The action is based on a report from a group of experts on the issue. CNN reports that it will likely be months before the legislation is introduced.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ireland\u2019s Minister of Health, James Reilly, \u201c\u2026 we will clarify in legislation and regulation what is available by way of treatment to a woman when a pregnancy gives rise to a threat to a woman\u2019s life.\u201d Reilly also noted that \u201cat all times\u201d the government will take \u201cfull account of the equal right to life of the unborn child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Controversy over the blood poisoning death of Savita Halappanavar, who original articles claim was denied an abortion (although official documents say the request was never made), has led to inquires by authorities, but no reports have been released.<\/p>\n<p>A 1992 Irish Supreme Court ruling gave a woman the \u201cright\u201d to an abortion if her life is at risk, including by suicide.<\/p>\n<p>You might also be interested in <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-does-not-save-irish-womens-lives\/\">this article<\/a>\u00a0by Josh Craddock on a report by the British Department of Health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No changes in the law for a few months?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":13362,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false},"categories":[11],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.7 -
