After discovering his deception and then that she was carrying his child, fear returned with more lies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t care either way what I did,\u201d LaToya recalled, \u201cwhether I kept the baby or not. I dropped it on him I was going to get an abortion. He offered to be there to \u2018help\u2019 me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LaToya went to Planned Parenthood and was given the abortion pill with instructions to take a second pill within 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The first drug in a chemical abortion,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/drugs\/2\/drug-20222-1449\/mifepristone-oral\/mifepristone-300-mg-oral\/details\/list-sideeffects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mifepristone<\/a>, destabilizes a mom\u2019s pregnancy. The second drug,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/drugs\/2\/drug-6111\/misoprostol-oral\/details\/list-sideeffects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">misoprostol<\/a>, typically taken a day or so later, causes her to go into labor and deliver her deceased child. Both chemical abortion drugs\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abortionpillreversal.com\/how-it-works\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have cramping, and other side negative effects<\/a>\u00a0associated with them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lRDnVSMr5j0\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got home, I sat there and I thought, if this is making me feel this bad, how was it making the baby feel?\u201d LaToya wondered. \u201cSo, I looked online to see what would happen if I didn&#8217;t take the second set of abortion pills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I did that, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/reverseabortionpill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>\u00a0popped up in the search called APR abortion pill reversal,\u201d she said. \u201cI had never heard anything about that. I never knew that you could reverse the effects of the abortion pill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/our-work\/apr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Abortion Pill Rescue\u00ae Network<\/a>\u00a0(APRN) is available 24 hours a day as LaToya had discovered.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reverseabortionpill.com\">Abortion pill reversal<\/a>\u00a0(APR) is a newer application of a decades-old treatment to prevent miscarriage. Progesterone is administered with the protocol to counter the first abortion drug. If a mom takes the abortion pill, experiences regret and acts quickly enough it may be possible to save her unborn child.<\/p>\n<p>The APRN is a network of some 1,000 rescue providers and pregnancy help centers that administer APR.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/our-work\/apr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Statistics show<\/a>\u00a0that to date, more than 2,000 lives\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartbeatinternational.org\/lives-saved\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have been saved<\/a>\u00a0thanks to the APRN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I called, and I explained the situation,\u201d LaToya stated. \u201cI took my first set of pills at like, 10 that morning. And I called them about 11, a little after 11, I spoke on-line. They said that they we&#8217;re going to get in touch with a doctor in my area. So, they did that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was connected with an APRN provider who is a family physician.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe called me back and he prescribed me progesterone to offset the effects of the first abortion pill,\u201d said LaToya. \u201cHe called that into the pharmacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since LaToya was afraid to tell her family that she was pregnant, she went to the baby\u2019s father\u2019s house for the promised \u2018help.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was at his house the day after I took the first pill (and after having started the progesterone to counter it). I was in pain with cramping,\u201d LaToya said, recalling her fears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ended up getting in a fight,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>It became clear he would not be someone she could rely on to get through this.<\/p>\n<p>That day would end their relationship and LaToya would go forward alone. She wouldn\u2019t tell her 18-year-old son or 14-year-old daughter about the pregnancy until she was four months along.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought the pain meant the progesterone wasn\u2019t working,\u201d she continued. \u201cI was concerned because I had a Doppler. I would listen to the baby\u2019s heartbeat and I heard her heartbeat pretty early on, but that whole weekend (LaToya had visited Planned Parenthood on Friday) I couldn\u2019t find her heartbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I was really afraid,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/woman-abortion-pill-depression-personal-hell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Woman who took abortion pill deals with depression and regret: \u2018I live in my own personal Hell\u2019<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Her doctor followed up with her and sent\u00a0her a referral for an emergency ultrasound at a group of local pregnancy help organizations (PHOs).<\/p>\n<p>The first ultrasound clarified that the progesterone was working, and LaToya\u2019s daughter was doing well. A week later the PHO provided another ultrasound showing the same results.<\/p>\n<p>Between the two ultrasounds LaToya was revisited by fear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was confident my body was not going to reject the baby,\u201d she said. \u201cBut could she stay viable, how much damage did the pill have? I was worried something could be wrong with her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LaToya had remembered the instructions given her at Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey told me I had to take the second pill no more than 48 hours later,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI would need to take a pregnancy test in three or four weeks to see if it was out of my system. They wouldn\u2019t charge for a suction abortion if I had to go back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood called her four weeks later to see what the results of her pregnancy test were.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said I didn\u2019t take the second pill, I changed my mind, I\u2019m going to keep my baby,\u201d said LaToya. \u201cAnd she was like, Oh. Okay. And I said, that&#8217;s it, I&#8217;m fine. I don&#8217;t need any more services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA week later I got a phone call from them again and I just didn\u2019t answer,\u201d said LaToya. \u201cI received a letter in the mail from them saying I needed to contact them to do a follow up. But I just threw that in the trash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said the pregnancy help organization and the staff there were amazing, continually following up with her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey checked in on me all the time and I just loved it,\u201d said LaToya. \u201cI love when I saw those text messages come through asking how the baby was doing, she was doing great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LaToya would wait until she was six months along to tell her own father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe thought there\u2019d be something wrong with the baby,\u201d she recalled. \u201cMy dad and sisters knew, but I didn\u2019t let the rest of the family know \u2018til after.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was six pounds, 15 ounces. And I had her in November 2020,\u201d LaToya said of her baby daughter. \u201cThey (the PHO) set up a baby shower for me. I came in for the baby shower and it was so helpful. During my pregnancy I worked so much I didn\u2019t have time to shop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even her other kids\u2019 fears were eliminated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy son and daughter, at first they were disappointed, not wanting to share room, put up with noise and so on,\u201d said LaToya. \u201cNow they love her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe brings me so much joy,\u201d she said of her little girl. \u201cIt feels different having a baby now (that she\u2019s older) I can appreciate every moment. I don\u2019t feel like I\u2019m \u2018missing out\u2019 on other things. I look forward to getting home from work and being with her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To any other woman who may encounter an unexpected pregnancy LaToya offers hope.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would tell her I was there,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I was embarrassed, disappointed, let down that I had been tricked, thinking I was going to be a failure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LaToya said she doesn\u2019t know what she would have done without abortion pill reversal or the pregnancy help center and their help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause they really were my support system,\u201d she said. \u201cThere is hope, there is help.
