This is why the State of Mississippi has sought to restrict the controversial dismemberment procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The state&#8217;s case will soon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/mississippi-15-week-abortion-ban-supreme-court\/\">be brought<\/a>\u00a0before the U.S. Supreme Court to determine its constitutionality.<\/p>\n<p>The D&amp;E\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/?__hstc=61024563.478fd7dbc07a6e695b4845418ea62b2e.1604423549341.1624467325679.1624469822902.823&amp;__hssc=61024563.14.1624469822902&amp;__hsfp=4176385453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">procedure<\/a>, as described by former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino in the video below, involves dismembering a preborn child&#8217;s arms and legs from her torso before crushing her skull. The procedure is so brutal that one abortionist claimed the term \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-violent-photos-real-abortionist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">butchers<\/a>\u201d might be accurately applied to abortionists, while others have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/de-abortion-destructive-violent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admitted<\/a> the procedure is violent:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jgw4X7Dw_3k\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>D&amp;E dismemberment abortion most common<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While all abortions have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-trainers-first-trimester-major-risks\/\">potentially serious risks<\/a>, the abortion industry will acknowledge some risk increase into the second trimester.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Although <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-pretends-100000-late-term-abortions-every-year-no-big-deal-theyre-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second-trimester abortion<\/a> is very safe, it is associated with a higher risk of complications compared to early abortion, and it\u2019s more expensive for women,&#8221; abortionist Daniel Grossman once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/more-second-trimester-abortions-occurred-under-texas-law-exclusive-n604246\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>Abortionist Willie Parker admitted the increased risk (though downplaying it in general) in his book, &#8220;Life&#8217;s Work: A Moral Argument for Choice&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Everything is more difficult in a second trimester abortion&#8230; In these procedures, the risk of serious complications increases (although at any gestational age the risk is less than 1 percent)&#8230;. [because] in a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cdc-report-later-abortions-often-public-believe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second trimester abortion<\/a> I have to evacuate her uterus differently.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Compared to a suction procedure, a D&amp;E can take a relatively long time, sometimes as much as fifteen minutes.&#8221; Parker wrote. He also noted,\u00a0&#8220;There&#8217;s a higher chance of perforating the uterine wall with the forceps or doing damage to an adjacent organ, and a higher risk of leaving some part of the pregnancy behind: part of the placenta can get stuck on scar tissue from a caesarean for example.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Parker, who claims to be a Christian and who believes abortion is moral, formerly <a href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/appellate-courts\/ca5\/13-60599\/13-60599-2014-07-29.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worked<\/a> at Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization (JWHO),\u00a0the Mississippi abortion facility whose case will likely be heard before the Supreme Court this fall.\u00a0His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drwillieparker.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> states he has committed abortions in &#8220;AL, MS, PA, GA, and IL, and is the former Medical Director of Planned Parenthood Metropolitan Washington, D.C.&#8221; He has also been the &#8220;chair of the board of Physicians for Reproductive Health, and a board member of The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.&#8221;\u00a0According to his website, he has also &#8220;received Planned Parenthood\u2019s Margaret Sanger Award&#8230;[and]&#8230;the &#8216;Champions of Choice&#8217; Award from NARAL.&#8221; Not long ago, Parker was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortionist-willie-parker-accused-sexual-assault\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused<\/a> of sexual assault, an allegation he has denied.<\/p>\n<p>Parker isn&#8217;t alone in his admission of a D&amp;E&#8217;s risks. In his book, \u201cAbortion Practice,\u201d late-term abortionist Warren Hern noted another possible reason for increased risk during a second-trimester abortion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Fetal weight doubles from 13 to 14 weeks, and total tissue weight almost doubles. The fetus is significantly larger than at 12 weeks and the calvaria may not easily enter or pass a large (12 mm) suction cannula\u2026\u201d wrote Hern.\u00a0\u201cAt 13-14 weeks from the first day of the LMP, a transition period exists between straightforward vacuum aspiration and a true D and E procedure&#8230; At 15 weeks\u2026 the procedure continues with forceps\u2026&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The forceps must be closed as much as possible or the tissue between the blades will render it too wide to withdraw through the internal os\u2026 Once the tissue is grasped, the forceps is withdrawn\u2026 with a rotating motion\u2026 Too large an amount of tissue taken with the forceps may require more dilation\u2026&#8221; Hern wrote.\u00a0&#8220;The calvaria [skull] is about the size of a Ping-Pong ball and usually can be grasped readily\u2026.\u00a0Collapsing it gives a definite sensation, which can be identified simultaneously with the appearance of the calvaria sign.&#8221; That &#8220;sign&#8221; is the presence of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lifedynamics.com\/what-is-abortion\/abortion-methods\/\">baby&#8217;s brain matter flowing from the uterus<\/a>.\u00a0Hern noted, \u201cAs the calvaria is grasped, a sensation that it is collapsing is almost always accompanied by the extrusion of white cerebral material\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abortionist Willie Parker also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/books\/edition\/Life_s_Work\/BTIvDQAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=%22manual+disarticulation+of+the+fetus+%22&amp;pg=PA100&amp;printsec=frontcover\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a>\u00a0how the child&#8217;s calvarium, or skull, can complication things in the second trimester:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At sixteen weeks the fetal skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the calvarium, or skull, is too ossified to be able to collapse easily and fit through a tube.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>So, I do the procedure manually with a process called dilation and evacuation, or D&amp;E: a manual &#8220;disarticulation&#8221; of the fetus itself, separating the fetus into smaller parts using forceps, and pulling them, along with the placenta, out of the uterus through the cervix, now widened to about 2.5 centimeters.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The level of skill and experience required of any physician doing these procedures is higher,&#8221; Parker claimed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s lives at risk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pro-life watchdog group Operation Rescue has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/?s=dismemberment%2C+ambulance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> multiple injuries to women <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/roughly-80-percent-late-abortions-elective\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undergoing<\/a>\u00a0D&amp;E dismemberment abortions, including <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/two-women-uncontrolled-hemorrhaging-texas-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hemorrhage<\/a>, perforations and other serious and sometimes life-threatening complications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kvJWyqLtz4g\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In California, a D&amp;E abortion client was found by emergency workers <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/woman-hemorrhages-abortion-18-week-twins-beverly-hills\/\">in a pool of blood<\/a> after aborting 18-week twins.<\/p>\n<p>In another case, an abortion client <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/late-term-abortionist-mangled-patients-babies-traumatized\/\">suffered<\/a>\u00a0a \u201chuge\u201d hole in her uterus during a D&amp;E at the hands of late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart, who left parts of the preborn baby inside the mother \u2014\u00a0some of which had been shoved through the hole in her uterus, including one of the baby\u2019s legs. He also mangled the woman&#8217;s bowels.<\/p>\n<p>Testimony <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?328011-1\/hearing-planned-parenthood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">read<\/a>\u00a0from late-term abortion doctor LeRoy Carhart during a 2015 Congressional hearing suggested that due to the dismembering process, &#8220;<strong><em>The fetus in many cases dies, just as a human adult or child would \u2013 it bleeds to death.<\/em><\/strong><em>&#8220;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In September of 2019, the\u00a0Guttmacher Institute\u00a0(a former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\">special affiliate<\/a>\u201d\u00a0of Planned Parenthood)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/us-abortion-rate-lowest-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0abortion statistics\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/fact-sheet\/induced-abortion-united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">showing<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0862,320 abortions were reported to them in 2017.\u00a0Guttmacher\u2019s data <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cdc-report-later-abortions-often-public-believe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reveals<\/a>\u00a0an\u00a0estimated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-pretends-100000-late-term-abortions-every-year-no-big-deal-theyre-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100,000 (100,891)<\/a>\u00a0abortions took place<em>\u00a0in the second trimester or later\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a02017, when the preborn child can <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/preborn-babies-heightened-pain-8-weeks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">feel<\/a> pain.<\/p>\n<p>Out of that number, in just that year, there were an estimated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/11000-babies-potentially-survive-aborted-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11,000<\/a>\u00a0abortions committed at 21 weeks or later.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a>\u00a0for more pro-life news and commentary!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abortionists who use the D&amp;E abortions in the second trimester \u2014 the most common during that time frame \u2014 admit that the procedure is much more complicated than earlier abortions.
