archived page<\/a> from the Population Council, Stephanie Psaki joined the eugenics organization in 2013. By 2015<\/a>, Psaki was serving as the editor of the Population Council\u2019s publication, \u201cStudies in Family Planning<\/a>.\u201d This is the same publication which previously\u00a0published<\/a> a piece by the Council\u2019s fourth president, Bernard Berelson<\/a>, suggesting that if voluntary methods of birth control were unsuccessful, it may become necessary for the government to put a \u201cfertility control agent\u201d in the water supplies of \u201curban\u201d neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

According to a 2015 Government Accountability Office report, between 2010 and 2012, the federal government gave<\/a>\u00a0the Population Council millions of taxpayer dollars. A more current analysis has not been published.<\/p>\n

Following the HHS announcement, Stephanie Psaki was congratulated on Twitter<\/a>\u00a0by current Population Council president, Julia Bunting. Bunting made certain to note that her organization\u00a0<\/span>celebrated Psaki’s “service & contributions to <\/span>@Pop_Council<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>not least your leadership on <\/span>#GirlsEd<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>#GIRLCenter<\/a><\/span> & <\/span>#EGER<\/a><\/span> & look forward to you ensuring policies & programs are informed by evidence not ideology!”<\/span><\/p>\n

Stephanie Psaki’s believes abortion is “critical” for women and girls<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The newly appointed HHS advisor often\u00a0tweets<\/a> in approval of unrestricted abortion and support<\/a> of Planned Parenthood. She previously\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0that women cannot be empowered without “access to comprehensive sex education, family planning, safe access to abortion.”<\/p>\n

In 2019, Stephanie Psaki contributed<\/a>\u00a0to a report which\u00a0claimed that “access to modern contraception, safe and legal abortion” is among the “suite of SRH services, products, and information” which are “critical to girls\u2019 and women\u2019s health, education, and participation in society and the economy.”<\/p>\n

The report then suggested the removal of all barriers to abortion for adolescents, including laws requiring parental consent, recommending to governments and policymakers the\u00a0“Remov[al of] legal barriers that restrict access to [sexual and reproductive health] SRH services and information and opportunities to make decisions about one\u2019s own body and fertility.”<\/p>\n

“Liberalize abortion laws to enable all adolescent girls and women to obtain safe abortion services. Remove restrictions involving parental or partner consent to access abortion services and family planning methods….” the report went on to recommend.<\/p>\n

The report then recommended that\u00a0governments and policy makers commit to “guarantee the availability of affordable, accessible, and appropriate youth-friendly SRH services\u2014including a wide range of discreet and on-demand contraceptive options… safe abortion and post-abortion care, maternal and newborn care free of stigma, discrimination, coercion, and violence.”<\/p>\n
