Under the new bill, only board-certified obstetricians and gynecologists would be allowed to commit abortions.\u00a0The bill passed the House in a vote of 80-19, along party lines, and will now go to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oklegislature.gov\/BillInfo.aspx?Bill=HB1904&amp;Session=2100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Bill 1904<\/a>\u00a0would help to protect women who undergo abortions from serious injuries caused by doctors who do not specialize in OB\/GYN care. In Louisiana, for example, women have suffered severe injures during abortions, which are allowed to be committed by <em>any<\/em> doctor. In that state, an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) and a radiologist were <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/protect-women-protect-life-rally-happening-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committing abortions<\/a>\u00a0on women.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-safety-myth-women-deserve-know-truth\/\">OB\/GYN shows abortion \u2018safety\u2019 is a myth, and women deserve to know the truth<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bill sponsor Rep. Cynthia Roe (R) said that while the bill will help to protect women from abortion-related injuries, her overall goal is to see abortion numbers decline in Oklahoma. &#8220;The intent of this bill,&#8221; she explained directly, &#8220;is to hopefully drastically reduce the number of abortions in the state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/tulsaworld.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/govt-and-politics\/oklahoma-house-passes-bill-to-limit-abortion-providers-to-ob-gyns\/article_08cb2b04-7ac2-11eb-b36b-5fc3bb5f0c77.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tulsa World<\/a>, &#8220;a number of primary care physicians reportedly perform abortions.&#8221; The reason so many non-OB\/GYNs commit abortions is because most OB\/GYNs <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/doctor-most-obgyns-dont-do-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">do not want to participate<\/a> in the intentional killing of preborn human beings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CFZDhM5Gwhk\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think one of the common misconceptions that people have about OB\/GYNs in training, or about OB\/GYNs even in practice is that we spend lots of time or money and resources around abortion when, in fact, we really don&#8217;t,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/doctor-most-obgyns-dont-do-abortions\/\">explained private practice OB\/GYN Dr. Alicia Thompson<\/a> on the Coming Home Network. While abortion is touted as a standard form of pregnancy care, this is not actually true.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Thompson said that while the &#8220;majority of OB\/GYNs would say that they are pro-choice&#8221; they &#8220;do not participate in [abortion].&#8221;\u00a0According to Dr. Thompson and <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/questions-and-answers-on-late-term-abortion\/\">Dr. Christina Francis<\/a> of the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, at least 85% of OB\/GYNs do not commit or take part in abortions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a>\u00a0for more pro-life news and commentary!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Oklahoma House of Representatives passed a bill on March 2 to prevent medical professionals who are not OB\/GYNs from committing abortions.
