Parents can tune in at any time to see their little one in a secure app which also includes a way for doctors and nurses to text updates, record video, and take pictures. This can be a godsend for parents who live far away from the hospital, or for siblings and grandparents unable to visit the baby because of COVID restrictions.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plus, parents don\u2019t need to wait to get to the hospital to receive daily updates on their baby. For parents who cannot physically be with their babies due to health reasons, AngelEye offers them a feeling of connection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This is especially beneficial for parents with babies in the NICU [neonatal intensive care unit]. Leaving a newborn at the hospital can be very challenging for working parents and remote families,&#8221; hospital officials said, according to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.valdostadailytimes.com\/news\/local_news\/sgmc-cameras-connect-families-newborns\/article_dfc7080d-e0d4-5d91-a8a1-195826667b94.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Valdosta Daily Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. &#8220;Virtual care technology can make a big difference in allowing parents 24\/7 access to their newborn ensuring more effective collaboration between care teams and families.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cParents tell us that this is the next best thing to being there and really reduces anxiety as they can check in whenever they want,\u201d said Peggy Knight, RN, the hospital\u2019s director of women\u2019s and infants services.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/parents-rationing-oxygen-premature-texas-outage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Parents tell of rationing oxygen for premature son during Texas power outage<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South Georgia is one of the most recent hospital systems to implement AngelEye, but others have benefited as well. Penn State\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital was able to purchase 56 AngelEye cameras in December 2020 with a grant from Children\u2019s Miracle Network. One family told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pennstatehealthnews.org\/2021\/02\/lights-camera-baby-penn-state-childrens-hospital-angeleye-cameras-help-parents-keep-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Penn State Health News<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they loved being able to watch the 24\/7 \u201cPenelope Show&#8221; of their baby girl Penelope Nelson, and it helped to keep them connected through her recovery from surgeries to fix her cleft palate and clubbed foot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A grant from Pampers allowed the NICU at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville to buy the cameras as well. \u201cAbout 35% to 40% of our families come from outlying hospitals or transferred here and so many of our families live hours away,&#8221; UVA NICU Medical Director Jonathan Swanson said to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbc29.com\/2020\/06\/14\/pampers-grant-helps-uva-nicu-expand-virtual-program-connect-parents-babies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NBC29<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Swanson also pointed out the mental health benefits for parents and improved bonding between parents and children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Loa was born at just 24 weeks at Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.
