According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/news\/utv\/2021-04-23\/abortion-services-suspended-in-western-trust\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITV News<\/a>, the trust said it can &#8220;no longer deliver early medical abortions due to staffing issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wholeheartedly welcome the suspension and believe it is an answer to prayer,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-gb\/news\/uknews\/abortion-services-suspension-by-western-trust-an-answer-to-prayer-believes-dup-mla-thomas-buchanan\/ar-BB1g4wbX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Democratic Unionist Party MLA\u00a0(Member of the Legislative Assembly) Thomas Buchanan. &#8220;I will continue to pray that it will remain in suspension, unable to open again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It has been over a year since abortion was legalized under controversial conditions in Northern Ireland and all of the health trusts in the nation have been committing chemical abortions (the abortion pill) up to 10 weeks since then. But last week, the Western Health Trust announced that, for the time being, it will no longer be able to do so.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Western Health and Social Care Trust have had to temporarily pause the delivery of the Early Medical Abortion Services,&#8221; said a statement from the trust. &#8220;Referrals for this service can no longer be accepted from 5.00pm on Friday 23 April 2021 until further notice.\u00a0The trust requires additional nursing and medical support in order to deliver this service and are actively exploring all options in respect to this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-political-northern-ireland-ramp-up\/\">Pro-abortion Irish political party accused of trying to \u2018ramp up\u2019 abortions in Northern Ireland<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Alliance Party, specifically MLA Paula Bradshaw, is calling on the Secretary of State to ensure that abortions are available. &#8220;The suspension of the early medical abortion service by the Western Trust merely demonstrates the failure of the health authorities to provide adequate resources towards the implementation of the law in Northern Ireland,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsletter.co.uk\/health\/western-health-trust-suspends-abortion-provision-alliance-party-calls-for-secretary-of-state-intervention-3211956\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Bradshaw.<\/p>\n<p>The abortion pill regimen involves two drugs: mifepristone and misoprostol.
