With pro-life policies being wiped off the books and strategic pro-abortion policies ready-and-waiting, this administration could cost hundreds of thousands of preborn children their lives in the coming years of the Biden presidency. Along with them, countless women will be left living in deep regret. Each pro-abortion effort of the Biden administration directly affects pro-life efforts to save lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gGaoEdzaJ1U\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Excluding the Hyde Amendment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden is the first president to exclude the Hyde Amendment \u2014 a pro-life rider preventing federal taxpayers from funding most abortions \u2014 from his proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-proposed-budget-forces-taxpayers-fund-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">budget<\/a>, aiming to force even pro-life federal taxpayers to pay for the abortions of\u00a0low-income women, primarily through Medicaid. More distressing, however, is that without the Hyde Amendment in place, the number of preborn babies killed by abortion each year is likely to increase.\u00a0The Hyde Amendment has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-hyde-amendment-saved-2-4-million-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saved an estimated 2.4 million lives<\/a> from abortion \u2014 about 60,000 per year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayers-fund-abortion-more-happen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statistics have long established<\/a>\u00a0that taxpayer funding for abortion actually\u00a0<em>increases<\/em>\u00a0the number of abortions committed. A 2017\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tarahealthfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/RHIA_InvestmentCase.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0by the pro-abortion Reproductive Health Investors Alliance showed that in states that\u00a0<em>don\u2019t<\/em>\u00a0allow state Medicaid to pay for abortions, the percentage of abortions paid for by taxpayers was just 1.5%. However, in states that <em>do\u00a0allow<\/em>\u00a0state Medicaid to pay for abortions, that percentage jumped to a whopping 52.2%.\u00a0The pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/surprise-guttmacher-survey-shows-women-get-taxpayer-funded-abortions-may-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a>\u00a0that women who undergo government-funded abortions tend to have\u00a0<em>more<\/em>\u00a0abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The Hyde Amendment] may be the pro-life movement\u2019s single greatest achievement,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hyde-amendment-greatest-pro-life-achievement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notes<\/a> Kelsey Hazzard, founder of Secular Pro-life. \u201c[\u2026] The Hyde Amendment matters both because it saves lives and because it sends a message about our national values. It says we don\u2019t believe people are better off dead than poor. It says we don\u2019t believe Medicaid kids should be targeted for destruction. And it says we won\u2019t force people of conscience to be complicit in killing children in the womb just by paying their taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YpyjpEf0sbo\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While federal Medicaid helps cover the medical costs associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care for low-income women, it doesn&#8217;t currently pay for most abortions. Without the Hyde Amendment, however, federal Medicaid <em>will<\/em> pay abortionists to end the lives of low-income preborn children. This means low-income women, who are facing unplanned pregnancies and want to <em>keep<\/em> their babies but are concerned about finances, will face pressure to abort solely because they are underprivileged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[W]omen are coerced into having abortions by their parents, by their partners, by their employers, and by the abortion industry workers, staff, and doctors,\u201d pro-life activist Christina Bennett <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/prolifer-taxpayer-funded-abortion-hurt-black-community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> in an interview with Live Action News. \u201cAnd so when you make abortion free [of cost to the client], you\u2019re adding to that encouragement. You\u2019re encouraging abortion when you make it free because, just in general, that\u2019s a sales tactic, making something free. If something is free you\u2019re going to consider it regardless of what it is. If someone says, \u2018Do you want this? It\u2019s free.&#8217; You\u2019re going to think, \u2018Do I want this?\u2019 So, for women who are already vulnerable, already under pressure to abort, it becomes this enticement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In order to combat this increased pressure on low-income women to have abortions, pro-life pregnancy centers will need to extend their reach and ensure more women are made aware of the resources available to them when they choose life for their babies. This could prove difficult with the recent string of pro-abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-naral-attacking-pregnancy-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attacks<\/a> on pro-life pregnancy centers. An increased effort will be required of pro-lifers to support their local pro-life centers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-first-weeks-gift-big-abortion\/\">Biden\u2019s first weeks in office have been a gift to Big Abortion<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Undoing Trump&#8217;s Protect Life Rule<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of Biden&#8217;s first acts as president was to ask the Department of Health and Human Services to undo the Trump administration&#8217;s Protect Life Rule, which prohibited Title X family planning funding from supporting abortion businesses. Any facility that committed abortions was ineligible under Trump&#8217;s rule to receive the funding unless it physically and financially separated the abortion side of its business from its legitimate health care practices. Planned Parenthood refused to cooperate with the rule and walked away from $60 million in Title X funding. The restoration of that funding allows Planned Parenthood \u00a0to further promote abortion and increase its profits.<\/p>\n<p>Money is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fungible<\/a>, and when federal taxpayer dollars are given to abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood, it\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-taxpayer-title-x-fund-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">frees up<\/a>\u00a0other money which would normally be used for standard expenses, such as salaries and rent, to pay directly for abortions. Abortion is a million-dollar industry, and even without Title X funding in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/67\/30\/67305ea1-8da2-4cee-9191-19228c1d6f70\/210219-annual-report-2019-2020-web-final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019-2020<\/a>, Planned Parenthood took in its highest amount of annual taxpayer revenue ever: $618.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other pro-abortion organizations vastly outmatch the pro-life movement when it comes to available cash on hand. With most major media outlets silencing the pro-life message and propping up the abortion industry, putting more money in Planned Parenthood&#8217;s pocket could lead to more expansive abortion access.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Promising to codify Roe v. Wade<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden has vowed to codify <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, into law. Currently, states are able to pass restrictions on abortion after the preborn child is considered viable, which current standards place around 24 weeks. The law has yet to catch up, however, as babies as young as 21 weeks are capable of surviving outside the womb with proper medical care, and abortionists have admitted that &#8216;viability&#8217; is a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-abortionist-abortion-moral-valid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moving target<\/a>\u00a0and not a set standard in their view. If <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> is codified in legislation, abortion on demand would become a &#8220;right&#8221; under federal law regardless of the reason or the child&#8217;s age. Abortion would be completely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/2019\/10\/what-does-codify-roe-v-wade-mean-from-democratic-debate.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unrestricted<\/a> throughout the United States and states would be unable to pass any restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>On the 48th anniversary of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> just days after he took office, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/22\/biden-harris-appoint-judges-roe-wade-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a>, &#8220;The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to codifying\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>\u00a0and appointing judges that respect foundational precedents like <em>Roe<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion senators are already taking steps to ensure that women have unrestricted access to abortion by introducing the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/congress-bill-abortion-birth-eliminating-pro-life\/\">Women&#8217;s Health Protection Act<\/a>. An analysis of the bill by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/ten-things-you-need-to-know-about-hr-2975\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charlotte Lozier Institute<\/a> confirmed that the bill treats abortion as if it were any other medical procedure, and if passed, could jeopardize all pro-life efforts up to this point. Pro-life lawmakers must take action to stop such pro-abortion bills from advancing and ensure that more pro-life bills are enacted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QmOGw9HGswQ\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expanding access to the abortion pill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/abortion-pill-restrictions-lifted-pandemic-fda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April<\/a>, the Biden administration announced that it would temporarily lift an FDA safety rule known as REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy) in place since 2000 that states the abortion pill must be dispensed by a certified prescriber and administered in a medical setting. These safety measures help ensure that a preborn child is no more than 10 weeks old (the age limit for the abortion pill), that the mother is not experiencing an ectopic pregnancy \u2014\u00a0in which case the abortion pill could cause her to hemorrhage and die \u2014\u00a0and that she has a doctor who is following her care. The abortion pill has been found to be four times more dangerous than the first-trimester surgical abortion procedure, yet the abortion industry <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/private-abortion-soft-pedals-dangerous-at-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saw an opportunity<\/a> with the COVID-19 pandemic. With COVID as its excuse, the abortion industry began to advocate strongly for at-home &#8216;DIY&#8217; abortions.<\/p>\n<p>But allowing the abortion pill to be administered online and through the mail will not only increase access to abortion leading to more preborn lives lost; it will (and already has) put the health and lives of women at risk. After the UK allowed the abortion pill to be mailed to women during the pandemic, two women\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/police-investigating-death-28-week-baby-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">died<\/a> and Wales\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northwalespioneer.co.uk\/news\/19115346.lockdown-regulation-enabling-at-home-abortions-putting-women-risk-says-ms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0a 100% increase in ambulance calls from people taking abortion pills at home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lwfT5ChAPoo\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-funded-abortion-pill-investor-buffett-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Profit<\/a> is the driving force of the abortion industry&#8217;s efforts to expand access to the abortion pill. As Live Action News previously <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/industry-making-killing-abortion-pill-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, the abortion industry is grossing an estimated $200 million annually in abortion pill sales. Using telemedicine to send the abortion pill to women who may not live close to an abortion facility will only increase those profits. Because of this, abortion organizations have been pressuring the Biden administration to permanently remove the REMS safety protocol on the abortion pill, and the FDA announced in May that it would begin a review of the rule to consider lifting it permanently.<\/p>\n<p>To counteract the abortion industry&#8217;s efforts\u00a0to increase access to the abortion pill, the pro-life movement must increase its own efforts to educate women of the truth about fetal development and of the risks to women&#8217;s own health. Women must also be educated on <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-reversal-hope\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion pill reversal<\/a>, which may be able to save the lives of preborn children even after the first of the two-drug abortion pill regimen has been taken.<\/p>\n<p><strong>International funding of abortion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-us-fund-abortions-overseas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rescinded<\/a> the Mexico City Policy during his first week in office, he ensured that federal taxpayer dollars would be used to fund abortions in other countries.\u00a0According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/rescinding-the-mexico-city-policy-is-bad-for-america-bad-for-the-world-opinion\/ar-BB1caIVf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>, 75% of Americans\u00a0<em>oppose<\/em>\u00a0funding international abortions with taxpayer dollars, including 61% of those surveyed who consider themselves \u201cpro-choice.\u201d Likewise, a January 2021 Marist Poll\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kofc.org\/en\/resources\/news-room\/polls\/kofc-americans-opinions-on-abortion012021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a>\u00a0that 77% of Americans\u00a0<em>oppose<\/em>\u00a0using tax dollars to support overseas abortion, including 64% of those who consider themselves to be \u201cpro-choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/in-first-100-days-biden-harris-administration-helps-to-cement-a-culture-of-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reinstated<\/a> funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which promotes abortion as a human right and has a history of using coercive methods to put its agenda into action. It also works in countries know to carry out forced abortions and sterilization procedures, including China.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-life activist\u00a0Obianuju Ekeocha, founder of Culture of Life Africa, explained\u00a0that \u201cmost African languages don\u2019t even have a way of phrasing having an abortion that means anything good.\u201d Yet the Biden Administration is promoting abortion with American taxpayer dollars in African countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of the African communities actually believe by their traditions and their cultural standards that abortion is a direct attack on human life,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/african-woman-to-un-pushing-abortion-on-africa-is-colonization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Ekeocha. She said that when the Western world forces abortion on African nations it is equivalent to telling an African woman \u201cwhat her parents, her grandparents, her ancestors taught her is actually wrong. You\u2019re going to have to tell her that they have always been wrong, and that&#8230;\u00a0 is colonization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LZ6nioMimCc\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Likewise,\u00a0Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja, Nigeria, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/african-archbishop-biden-funding-abortion-overseas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that Biden&#8217;s decision to restore funding of international abortions\u00a0\u201cviolates human dignity&#8221; and that Biden &#8220;should use his office to prioritize the most vulnerable, including unborn children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pro-life movement&#8217;s global reach must expand to help protect pro-life nations from the pressure that exists for them to decriminalize abortion, as is currently happening to pro-life nations in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/survey-85-kenyans-pro-life-pressure-legalize-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Africa<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/eu-parliament-votes-support-abortion-fundamental-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Union<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-legalize-abortion-argentina-nation-opposed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since taking office, Biden and his administration have increased the reach of the abortion industry into every corner of the globe. Because of the pro-abortion political decisions of a president who claims to be a personally pro-life Catholic, the abortion industry has even more money and power to attempt to out-market and outmaneuver pro-life efforts worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>In the face of strong opposition, the pro-life movement will continue to educate the public of the science about human beings in the womb, to provide help for women and families experiencing unplanned pregnancies, and to provide healing resources for those wounded by abortion \u2014 and so much more.
