Hundreds marched through the streets of Ottawa as thousands more watched online, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicregister.org\/item\/33091-hundreds-ignore-restrictions-to-join-march-for-life\">Catholic Register<\/a>. At the March&#8217;s end, 300 red roses were laid at the Centennial Flame monument on Parliament Hill in a visual homage to the 300 lives lost daily to abortion in the country of 38 million people, amounting to over 100,000 abortions annually.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMarchforLifeCanada%2Fposts%2F10165369998280217&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"430\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speakers repeatedly emphasized\u00a0the growing impact of abortion and assisted suicide in Canada each year.\u00a0Ontario&#8217;s Deputy State Knight in the Knights of Columbus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MarchforLifeCanada\/videos\/1935378526627116\">addressed the tragedy of assisted suicide<\/a>, saying, &#8220;Freedom..they talk about autonomy. It&#8217;s a lie&#8230;it&#8217;s about killing people at the most vulnerable time of their life. That&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening, that&#8217;s what it&#8217;s about. It&#8217;s about denying proper care, it&#8217;s about abandoning people at their time of need.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tragically, &#8220;each day more than 15 vulnerable Canadians are killed by euthanasia or assisted suicide,&#8221; according to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MarchforLifeCanada\/photos\/a.10150495392955217\/10165366089150217\"> March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cihi.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/document\/induced-abortions-reported-in-canada-in-2019-en.xlsx\">official statistics<\/a> reported 83,576 in-hospital or in-clinic abortions in 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcc-cdac.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/statistics-abortion-in-canada.pdf\">without apparent reference to statistics<\/a>\u00a0on the abortion pill regimen which is dispensed with a prescription for at-home use. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/medical-assistance-dying-annual-report-2019.html\">official statistics<\/a> for assisted suicide, known as &#8220;medical aid in dying,&#8221; 5,631 Canadians died this way in 2019, with significant year-over-year increases noted since its legalization in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/vulnerable-groups-canada-plead-assisted-suicide\/\">Vulnerable groups in Canada plead: Don\u2019t expand assisted suicide<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The state of Ontario is under an ongoing stay-at-home order, yet marchers and speakers noted that abortion has been \u00a0considered a protected &#8220;essential service&#8221; during the pandemic, necessitating the need for peaceful pro-life protest.\u00a0March organizer Debbie Duval of the Campaign for Life Coalition Ottawa told the Catholic Register, &#8220;They [the abortion industry] have not stopped, so why would we? Nothing is more essential than life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pro-life politicians were largely absent from <a href=\"https:\/\/marchforlife.ca\/\">Canada&#8217;s March<\/a>, with the sole exception being MP Derek Sloan. The leader of the Christian Heritage Party, Rod Taylor, also addressed the crowds.<\/p>\n<p>While speakers directly addressed Canada&#8217;s sobering abortion and assisted suicide statistics, celebrating the beauty of human life was ultimately the order of the day. One\u00a0mother received pro-life support to continue her pregnancy reiterated this year&#8217;s March theme, &#8216;You Are Not Alone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To my own baby boy who is well on his way, I promise \u2014\u00a0you are not alone.
