According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/crime\/illegal-abortion-pills-online-trader-jailed-isleworth-b933411.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Evening Standard<\/a>, Singh acted as the &#8220;UK arm&#8221; of a Mumbai-based website, and stored pills at his home to mail to customers. He supplied the deadly pills to a couple from Gloucestershire in September 2018, after they were told by an abortion business that their baby was too far along to be legally aborted.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desiblitz.com\/content\/trader-jailed-for-supplying-illegal-abortion-pills\">search of the couple&#8217;s home<\/a>\u00a0led to the discovery of the abortion drugs mifepristone (most commonly known as the &#8220;abortion pill&#8221;) and misoprostol. In the U.S., these drugs are both given when a woman is prescribed the abortion pill protocol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/d6a3uXAxVr0\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>A police investigation was later launched when the mother did not show up at the hospital for the birth, which implies that she was originally planning to have her baby. &#8220;She told them she had lost the baby, she and her partner gave conflicting accounts of how the pregnancy came to an end, and they were arrested,&#8221; prosecutor Rosalind Earis said.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, she was four and a half weeks beyond the legal abortion age limit in England, which is 24 weeks. That puts her at nearly 29 weeks pregnant when she began seeking out an illegal abortion. A discarded envelope with unused pills was also found, and police were able to trace it to Singh, because he used his own bank card to pay the postage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It appears tragically that the baby is the real victim in this case,&#8221; said Judge Karen Holt. &#8220;There is no evidence put before the court that the baby is now alive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/uk-chain-sends-abortion-pills-beach-vacation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Against restrictions, UK abortion chain sends woman abortion pills so she can take a beach vacation<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though the couple gave conflicting stories of what happened, the court learned that the couple had searched online for abortion pills, and it was the baby&#8217;s father who placed an order for the drugs. Singh initially denied involvement and claimed he only sold jewelry, clothes, and toys online \u2014\u00a0but a search of his home two years after the baby&#8217;s death revealed more abortion pills and evidence that he was in contact with the Mumbai website operator. Singh pleaded guilty to supplying the pills.<\/p>\n<p>The judge condemned Singh for sending the pills to strangers outside of a medical facility under circumstances he did not know. However, as pointed out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spuc.org.uk\/News\/Articles\/ID\/384866\/Man-jailed-for-illegally-supplying-abortion-pills-beyond-the-legal-timeframe-and-without-medical-supervision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Society for the Protection of Unborn Children<\/a> (SPUC), current abortion pill <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/online-abortion-pill-dispensaries-back-alley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dispensary rules<\/a> in both the U.K. and the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-letter-permits-abortion-pill-by-mail-during-the-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> allow abortionists to do exactly that. A spokesperson for the pro-life organization said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>[&#8230;]\u00a0Judge Holt rightly condemned Mr Singh for supplying deadly abortion pills \u2018to people unknown\u2026 in unknown circumstances\u2026 outside suitable medical care\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>While this is true, these \u2018circumstances\u2019 differ very little from the current imposition of DIY home abortion by the Government,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spuc.org.uk\/Get-Involved\/Campaigns\/The-Case-Against-DIY-Abortions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allowing vulnerable women to procure and take abortion pills remotely and without medical supervision<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Abortion pills, which are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spuc.org.uk\/Get-Involved\/Campaigns\/Abortion-Pills-Not-Safe-Or-Simple\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">neither safe nor simple<\/a>, can have devastating consequences for women, as SPUC recently reported on when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spuc.org.uk\/News\/Articles\/ID\/384835\/23-year-old-Argentine-woman-dies-after-legal-chemical-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a 23-year-old student in Argentina died following a legal chemical abortion<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>DIY home abortion puts women at further risk, of infection and even death, as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spuc.org.uk\/News\/Articles\/ArticleType\/ArticleView\/ArticleID\/384688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased risk of coercion<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>While it appears that Mr Singh has been justly punished, the Government is just as morally culpable as any other trader of abortion.
